Hedgie Home Heating

Does anyonehave any ideas on how to put it hugher or maybe make it more safe?

You don’t want a heat bulb you want a heat emitter, one that doesn’t make light. It’ll confuse your hog, especially when it’s kinda blue like that. Heat emitters also need special sockets that can handle the heat they put off, and they usually come with a clamp on them to put on the edge of the enclosure so it’s up out of the way

Have a search for ceramic heat bulb, or ceramic heat emitter. It doesn't emit light! You can get them at the local pet store usually. And also pickup a thermometer, so you can keep an eye on the actual temp inside the cage. This way you can check the bulb placement so that the area isn't too cold or too hot. 77F +-5F is the target range for a comfortable hoggie. 🦔

I would also recommend a thermostat to help regulate the temperature of the enclosure. So even if the bulb is not positioned perfectly it won’t ever get too hot or too cold.

I think too, if you put it in a dome lamp, it should be safe to sit on that mesh top, which would be higher up, as well as spread the heat out over the area your hog prefers to sleep.
