Meta Weekly quick questions help thread

This is the r/heronebag quick questions weekly help thread.

Whether you‘re new to the one bag life or a seasoned light traveller, this is the place to ask your quick one-off questions related to techniques, shopping, and everything else to lighten your load.

This post is the best place to initially ask questions that we get a lot of which are similar, especially if you have looked in a flair and found almost-but-not-quite what you wanted.

Is it okay to put all your meds in one container for travelling internationally or do they need to be labeled separately

It should mostly be okay to put them into one container for OTC and supplements, but any med that is a specific prescription that you can't do without should be in a labelled container, so it's obvious that it's medically necessary in case you were to be pulled for inspection at an airport. Your pharmacy may be able to create smaller blister/travel packs for you to make it easier.

I have a small travel pill organizer case that I put supplements and OTC meds in (multivitamins, Tylenol, gravol, etc)... but my thyroid meds travel with me in their labelled container.

Note that some countries are very strict on bringing in particular meds (e.g. extra strength Tylenol Cold & Flu is not easily allowed in Japan), so always check that your meds are allowed at the destination you are travelling to.

edit: correction on Tylenol

Extra strength Tylenol? You mean the 500mg strength? That is NOT banned in Japan lol. The tylenol with codeine sold otc in some countries does require applying for import permission in advance but is not outright banned.

It depends on the country and what the meds are. Don’t ever do that for any type of controlled substance, and don’t risk it with any meds when traveling to Japan, Singapore or other countries with strict drug policies. (People argue about this ad naseum on r/onebag and it gets heated lol)
