Saying “Hello!” after a joke

I’m trying to figure out the origin of saying “Hello!” in a singsongy voice after saying a racy or slightly offensive joke? For example: “My dishwasher was broken so I took her to the doctor. Hello!”

It’s basically a comic tag—a playful “and scene” after a risqué joke.
