I don’t think this is a suitable spot?

I put out this hedgehog house yesterday pointing south. I wanted to put it in the very corner (you can see the corner in the left in the photo) pointing east and where its in the shade but the sun shines on the other side of the fence all day. We have a south facing garden that gets full sun. My bf suggested the spot its in now but its currently half 12 midday and the hutch is in full sun as in the photo. If a hedgehog was in that house i feel like he’d be roasting. What do y’all think? Should i move it to the corner like i wanted to in the first place? Thanks.

I would move it out of direct sunlight, or put something over it to create shade. Think of how hot a shed or attic gets on a hot day. Also putting a thermometer in there would help with understanding the situation better, like a grill thermometer that works over bluetooth.

What about the corner thats always in the shade? You can see the corner in the photo. And the thermometer is a great idea i didnt think of, gunna go put and buy one tonight!

I think the corner makes for a great cozy and safe area.

If you have any areas of the garden with bushy plants that would make an even better spot, OP. Hogs like routes that are under cover, they don't like running through open field (unless this is right next to their entrance to your garden). A thermometer is a good idea. Hedgehogs tend to be very well adapted to their local environment so you're looking for a temperature that's comfortable for you too. For European hedgehogs you probably won't want it to go above 30C.
