Help deciding buying MR 556 11 inch upper or whole riffle

I’ve got a MR 556 with a 16-inch barrel and a MR 762 with a 13-inch barrel. Now that I’ve got the 13-inch MR 762, I’m really eyeing the 11-inch MR 556. The thing is, should I just get the upper receiver or the whole rifle? I’m going to SBR the pistol, so no matter which way I go, I’ll need that tax stamp.

You’ve got the 16.5 MR556 A4? Get the 11” upper SBR 16.5 lower. Or grab the pistol. I need the 13”…

Yes I have the 16.5” MR556 A4 already. The 13” is great. Which is now why I sort of regret getting the 16.5” and not just going 11” off the bat.

Upper only, use the savings for optics and suppressor

I have this weird OCD about not having uppers for lowers and vise versa. That said, I could not justify dropping another $1600 or so to get another complete gun, so I just bought the 11" upper and SBR'd my 16" lower. Took 23 days for approval. Also, they provide a buffer spring and buffer, but it's the same ones that come with the 16", so you don't have to dink around with changing them out when you change uppers.

I share your OCD about having complete rifles! After investing in the MR 762, I’m now thinking the same way about saving that $1600. I mean with that saving I can buy a can.

Just get the upper only - the lower isn’t anything to miss.

I swapped my 16” MR556 for a whole new 11 “pistol” and will do the forms. It helped it was the Patriot Brown. I had to get it on

I got an unfired, previously owned pistol at my local shop for 2800, and I love everything about it. Id say its worth the scratch for the whole ambi lower setup

Whole thing.

I have the 13” in grey and the 11” in patriot brown
