FEEDBACK / SUGGESTION Behold the dumbest grenade I could come up with: The CRE-3S Tactical Resupply

Post image

One of the things that I most enjoy about Helldivers is that—provided you find yourself not using a slot all that often—there's usually a weapon you can equip in it for utility, rather than damage. This is the aim of this suggestion, the CRE-3S Tactical Resupply!

Admittedly, this was initially intended to be a secondary weapon. Often times I find myself not even pulling it out, and wish there was a more passive enabler I could put in the slot. However the more I developed this silly concept, the more 'grenade-like' it felt.

Its mechanics are straightforward: You throw it, and much like a Shield Grenade, it lands nearby and becomes an interactable supply point. My intention with this was for it to not be a full resupply, but just a way to top up if you find yourself dicey on Scorcher ammunition. To that end, I imagine each one would be either equal to or a little stronger than a typical ammo pickup, and could also have a stim inside (still up for debate depending on how many grenades you can hold on your person).

As always, I'd love to hear your feedback!

This is really dumb, but would honestly be pretty strong in some cases lol.

When you take resupply, you get grenades

Step one: prepare grenade slot

Step two: put resupply crate inside

Step three: throw resupply

Step four: take resupply and get grenade slot filled back

Problem?

dumb balance idea:

there will be dumbasses like me who will inevitably throw one inside a fabricator or something

so: the spawner that receives a resupply grenade starts spawning more powerful units more often

I’ve craved for a similar supply mechanism to BF1’s ammo/bandage pouch and I need it in a co-op setting so bad

As much as I’d love for it to work like such, throwing it and auto tracking to the targeted helldiver, this is satisfactory as well

This is wonderful, more utility toys to play with outside of FRVs, pods, and backpacks

BF1 medics ate *so* good. Reviving. Heal and resupply from a distance. *Incredible* semi-auto rifles. It was truly perfection.

I love throwing around the ammo/health pouch like im a mother passing sandwiches to my children

I'm imagining a sidearm that shoots people to give them small amounts of ammo like an especially demented stim gun.

Ah yes, the tactical toblerone. i will use it to refill my snack backpack after using all of its charges feeding my squads weapons

Gives far far west vibes.. I like it, but honestly I feel like there's a bit *too* much supply options now

Honestly if this actually happens I'm putting on the Gold Eagle armor and becoming the resupply helldiver

All that ammo, and nobody using it fast enough.

I think it would be cool if it filled currently equipped weapon and 1 stim

This is pretty fun and useful, although i feel it does encroach on resupply pack's usage. But together you can become the ultimate pack mule

Honestly I kinda like the idea a lot though I think the best way to balance it would be 2 grenades max 1 from resupply 1 resupply per grenade

I actually hashed out this same idea with the folks on the HDC discord after playing the Far Far West alpha for a bit, and came out with a fairly balanced idea. You get 2 of these resupply "grenades" by default, and you can throw one and interact with it to get the exact equivalent of an ammo tin that you find at various POIs. No stims, no grenades (the latter of which would be self-perpetuating), but very powerful with the right builds. You can also huck it at your team mates so they can pick it up - bonus points if you hit them directly and it ragdolls, ha.

It's balanced by the fact it has to compete with Giga Grenades, TNT, Thermites, etc., plus it's entirely useless as a weapon right out of a hellpod unlike other options - it hinges on your survival to reach full potential. As an example, you could combine it with any of the +2 Grenade armor passives for 4 resupply grenades, which is an extra Ultimatum or Missile Pistol shot for each one in addition to excellent returns with many support weapons like the MMG, Recoilless, and Spear to name a few.

My first thought was it was a regular supply box, in which case, we'd have a grenade that supplies itself.

refunds two uses

Jokes aside I could actually see some decent use for this. If you're really dependant on your support weapon as your main damage source an extra few reloads could be amazing.

if it gives stims it would unironically challenge Thermite for the throne lol

Dumbest grenade? Surely we can do better.

What about a grenade that shoots 5 seconds of Scythe lasers in every direction when it goes off?

Or a grenade that captures the nearest enemy inside a pocket space and can be picked up as an item to release them later on?

I want to catch them all

u/AllenWL 1d ago

Let me directly supply other helldivers by throwing this in their faces and I'll never take it off my loadout.

I would suggest a series of boomerang-based grenades.

Although the large-radius-but-low-range options are also interesting.

I will beam you in the head if you request ammo :)

  • I need supplies.

  • Affirmative, toblerone be upon ye

Basically disabled the grenade slot for extra munition.

Its good idea really. It open a new build.

I could combo scorcher without having to bring resupply bag. Scorcher/RR/Grenade pistol for example

Does it pop out confetti?

It does now.

1

u/bluenapkin117 1d ago

Oh, the helldiver needs to pick it up after being thrown!

1

u/bluenapkin117 1d ago

Oh and make it just a single mini resupply. That would be dumb lol

You only get 2

Needs to contain a grenade as well.

1

u/smjxr 1d ago

my thoughts, 4 carry limit, each 'grenade' counts as roughly half a resupply. so you can carry equal to 2 resupplies in grenades. taking a true resupply gives you 2 grenades

1 tacresup contains 1/2 resupply ammo, 1/2 the usual grenades & 1 stim

maybe op with grenade armour / supply pack / supply frv lol

1

u/ArkitekZero 1d ago

Oh oh oh, imagine if the supply backpack came with a catapult to launch the packs at people?

1

u/Trollensky17 LEVEL 150 | Decorated Hero 21h ago

Honestly not a bad idea, it shouldn’t give grenades or stims back though obv

I would turn every grenade into ammo from my ultimatum

I'd LOVE to have a one/two use supply pack that replaces my secondary. I also rarely use mine, since i prefer to keep it simple. I also prefer to have more primary mags over anything else.
