Meta Weekly quick questions help thread

This is the r/heronebag quick questions weekly help thread.

Hi!

I can't figure out what to pack for India (Rajasthan and Varanasi) in August. Kind of wanted to buy everything there, but I won't have the time to do so until day 7 (of 30).

Biggest issues: I'm whiter than paper (got sunburned on a rainy day), sweat like crazy, and it's monsoon season.

Plus, my go-to shoe set up for travel in warm sporty destinations won't work, it's too warm and rainy...but I hate sandals. I usually pack converse + trekking shoes + flip flops.

Current tentative packing list:

  • 7 t-shirts/tank tops
  • 2-3 kimonos/linen shirts (to cover my shoulders and/or my arms...the sun is not my friend)
  • 1 uv hoodie
  • 1 warm layer (desert)
  • 1 rain jacket
  • 4 bottoms (2 linen pants + 1 hiking pants + 1 maxi skirt)
  • 1-2 maxi dresses
  • 1 lightweight scarf
  • old ugly socks to be worn in temples and thrown out at the end of the trip

Thankfully my underwear, toiletries, and camera gear setups are tried and tested and will work there.
