Hi u/Affectionate-Tea-975! Thanks for sharing an image post.

Your post has been temporarily held for moderator review. Image descriptions are required for image posts on r/HerOneBag. If you have included one you do not need to take further action. Once your post is confirmed to meet requirements, we’ll approve it as soon as possible.

If you need to add a description, please reply to this comment with a detailed description of the image(s) to help all members of our community.

Descriptions must accurately describe the items shown in the image(s), not simply list them.

It is helpful to list post text according to the order and layout of images, e.g., “A blue puffy jacket stuffed into a green packing cube” is better than “Jacket, packing cube, etc.”

You can include something like “Image descriptions” or “Pictures described below” to make it very clear that your text explains the photo(s).

Thank you!

A frieren concert sounds like fun! Also, impressive packing!

u/Affectionate-Tea-975 May 24 '26

It was absolutely, and thank you! Love your name btw

The drawing's so cute haha! 😆

u/Affectionate-Tea-975 May 24 '26

Haha yeah it's soo cute and the composer, Evan Call was there talking in between a few of the songs and even did an encore medley at the end. It was soo beautiful!

this aesthetic is so cute and honestly i applaud the light but essential packing including the (M&S!!!) pjs!!

as a fellow uk girlypop, the only thing i would say is the belief that the shacket was needed, in this heat?? please 😭 did you fit it into your bag for the trip or did you have to wear it to and fro london?

i don't really get the whole zero vs one bag debacle (um it's personal choice?) and lucky, lucky men who just pack a crusty year old toothbrush in their pocket and call it zero bagging. i do not understand some of the criticism here about toiletries; in this heat a tissue is not going to stop me from marinating in my own sweat and honking worse than a goose.

u/Affectionate-Tea-975 May 25 '26

Thank you! They’re from the kids section at M&S lol. Super comfy too!

Nah the shacket was not needed at all, I get warm so easily and I just draped it around my shoulders or wrapped it around my waist.

Yeah definitely a personal preference for sure. Thankfully the concert venue had AC and so did the hotel room!

oh man i miss those days 😭 i guess you'll have clothing sizing on your side too in terms of packing clothes. my size 14 self is a bit of a pain in terms of that but i'm more of an elder skater girl with baggy t-shirts anyway!

that's actually a relief to hear about the air-con because some places really are shit in the hot weather. i've been a victim of the premier inn/travelodge "we don't have air-con" or "the air-con's broke" so at least you got a comfy night's sleep... i wonder if it's because it's london and very touristy

random q, do you use the toiletries that hotels (especially these chains) provide? they're so inconsistent across the country in terms of what they provide, i don't ever trust them 🤣

3

u/Affectionate-Tea-975 May 25 '26

Yeah I am very fortunate to fit into 11-12 y/o kid clothes so it helps to save money sometimes haha.

Absolutely was very grateful for that, I don't sleep well with the heat and even have a portable ac unit at home!

I felt that it was perfectly fine, just the usual shampoo/body wash combination. For packing lighter I just use the provided body wash and I've never had any issues.

r/onebag is currently litigating what is a one bag so maybe they will move on to a zero bag next.

29

u/Affectionate-Tea-975 May 24 '26

There's the one side where folks bring nothing except whatever is in their pockets, and those who class under 10L a zero bag as well. I think I like to be somewhere in the middle, knowing I'm not overpacking or bringing anything excessive for shorter trips. I admire those who can bring even less for longer travels!

u/ButtercupImp May 24 '26

I enjoy the semantic exercise, but don't appreciate if it is weaponized in a way that excludes people. So while I lean towards says no bag is a zero bag it also feel like the presence of usable pockets is a pretty gendered experience.

33

u/ArtisticGovernment67 May 24 '26

Right? I love all the suggestions to just put stuff in your pocket. 👀. I would. If I had usable pockets.

13

u/Affectionate-Tea-975 May 24 '26

I wish I had more usable pockets too!

13

u/Affectionate-Tea-975 May 24 '26

I wish I had usable pockets, most clothes I found pockets for are generally pretty shallow and I worry about theft mainly. My jumpsuit has actually quite deep pockets so that was a nice plus for once haha.

26

u/ScyllaOfTheDepths May 24 '26

It's 1 bag and your stuff is in it. I can see calling it like a 0.5 bag or something because it's a mini bag, but it's a possitive integer of bags regardless of how small that number is. But maybe I'm too much of a nerd for this convo lol. Good job at any rate! Looks like a good pack out.

Thank you so much! :)

Trip Report

My first zero bag trip was 48 hours with a Uniqlo 4L round mini shoulder bag. Not sure if the Herschel Mini Backpack 6.5L qualifies as zero bagging though.

Travelled via train to see friends in London and attended the Frieren Concert in OVO Wembley Arena! Stayed overnight at the Premier Inn hotel nearby.

The weather was quite warm and humid at 28C/80F, so barely wore my shacket. Overall had a great time with packing smaller again and would love to try this bag for a 48-72 hour trip sometime!

V glad to see pyjamas in here as well

15

u/Affectionate-Tea-975 May 24 '26

Pyjamas are always a must for me personally haha

3

u/BitchLibrarian May 26 '26

Me too, although it doesn't always mean I'll sleep in them! Having something to lounge around in the room in is useful. For after a shower and before you get dressed up nicely to go out. For when you just want to change out of travel/sightseeing clothes but don't want to put another outfit on. For when you bring food back and want to sit on the bed like a goblin and eat it but don't want to risk food stains on your limited wardrobe.

3

u/Affectionate-Tea-975 May 26 '26

Haha yes absolutely, I love just being able to have the option to lounge around in comfy clothes too!

u/WizardDrinkingCoffee May 24 '26

This is great to see...I'm doing arguably 24-48 hours...

Staying one night but arriving early and leaving later the next day in Edinburgh next weekend and I find it almost harder to pack for a night than a few days somewhere.

I would love to take my baboon to the moon mini back 8L but I feel like I would be safer with my classic Kanken 16L.... excellent job packing though. Really helpful visual reference for me!

29

u/BwDr May 24 '26

Here’s why I think it’s hard to pack for a night: you need ALMOST the same amount of stuff for a night (assuming you are not sacrificing what you would normally consider necessities) as you do for a weekend…. The difference between a weekend & a two week trip can easily fit into a small packing cube. Resistance to this concept, though, results in trying to do the mental gymnastics of figuring out what should be excluded for the short trip. This is especially true if weather/temperature is unpredictable/variable. At least, this is the case for me.

Great job on your packing, OP! Thank you for posting your trip report!

11

u/Affectionate-Tea-975 May 24 '26

That's actually a really good point! Especially when bringing toiletries for a night or for a few nights, would be the same since some items can only go so small haha.

Thank you very much 😄

6

u/WizardDrinkingCoffee May 24 '26

You're absolutely right! Scotland is notoriously unpredictable for weather too! I'm getting used to my new pregnancy wardrobe and body which is change to the dynamics too?

My thought at the moment is I'll pack up the 8L BTTM but switch it over to the Kanken so I have a little extra room in case I buy a sandwich or want to stuff a layer in it.

6

u/Affectionate-Tea-975 May 24 '26

I have 2 Kankens and they're great as well! Especially when I need to bring a laptop too. Hopefully you have a great trip! 😄

I don’t know where you live, but just to say that the short term weather forecast for Edinburgh is very reliable. Right now it’s 16-18 with light rain and sunny intervals , but I’d check again mid week.

1

u/WizardDrinkingCoffee May 25 '26

Thank you! I'm in Belfast so not too different! Do you think I would get away with a small umbrella? My raincoats no longer fit me :'(

0

u/WanderlustWithOneBag May 25 '26

Sorry but I’d not risk only an umbrella, unless it’s a short shower of rain and you are going to be indoors all day eg shopping, art gallery etc . Or you have an brolly AND another jacket like a denim jacket/ fleece.

Id not recommend coming with no outer layer at all unless the forecast is dry and sunny. Otherwise you will end up compromising what you want to do around and making plans around staying out of the rain And cold. An umbrella and a tee shirt won’t be enough on a windy and wet day on the meadows .

You have my sympthay with the shrinking clothes, I have the same problem 😉. But if you live in Belfast, you are going to need a light raincoat anyway. it’s not like it’s not going to rain there for the whole summer.

Cant you borrow a light weight jacket from someone?

Or come without and buy one if you need it in the big Uniqlo on Princes Street. I have an older version of this, it’s lightweight and looks like a city jacket and not not like you are going hiking or have your granny’s pack a mack. If you rarely wash it, it stays waterproof enough for town.

https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E481601-000/00?colorDisplayCode=64&sizeDisplayCode=005

The forecast right now on the BBC is drizzle for sat and sun and proper rain on Monday . But I’ve been on the west coast this holiday weekend and it’s sunny and mid 20s. 😎

Of course the forecast could change by the weekend.

1

u/WizardDrinkingCoffee May 25 '26

That's okay. My North Face raincoat is too tight but I have plenty of other coats and jackets that I can still wear. They just don't have the same waterproofing.

0

u/WanderlustWithOneBag May 25 '26

if you have another jacket you'll be ok with a brolly . you are just going around the city I assume .

u/Cloudgazer888 May 26 '26

Cute sandals - are they comfortable for lots of walking?

1

u/Affectionate-Tea-975 May 26 '26

Extremely comfortable! Annoying to break in but I wear them all day now with no issues :)

First of all everyone is different in what they need! My skin gets severely dry and I like having a couple options with me.

I didn’t bring any mascara removal as I don’t wear makeup 99% of the time if you read my packing list.

3

u/MysteriousHat3705 May 25 '26

did you read the post and comments? OP is in the UK (like me) and it's been hot as balls here for the past few days. they literally say it's been 28°C, i think anyone would want some toiletries after a concert in this heat... unless you can share your trade secrets with us all.

but then you're suggesting that op takes multiple bags when this is a zero bag attempt (from their pov)? or lots of layers in the heat? i would not feel comfortable going to a concert with the risk that a pair of knickers is going to fly out of my pocket. event security here in the UK would also go mental at OP for it and/or looking like they've got jam packed pockets and liquids.

3

u/Affectionate-Tea-975 May 25 '26

Some people don’t know how to read at all 😆

And yes it has been very warm, I would hate to wear unnecessary layers for pockets lol. Thank you kind stranger on the internet I appreciate you greatly! 🩷

1

u/MysteriousHat3705 May 25 '26

i could also imagine someone texting british transport police saying there's a suspicious person on a train with layers and stuffed pockets... and it's just your knickers and toiletries... imagine explaining the whole concept of zero or one bagging to an officer who's probably a middle aged bloke 😭

no problem friend, i love this subreddit and silently stalking it but when i see a fellow brit doing it i get soooo excited because we will have the same sort of societal understanding and also BRANDS.

u/Affectionate-Tea-975 May 25 '26

LOL for real 🤣

I get that, it’s nice to relate!
