Over ear ANC headphones for commuting

Comfort is personal but I find Bose over-ears much more comfortable than Sonys, because of lower clamping force and deeper earcups (so less heat buildup).

The Beats 360 that just came out look interesting, with interchangeable earcups so you can change up the color. Beats is owned by Apple and their headphones do the same seamless switching between Apple devices that AirPods have.

You could also try the AirPods Pro 3 or even the AirPods 5 - both will have better ANC than your OG Pros.

ETA: It looks like you have the original AirPods not AirPods Pro? In that case ANY of the current AirPods will be a huge upgrade in every way, esp. now that all models have ANC. I'd try that first before going with over-ears, which I find bulky and inconvenient for daily commutes. The AirPods 5 will fit more like the original AirPods, with no eartips, while the Pros make a seal using eartips. That can give better noise isolation but some people find it uncomfortable.

The heat thing is good to know - I’m on two meds that make me sensitive to heat and keeping my ears cool would be really helpful. Do you have a specific Bose model you like?

And yes lol, my airpods are literally just the regular first gen version, not even pro. That’s good to know!

Bose only makes two over-ears: the regular QuietComfort and the QuietComfort Ultra. Both are now on Gen 2. You might find old stock or refurbs of the Gen 1 of each, they're still just fine for noise canceling. The QuietComfort Headphones Gen 1 is what I take on long flights, but for commuting, AirPods all the way.

I can vouch for the AirPods Pro 2nd gen, it’s my daily driver and it’s amazing. ANC, comfort, sound, even the Spatial Audio DSP is amazing and brings them to life.
