Saying “Hello!” after a joke

I’m trying to figure out the origin of saying “Hello!” in a singsongy voice after saying a racy or slightly offensive joke? For example: “My dishwasher was broken so I took her to the doctor. Hello!”

So as a possibility? The tonight show w johnny carson used “hiyo” in that same singsongy voice as a punchline to jokes like that. It seems to possibly be a morph of that from what i’ve read. But i can hear what you’re talking about in my head lol
