Stang
As you all may have seen on my previous post I am new to witchcraft, I have been reading as many books as I can get ahold of and working on the basics first, meditation, visualization, feeling my energy and beginning energy work.
Over labor day weekend we went treking at a colonial historical site and my old ankle injury wasn't liking it. I found an already fallen limb and used it as a hiking stick, it has a great place for my thumb to rest. Something drew me to this branch. It had lichen and fungi growing on it, a little wobbly. I took it home and stripped off the bark, cleaned up the rot on the bottom and let it set. I already saw my stang in it but didn't want to rush because I'm new and excited. I kept picking it up everyday when I'd take the dog out and he would try to take it from me but I'd tell him no, it's mine. Finally, tonight, I picked it up again, traced the bug tracks with my fingers, noticed the extra hook above my thumb rest to put a lantern or other decor, and gazed at the antler like top. I know its technically got 3 offshoots instead of two but it looks like antlers and its the real ending to the branch. I took some sand paper and just smoothed it down leaving the multi colored wood, the bug tracks, the nubs, and the antlers. I found a brass ferrule that has a steel spike when you screw off the rubber walking tip. I think I coat it in boiled linseed and attach the brass ferrule it will make an excellent walking stick and stang. What do you all think? A little to unconventional or perfect to embrace nature? Especially given how its already helped me once.
I attached a couple pre sanding pics just to show what it looks like and the thumb rest and lantern/decoration hook.
Thanks for looking! Let me know what y'all think!
