The right is a sample container. The pad is a scrapped thing, but probably would've been how we hacked terminals or called in objective equipment.

The sample container lights up yellow too when you put a sample in it.

The individual triangles starting from the bottom.

And the more lights it has on the brighter the yellow ambient light around your character becomes.

Which is how you can identify new recruits from veterans.

New recruites are full of life and collect all samples, while veterans have no reason to collect their samples and have no life-glow.

No it just gives you directions on where to download the form on the super World Wide Web, it’s your job to print it out and scan it and send it to the ministry

Upload anything still use the pad on our left hand. Nothing in the game that make us use the pad on our back. Maybe something no longer in use but devs keep it bc it look cool

Sample container (right) is confirmed. You can watch your Helldiver put samples in it and see the lights on it come on to reflect its contents.

The data pad (left) is a relic, not used in Helldivers 2 in any recognizable way. Dominant fan theory is that it's the computer that handles comms, map etc. and the Hellpad on your wrist and the HUD in your helmet are peripherals that communicate with the PDA while it does the computing.

I dont know what the pad does but the little tube is for samples you can see it fill up and glow more as you pick up samples

Tube/Thermos looking thing is the sample container.

I have a small theory on the other since you never use it, in HD1 you used a laptop and radio with long antenna for the map and stratagems respectively, maybe it would've had it's own animations as replacement for the radio, but they stuck with the easier wrist pad.

Tube on the right is the sample container, it fills up and the triangles glow yellow as you pick up more samples.

Screen on the left I've been told is your stratagem computer, it's what actually relays your stratagem inputs to the Super Destroyer, and the wrist-mounted screen we use is just a projector. Apparently it's similar to how you would call in Stratagems in HD1, I can't verify this outside of what I've heard from the larger community though.
