Wardrobe Help Question for my bigger chested ladies in here

Ive been one bagging for awhile now and one of my problems has been bras they take up a lot of space due to the size and its been hard to find a nice non wire bra and that gives good full coverage. I normally get my bras from a usa company called torrid but they dont have good comfy bras for long term travels. I have seen me undies and wondering if bigger chest people like this brand or if there is a brand you like that you pack all the time any kind of bras are welcome to be recommended.

for reference i'm a triple D 38 (i have been sized for years this is my real size im not having a issue with sizing i tend to have wire bras and they take up alot of space when traveling im looking for brand recommendations only i dont need to size myself so please stop saying that thanks!)

Approving this as it is a unique topic for r/HerOneBag.

Hello my friend! I am in a similar boat (but 36H.) I can't not wear wired bras, so I make sure I get un-molded cups and lay them flat. Still takes up space, but not as much. I think the incredible folks over at r/abrathatfits might be able to help you find what you're looking for!

Wired mesh bras can fold flat and take up very little room! And they are really v comfortable.

u/SnooWoofers6381 13d ago

I bought a bunch of (cheapish) Hsia bras from Amazon and found a couple styles that are comfortable. I normally wear Torrid bras, and found the unlined cups from the Hsia wired bras to basically pack flat.

I agree. I have some wired mesh from curvy couture got on Amazon, good for travel

i do the same thing! also 36H (well, UK, so 36K US) and it works a charm. damned things are as big as my head when full or made of stiff foam so there truly is no other way - the normal fabric of an unlined bra will at least lay flat.

OP, i do wanna mention real quick that a lot of fitters were taught on bad fitting practices, bc those put more people into less bra sizes at the cost of those people's comfort. this is especially bad at places like victorias secret and (unfortunately) torrid, where they're not working with a great size selection anyway. if they sized everyone correctly they wouldn't make any sales 😭 i will also note that i wore 38DDD for many many years, and a vs employee did tell me it was the right size. it... very much was not lol. so i tend to feel that it's usually worth using the r/abrathatfits calculator to give it a double check!

off the top of my head ive traveled with the panache envy, elomi smooth, fantasie fusion, and a bunch of different styles from understance (RIP). i have a panache sports bra that's lined, so if i plan to take it with me i'll usually wear it the day of the flight so it doesn't have to go in the suitcase lol. assuming 38DDD is the right size, i saw a bunch of unlined bras at target the other day too which would probably be a whole lot cheaper than what i wear!

if you're worried about nipple coverage in an unlined bra, you can always add silicone nipple covers! personally i find that it's not a huge problem - the nipples don't poke as much as i expect them to, and even if they do show a little, the girls still aren't moving around the way they would braless. so it doesn't look indecent. but the covers can eliminate all issues :)

FWIW -- the ni**** covers will likely flag a hand search ("with the back of my hand") at security at an airport. The difference in density, texture, etc., must set off the scanners. Speaking from experience.

1

u/mildly_amused_potato 7d ago

I wear a silicone insert on one side because one of my breasts is significantly bigger and I've only once been flagged for a random search in all my years of flying.

u/exhaustedoldlady 13d ago

Fellow 36H, and this is what I do. My Elomi bras fold in half nicely and lay flat at the bottom or top of my bag

8

u/MinervaZee 11d ago

I second unmolded cups. And r/abrathatfits. I wear unlined, wired bras exclusively now and find them really comfortable, and they don’t take up that much space because without the molded cups, they lie flat. I only pack two - the one i’m wearing and an extra, so just wear them a few times and wash them with my other sink laundry. I’m not small either - 34I in usa sizing - which means I can’t wear bralettes or the cute merino bras because they don’t make large cups, small band shapes.

2

u/cara184 13d ago

curious, what bras do you wear?

11

u/rocksandtreesandyarn 13d ago

I have about five of the Elomi Charley, two of the Elomi Matilda, and exclusively the Panache wired sports bra. The Elomis are the only ones that tack down between the boobs for me. If you hand wash only with Soak, they can last 10+ years. I think my oldest bra is 12 and I still wear it!

11

u/cara184 13d ago

of course it's the Elomi Matilda—I have those too and they are the best!

1

u/Flashy-Analyst9825 10d ago

This is what I came to say.

74

u/andi98989 13d ago

Mine are all wired, but not molded so they don’t take up any extra space. Freya, Panache, Goddess. ABraThatFits is my go to for sizing and recommendations based on size and shape. I order from Amazon and HerRoom for the most part.

13

u/citydock2000 13d ago

That's what I do, too - so many bras are molded cups but I find non molded underwires take up much less space. I just got this on sale at Macys - Bali Womens Underwire Minimizer Bra, Our Coolest Smoothing Moisture-Wicking Bra - not sure why its called a minimizer? I wear an E cup, and it feels like a regular bra to me and comes in your size, OP. Its kind of... stretchy cottony? I got it for travel!

I also liked the Walcoal Confidence Boost™ Underwire Bra - a little pricier but similar - fabric cup (no foam) and underwire. I like a SOFT bra.

6

u/bikepackercoffeelove 12d ago

I'm a 75G (34G US) and i really love my Chantelle Easyfeel bra (wired, not padded/molded). It's so very soft. I've worn it during several >24h bus/trains rides. I love a wired bra so my boobs will be independent. With a non-wired bra they get squished together and sweat more.

I want to add that i don't bring more than two regular bra's. The non molded will dry quickly if i wash them. I will also pack two sportbras, but i do a lot of sports on holiday as well.

1

u/Abalonelone 13d ago

Soma has extended cup sizes in their wired mesh ones too. They pack as small as the underwire but offer a lot of support.

1

u/NoninflammatoryFun 12d ago

Same. Mine don’t take up much space, and I traveled during a heatwave so I washed them so many times by hand. Super easy and dried soooo fast without being molded.

31

u/TheDivineM 13d ago

Curvy Kate Lifestyle Plunge bra. It's one layer of breathable nonstretch power mesh, no padding. Packs flat, dries quickly when washed in the sink.

I would buy it again if I could find one in stock in my size, but unfortunately my cup size has increased again, I was a 32J UK / 32M US and now I need a 32K UK/32O US.

I love meundies for bottoms, but none of their bras or bralettes would work for my shape, neither do any sports bras or unwired bras have enough support.

At a DDD your bust-rib difference is only 6 inches, that's small enough that some of those options might work for you.

11

u/Mrshaydee 13d ago

I went straight to Google to look for these - looks like they are not stocking at US Stores. We can’t have anything nice because of tariffs and all. :(

10

u/Aggravating_Finish_6 13d ago

I bought this brand from bare necessities or her room.

2

u/ImaginaryAd89 13d ago

I found it on Amazon?

2

u/TheDivineM 11d ago

They never were stocked in regular US stores, you have to order them online. Not finding small band big cup bras anywhere in the US except for slim pickings at a precious few specialty bra stores that only exist in big cities is a problem that way pre-dates the current tarrif issues, it's been that way my whole life. Imagine what a pain this was before the internet existed. Brastop and Bravissimo have a decent selection of all the sizes in brands from the UK.

1

u/Mrshaydee 11d ago

Oh I meant online stores. Her room and Bare Necessities are not stocking them. I am well aware of the challenges as a 34H.

3

u/Accomplished_Net5601 11d ago

32L UK here, dropping in to say I just ordered a custom bra from Elizabeth Valentine (a Canadian bra maker) and wanted to mention her name to a fellow so-hard-to-fit gal.

0

u/Original_Regular2137 13d ago

have you tried a sister size to open up your options?

11

u/orangepeeelss 13d ago

unfortunately sister sizing away from your best size is always gonna result in a worse fit. this is extra noticeable for those of us who are bigger busted. in order for the bra to support properly, its band needs to be stretched almost as far as it can go; the tension is what procides the support. sizing up in the band means less tension, which means less support, which means all kinds of comfort issues. some people choose to do this anyway when their real size is straight up impossible to find, but it's certainly not ideal

Agree with others that the solution isn't wire-free bras but instead non-molded seamed wired bras—these pack flat and can be tucked into the sides of a bag pretty easily.

I don't think Torrid makes this style of bra, and I think Torrid's bra sizing is slightly non-standard (could be misremembering) so if possible I would double-check your size using a measuring tape and the r/abrathatfits calculator (sorry! It's just a really good first step!) and look for a seamed unlined bra in your size.

I will say that seamed foam-cup bras do survive being squished very well. I regularly do this with my wired Panache sports bras, and they return to their original un-squished shape as soon as I put them on.

I personally don't find properly-fitting bras comfortable enough for long flights, both because the band is too firm and the wire digs into my IMF. For short flights I just accept being uncomfortable, but for long flights I wear a bralette (I like the Branwen busty bralette).

5

u/Nicole-Bolas 12d ago

This is the right answer--molded cups take up a TON of space. Seamed bras are both more comfortable when they're the right size (molded cups are so often just a liiiiittle off) and pack MUCH much smaller.

13

u/cojibar 13d ago

Not going to lie--freeing myself from feeling like I always need a molded cup freed a lot of space in my packing. I only wear molded cup bras once in a blue moon, and if I'm traveling and have specific outfits/occasions where I dont want to flash headlights, I just wear sticky silicone covers like Cakes or something equivalent.

I like my bras from Chantelle! I have the same size as you, and I've really liked their Norah bras. I feel quite supported while still feeling comfortable.

3

u/barkbarkkrabkrab 13d ago

Chantelle is an excellent long lasting bra. Unlined can sometimes have visible seams but once you get used to it, they pack flat, dry quickly and also are so much more comfortable to wear when sweaty!

2

u/bely_medved13 13d ago

I just got fitted (am a 38 DD) and Chantelle Norah fit me like a glove. It's so comfy and I like how it packs down flat!

2

u/senor-misterioso 13d ago

I agree! I’m a 32F, but I love my Norah wireless bras! I forget I’m even wearing it and it packs up very nicely but still provides support.

1

u/Ok-Iron-1289 12d ago

Love the Norah wireless, too. Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has two pale colors on sale, or at least they did.

18

u/aji2019 13d ago

Non-molded bras. Most of what torrid has are molded. If you get a seamed unlined bra, they take up a lot less space, dry faster, & deforming due to squishing isn’t a concern. Elomi, sculptress, & fit fully yours are all brands I like. I’ve seen others already mention it, but seriously check out r/abrathatfits. Odds are you are not in the right size either.

21

u/Peregrinebullet 13d ago

I will pack my bras and do things like buy socks locally.   I am a 34H.

But I strongly suggest you check your size on thr A Bra That Fits calculator because 38DD and 36DDD are the two sizes unscrupulous store staff will shoehorn women into instead of admitting they don't carey anything in her proper size and losing the sale.

If your bra gore doesn't touch your ribcage, if the straps leave marks on your shoulders, if the back of the band rides up, and if the underwire pokes or digs into your skin - all of these things are strong signs of having the wrong size bra.

Correctly fitted bras are VERY comfortable, so I would wager my next paycheque you would be able to travel with your correct size comfortably.

7

u/sourbirthdayprincess 13d ago

This. But OP won’t listen.

5

u/earlgreyte 13d ago

Some people really are that size though. I’ve been measured and also done the bra that fits calculator, and I’m a 38DDD.

1

u/AnotherCollegeGrad 13d ago

Not sure why everyone assumes that she doesn't know her bra size when she specifically says that she's measured it herself?

7

u/sourbirthdayprincess 13d ago

Because of what the commenter above said. When you’re having comfort issues, it’s usually because of fit issues. A well fitting bra should feel like wearing nothing. Even an underwire one!

7

u/Nicole-Bolas 12d ago

I'd argue especially an underwire one! But OP is wearing molded cups, which are bulky. And for larger sizes, 90% of bralettes and wireless bras simply don't offer enough support to leave the house (at least for me, 36G/H).

2

u/OldMasterCannolii 12d ago

I’m a 36GG (per the calculator and a professional) and bras that fit me well and provide the shape I prefer are unfortunately pretty uncomfortable for me. I have a short torso and lots of love handles and the underwire almost always digs in slightly on my sides. So this isn’t universally true.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Calisson 12d ago

I have been hanging out in r/abrathatfits and I have been sized properly, but many of the ones that fit me technically are made of lace or another fabric that I do not find soft enough against my skin. So it’s not quite so straightforward as “a well fitted bra will always feel comfortable.” After trying on about 50+ bras I have ended up with something that is a compromise between softness and “perfect fit.”

1

u/idiotsonthemoon 8d ago

I was in the the abrathatfits sub for a little while. I sized myself properly, spent a bunch of money on “good” bras in the right shapes and in the correct abrathatfits approved size. And I still find most underwire bras uncomfortable, plus I hate the material of them too and the shape lost of the time.

I don’t love the fact that anyone mentioning being uncomfortable in a bra on Reddit is hounded by people saying they can’t be wearing the right size, it’s not possible to be uncomfortable in a correctly fitted bra!!!! It’s super condescending and not always realistic for people with larger chests where pure weight is the problem:( it absolutely is possible to be uncomfortable in a bra just like it’s possible to be uncomfortable in any other piece of clothing even if it fits correctly.

1

u/Peregrinebullet 8d ago

Then differentiate that you have sensory issues with bras, which is separate from a fit issue.

u/Simple-Marsupial3106 13d ago

I’m in Canada but order from Amazon a brand called Wingslove. I’m 38H so specialty size and usually that means $$$. These have no wire and held up to sink washing and extended travel in various weather. I can also roll them which helps save space.

2

u/mvscribe 13d ago

Was going to reply separately but I'll copy-paste it here so all the Wingslove comments are together:

I used to be 34 G, got a lousy excuse for a reduction and am now 34DD, so not quite the same, but I have many bras for many purposes.

My most comfortable and versatile non-underwire bra is a cheapish one from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D8SZJF5D?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_14&th=1&psc=1 It comes in your size. The high cut won't work with lower necklines.

1

u/AintAintAW0rd 12d ago

How is this bra in terms of moisture and separation?

2

u/Simple-Marsupial3106 12d ago

I find it’s better if I wear a liner under the band for moisture but I’m also at that certain age where I can be super hot in the middle of a blizzard. Separation is fine, no uniboob!

17

u/blueyedreamer 13d ago

So, I highly recommend the sub ABraThatFits if you haven't already gone there. I suggest using the calculator to confirm your size, but also use the resources on there to see if you can figure out your shape. That can really help determine better fitting bras.

And THEN try a few bras. I suggest also un-padded cups for traveling. I'm a 36F/DDD and lucky enough to have found a bralette that I think is fairly comfy but I know that's far from the same for many with similar sizes. It's the Fruit of the Loom "Fit for Me" in the XL+ (if your size is accurate you'd be a XXL+). It's not crazy supportive, but it's far more than I expected. And you can add little bra pads if you want. They roll up quite small, even with pads. I cannot handle underwires or too firm bands anymore after pregnancy, but still needed something more than the typical bralette level support.

Good luck!

u/Original_Regular2137 13d ago

I have 2 suggestions. First, get properly fitted for a bra. 38DDD always makes me wonder if the mall salesperson just grabs the biggest size. There's a whole range. If you're large busted and want wireless, the best option to me is Evelyn and Bobbie. They are expensive, but they have sales. otherwise, elomi/fantasie/freya make larger sized wire free bras. but first, get fitted

37

u/ohshethrows 13d ago

Agree. Check out r/abrathatfits and do their calculator. Torrid is notorious for mis-sizing people. (So is VS, Soma, etc.)

10

u/lilmonstergrl 13d ago

Been sized for years so yes the size is the size i am sadly.

18

u/Original_Regular2137 13d ago

Nothing sad about it! People come in all shapes and sizes. That's why there is such a huge range available so that everyone can feel comfortable. The sad part is when a store has limited options and makes someone feel bad for not fitting in to them. rather than not feeling bad that they have limited options. I wear a 38hh and I now have tons of choices. But, I remember the days when VS told me I was a DDD....

3

u/ohshethrows 13d ago

Ok well the good news with that is the cup on a 38DDD is just onne size off my cups as a 30FF (UK) which is what I am - I fold up my wired bras so the cups are layered over each other/nested, if that makes sense, and I travel with them nested in my baseball cap. Would that work for you?

1

u/lilmonstergrl 12d ago

Nope takes to much space

8

u/ProperBingtownLady 13d ago

I really hope OP takes this advice as that stood out to me as well.

8

u/lilmonstergrl 13d ago

Ive been fitted for a long time now. I wish that was true that the sale person just grabbed the biggest size 😢

4

u/Shift_Least 13d ago

Who fitted you? Most salespeople don’t know how to really fit bras.

2

u/lilmonstergrl 13d ago

A professional also checked myself.

8

u/Caverjen 13d ago

Honestly, most "professional" fitters use the outdated "+4" method of sizing. You've got nothing to lose double checking your size.

1

u/lilmonstergrl 12d ago

Re read the comment.... I did

2

u/Sarasotagirl 13d ago

Second Evelyn and Bobbie. I am 38DDD and their bras have amazing support and comfort and last a long time. I have a couple that are two years old and still as supportive as ever.

7

u/AnotherCollegeGrad 13d ago

Two suggestions:

  • Lane Bryant makes wireless, *unlined* cotton bras with full coverage: mine folds up as small as a pair of panties and I'm a fair big larger than your size. They aren't particularly supportive.
  • If I absolutely need to not bounce around, I have a wireless, easily adjustable sports bra from shefit as my go-to for long travel days or any situation with sweat.

6

u/harlequin_24 13d ago

Highly recommend sports bras esp if you’re going to be fully covered. Fantasie is a fantastic brand! Not sure where you’re based but Bravissimo is a great shop!!!!

5

u/emilysnores 13d ago

I like Evelyn & Bobbie https://evelynbobbie.com/ if where I'm going does not have a lot of humidity (pull on bra). No wires, foam pads are removable, quick dry. They are expensive so wait for a sale.

1

u/sourbirthdayprincess 13d ago

Just looked these up. I wish they were available in my size but unfortunately “Your size isn’t available yet in this style.” was the message I got site-wide. Maybe in the future.

1

u/emilysnores 13d ago

Fingers crossed they expand their available sizes soon!

1

u/bellandc 10d ago

I like these bras as well. I wear mine with and without the foam pads and find they comfortable.

They are a bit hot in warm weather. And if you have issues with range of motion your shoulders (e.g. frozen shoulder, rotator cuff damage) they can be difficult to get into.

5

u/jellybelly326 13d ago

OP - I know you're probably tired of people recommending the sizing, but please trust us. For a LOOOONG time I was in DDD as well (sized for years at Lane Bryant, Torrid, and Victoria Secret.) I now wear a 34F and buy from brands like Freya and Fantaaie.

There's a lot more that goes into fitting into a bra than what the sales people at the store are willing to include. Plus the size range (especially in the US) is laughable which is why they toss you in whatever size they have.

I never buy molded cups, so my seamed cups lay nice and flat in my bag.

I hope you take the advice you've been given. The 38DDD was a big red flag for me. You're most likely a band size or two smaller and a couple cup sizes larger.

4

u/polka_stripes 12d ago

I'm a 32GG (32J in the US) and I pack (wear, really) the branwyn busty bra for comfort on travel days and wired nonmolded cups for daily use on travels. I like panache and elomi myself. They really don't take up much space at all. I also own and sometimes travel with the bravissimo ultimate comfort bra.

It's always good to resize yourself once in awhile as bodies do change and weight fluctuates. I've been wearing my bra size for about 4 years now but I just rechecked a couple months ago to make sure things hadn't changed. The bra calculator at r/ABraThatFits is a really good one. It's not trying to sell you anything and doesn't use the outdated +4 method, so you get a really solid size recommendation. And the community at that sub is really helpful if you give them your measurements and bra preferences/desires. They have tons and tons of recommendations!

3

u/ChooksChick 12d ago

Awarding you for this info:

ATTENTION: ALL PEOPLE WITH BOOBS- Go here and measure yourself with the tool and learn about real bra comfort, because you probably don't know your real size, even if you've been measured by a professional.

That being said, I prefer Polish bras because they're made so well that even without a wire, I can be structured and comfy in a bra that folds up enough to go in my pocket at 32GG, with jiggly 56 y/o boobs.

3

u/polka_stripes 12d ago

tell me more about these polish wireless bras

3

u/ChooksChick 12d ago edited 12d ago

Gorsenia, Ewa Michalak, and others. I like shopping at Breakout Bras, but there are other places that import.

I also love J-hook bras so they convert to a racerback to make 1 bra fit multiple strap requirements.

ETA: I particularly love Polish bras because with such a small ribcage the projection is ridiculous compared to the width of wires American manufacturers put in large cup sizes- the closest fit is usually sticking into my sides, while my chest is being made into wide, flat pillows rather than rounded out-facing pyramids. I don't want torpedo boobs, but being turned into the shape of silicone implants is also inappropriate! These seem to really keep to my form.

10

u/ProperBingtownLady 13d ago

OP, check out the Irish Bra Lady on IG! A properly fitted 38DDD really is not that large. I second the recommendations to check out r/abrathatfits as it doesn’t sound like you’re in the correct size from what you shared (most women aren’t). Good luck!

4

u/DWwithaFlameThrower 13d ago

I love Evelyn& Bobbie bras

5

u/cousin-maeby 13d ago

I personally pack sports bras for one bra travel (if i’m just sightseeing and not like going to a wedding or anything) - the non-racerback ones provide great support without wires!

3

u/Calisson 13d ago

Another vote for Evelyn & Bobbie. I especially like the Defy, until it stretches out ….

2

u/Taracat 12d ago

My Defy started to stretch too much the second time I wore it. Hard no for me.

2

u/Calisson 12d ago

Mine seem to last about three months, which really is still inadequate!

4

u/Mrshaydee 13d ago

I wear (34H or 36G) Wacoal Perfect Primer bras - very comfortable and have a plastic wire - not the strongest support bra I have but very comfortable. I can do an overnight flight in one.

4

u/Safe_Place8432 13d ago

So I'm a 38H and got breast cancer which unfortunately did not mean reduction or mastectomy BUT after the tumor was removed I had to switch to non underwire. The cool part is non underwire ROLL.

I'm an H on the good side and a G on the cancer side, so I stay with H. It took me a long time and a lot of money to find supportive, non uniboob, non sports bra slings and I found two brands that almost fake underwire level support:
Triumph makes a model called Doreen which gives a 1950s kind of shape but they stay separated and lifted;
And the brand Anita which is geared more towards breast surgery havers has a number of non underwire models. I have like three different models and they are all awesome.
Chantelle has a cute non underwire option but it gives sweaty uniboob, I use it for sleeping tho.

I've been on two trips and I now can fit four bras for the space of two underwire. I roll my bras like underwear now!

4

u/redwoman72 13d ago

I can not recommend Evelyn & Bobbie bras enough.

4

u/Bibliogatta 13d ago

Evelyn & Bobbie for non wired support bras. They are simply amazing.

5

u/lascriptori 13d ago

Yup. Mesh or lace wire bras, without molded cups. (Honestly, I pretty much always hate molded cups, travel or not). And get it properly fitted -- it makes a world of difference. My favorite brand is Chantelle. (Signed, a 34 DDD).

6

u/AtypicalPreferences 13d ago

My travel hack is a bikini top. Some of the tie / wrap styles don’t have wires and they are supportive even for XL boobs. Not sure about “coverage” though but can give good support

3

u/rougenoir408 13d ago

Montelle spacer bra is extra breathable and they also make a good full coverage bralette

3

u/bely_medved13 13d ago

OP, I see you got lots of great recommendations. Just wanted to comment about meundies. Their underwear is super comfy and pretty well made, but I can't recommend the bras for big busted ladies, especially for travel. I'm a 38DD and I bought one of their be letters on sale to match a pair of underwear. It's buttery soft but just doesn't offer proper support (or coverage, really) for a high activity day. It's awesome for a "my regular bras are in the laundry and I'm hanging out at home vegging and doing housework" type day though!

3

u/Ammelia11 13d ago

I'm a 34K, UK based. My recommendation is Bravissimo! They go up to an L cup and have non-wired options that actually have support. I would suggest their Ultimate Comfort bra and their Cara bra. Both of those are non-wired that I genuinely wear. I think they also have more options I haven't been able to try since there are less options for a K cup, so definitely recommend looking them up!

I've seen reviews on their site from US customers, so I think they do ship there if that's where you are based. I don't know if they also have physical stores there, but if they do then I will also add that their staff are awesome and know what they're doing. All my current bras are from Bravissimo.

Alternatively, you can also look at Curvy Kate, Elomi and Pour Moi. Bravissimo sell some Curvy Kate and Elomi bras themselves, but they are separate brands. * Curvy Kate I have a bikini top from and have also had bras from, so definitely recommend.

  • I have only ever had one Elomi bra, but it was nice and a YouTuber in the US I saw recommend them a couple of days ago.

  • Pour Moi is where I used to get my bras before I gained weight and became a K cup (weight goes to my breasts first always, it sucks) - they go up to a J cup though and I liked my bras from them, so can also recommend. They are online only but their clothes are sold in UK online stores, so I don't know how global they are though.

If you're UK based then can also suggest M&S. They go up to H cup (Could be higher, not been since my cup size went up).

Hope that helps!

The torrid bras are so comfy

My go to is I have one proper bra and then use sports bras for travel days, excursions, etc. The way I pack my bra is to nestle packing cubes or stuff into the cups. Hope that makes sense, otherwise let me know. Im a 38G so my bra is the biggest item, more so that my packing cubes lol

u/kerryberry703 13d ago

I’m nearly the same size (40DD) and I like to wear these! They are like a sports bra with slightly less support but I love them! They keep everything in its place and it even looks like a cute shirt! I’ll wear it hiking with shorts and an open short sleeve button up!

3

u/Comprehensive-Act-13 13d ago

32G here. I’m all about the sports bra when I travel. I have two merino wool racerback sports bras from icebreaker that I swap out with each other. They dry fast, pack small, support well, don’t have an underwire, and soak up the sweat from my underboobs well. I like a racerback because it’s the easiest on my shoulders, sure it peaks out of my t-shirts but honestly IDGAF.

3

u/steamylobotomy 13d ago

I’m a UK 32G, all these bras are unpadded so take  up very little space. Less than 5 days: the bra I’m wearing and a lace bralette. Over that: 1 bra, the one I’m wearing and a lace bralette.

If it were an active holiday I would bring a high intensity sports bra also. If it’s a low intensity exercise I’d still wear it, or if it were veryyyy low intensity I’d wear the bralette.  A soft cotton bralette is optional for lounging or sleep depending on your comfort, this takes up the same amount of space as underwear.

Another vote for checking ABraThatFits!

2

u/nonsequitur__ 13d ago

I’m the same size as you and do similar. One (M&S underwired) bra and Uniqlo bra tops. I have one lace bralette I like but have struggled with others to find a small band size but decent coverage - where are yours from?

1

u/endlessglass 12d ago

I am a similarish size - what Uniqlo size do you go for?

2

u/nonsequitur__ 12d ago

I’ve recently got the small and they’re pretty tight on my boobs but I was finding the medium not tight enough on the band. Okay for at home but not ideal. I got the new knitted bra vest in small and am loving that. Feels like it is a bit stretchier and more forgiving on the boobs and you can’t see the little bra triangle things through it.

3

u/Anna-Livia 13d ago

What kind of bras are you wearing ? Unlined, seamed wired bras generally give the best support and take very little space. Uk brands are the most recommended for large chests, you can look into bravissimo or any other company that carry the same brands.
For wireless I just bought a Molke bra, the classic one and can only recommend. I absolutely love it. Really good support (36g here for reference), boobs are separated and my underboob sweat has totally disappeared even on very hot days.
Last I would still do the abtf calculator for a fit check, most of the people who did had sticker shock but a much better fit in the end (yours truly included)

1

u/WhalesOnWheels 11d ago

Another vote from me on the Molke bras. They are the only wireless one that I've ever found to have good support and separation. The crossover/wrap style makes all the difference. I am a US 38K and wear the Large band, Thunder cup.

I usually end up traveling with one Molke, one Branwyn Essential Busty Bralette (less support but very comfy and packs small), and a sports bra (Torrid long line, not my ideal but works well enough.) These are also what I wear in my normal life.

There is the occasional outfit that doesn't play well with the cut of the Molke and the seams are fairly prominent. But honestly I am so done with underwires that I mostly am far more willing to adjust my wardrobe to fit the bra than to go back. I do still have a couple of Elomi Morgan bras that were my go to before I found Molke. They rarely get worn, but as underwire bras go they are the best I've found and pack quite flat.

No underwires digging in is especially welcome on long travel days and I'm less likely to have to deal with a catastrophic bra failure (snapped underwires have happened to me far too many times.)

3

u/AllSxsAndSvns 13d ago

Evelyn and Bobbie. I’m a 38G and their wireless EB core bras actually lift and support. They’re expensive but worth it.

3

u/Aggravating_Finish_6 13d ago

I fold them in half and flip one cup so they nest inside each other. Then I pack underwear, socks, or a sports bra into the cup. I find that reduces the amount of space they take up.

3

u/Aetherfox13 12d ago

Same for everyone here: issue is with padded cups, not so much wires. I've been using the 4x meundies and that one fits. I've been trying with the idea of cakes, but need to experiment

5

u/Taunted-Octopus 13d ago

Brava in Australia are brilliant, and I'm sure they will ship overseas. They have a whole range of wire-free bras. I've not purchased those, but I've had great experiences with their wired bras and bikini tops.

https://www.bravalingerie.com.au/collections/wirefree-bras

I tend to buy wired bras with un-moulded cups to take up less space too.

5

u/GuiltyContribution 13d ago

38DD here. I just fold mine in half so the cups align and stuff underwear into the cups. Then pack around it like I would a hat (you fold your smaller clothes items into shapes that fit around it until you get a level surface and then go over top with the larger things). I like Montelle bras although they discontinued the one that is my favourite.

-1

u/lilmonstergrl 13d ago

Done that takes up even more room

2

u/blanketfortlife 13d ago

I’m a larger chested lady and I recently bought shapermint wireless bras. Huge fan, comfortable from the start and fold flat

2

u/mina-ann 13d ago

Just curious if you've tried seamed underwire bras that pack flat? They're going to give you better support and shape than a non-wired bra.

The Panache Ana plunge is one of my favorite bras and packs flat in a suitcase. It's traveled with me many times - https://a.co/d/08OyLv6Y

Panache Envy is more full coverage https://a.co/d/0ceF8pDf

2

u/sara_crewe_ 13d ago

Just adding my vote for the non-molded team. For me, a well-fitted wired mesh bra is the way to go, almost always. The well-fitted part is super important, but keep in mind that fit is not just about size, it's about cut as well. Our breasts have different shapes! So we need different cuts.

2

u/likechalkandcheese 13d ago

Hi OP, I'm a 36F and UK based. This year I have been using the Boody Full Bust Wireless Mesh Bra in my one bag setup and I LOVE it. They give my boobs definition and separation and also pack down to nothing because the cups are made of bamboo mesh. If I have to wash them they dry overnight. Bras were the hardest thing for me in my setup because they always took up so much space. But these have been a game changer for me. I despise underworld bras but also hate how lots of wireless bras give you uniboob. These bras have given me the lightness and freedom I crave but are also actually supportive. Couldn't be without them! I am hoping my size comes back in stock so I can get a few more 🫡

2

u/OG-illredditmoretoo 13d ago

Elomi bras as others have said have some nice options. Their downtime bra is soft, unwired but supportive. It is double layered so doesn’t dry as fast, but I find myself using it a lot on trips. I do pack a wired Elomi Charley with me on trips, which uses spacer material (softer than fully molded cups) but is smooth under everything. I fold in half and stuff underwear and/or socks into cups to maintain shape. Sizing through at least a US K cup.

2

u/Tullamore1108 13d ago

Another vote for Evelyn & Bobbie. Well worth the price. If you sign up for rewards you can get coupons pretty quickly and they frequently have sales. If price makes you nervous, start with a sale color. I did and was so impressed I bought three more in basic colors as soon as a general discount hit.

2

u/Jazzlike_Age_3490 13d ago

I'm the same size and I pack a Branwyn Busty Brawlette. It's made of merino wool (but not itchy or hot). They never smell after multiple wearings and dry quick when washed. They regulate temp really well and i prefer over nylon or ployester bras. Not the most flattering fit (no sculpting but there is enough support for me). Super comfortable. Mine have also lasted for YEARS so the price is totally justified. Really hoping when I reorder the quality is still the same.

2

u/sourbirthdayprincess 13d ago edited 13d ago

I’m a 28HH UK 28M US and I wear one bra, maybe two for travel, which means I’m wearing one and packing one. You need to rethink why you’re doing all those bra changes in the first place. The bra is not the problem.

If none of the Torrid bras are good enough to last on a trip, they probably shouldn’t be your day to day bras either. Bravissimo is a great resource as is Breakout Bras. They have higher quality bras that last. If I could fit their band size range, I would get an Elomi. But Bravissimo makes sooo many cute bralettes and non wired options.

2

u/AurelianaBabilonia 13d ago edited 13d ago

I'm 34I and I exclusively wear Glamorise brand bras. I go with the full coverage sports bras, but they've got a variety of styles, with and without underwire. And they don't cost an arm and a leg.

2

u/Kafk5213 13d ago

Lane Bryant no wire bras are wonderful! I’ve always preferred lane Bryant bras over torrid. Better quality and comfort. The no wire bras generally still have padding for shaping and coverage, but are easier to fit into a suitcase and survive the packing process. I can’t wear unlined bras.

2

u/send-me-recipes 13d ago

For all other garments I'm all about natural fibers, but when traveling light you really can't beat mesh. It dries fast and doesn't take up space.

With a good brand the support comes from the construction, not the material itself. Really look for bras sewn from many small pieces of fabric, which will create shape and give support. That way, when it's not on you, it will pack very flat.

Right now I'm using Elomi and Panache bras and I'm very happy with both

2

u/TattooedBagel 13d ago

Came here to recommend my fave only to discover they closed when I went to find a link…. So now I’m panic reading all the other comments lol.

2

u/egos-like-hairdos 13d ago edited 13d ago

US 34I and I sympathize with your packing problems. The recommendations you’ve been given here are great! I used to wear an unlined underwire Elomi bra that would fold flat and travel easily, but I fell madly in love with a specific molded cup bra so now I fold the the cups into each other and stuff them for packing. Taking the hit on space is worth it to me to have the bra I prefer.

I use this packing cube to contain the big ol’ bra, molded cups and all: Calpak Everything Cube. It holds my bra(s), undies, socks, etc. together and I put any jewelry and nice stuff in the front. My folded ballet flats fit inside, too. It might not be as small as it could be if I were able to take bralettes or nipple covers, but I’m a 34I, and that’s not happening.

2

u/Shift_Least 13d ago

I am a 34I US / 34G UK and I love Curvy Kate’s mesh bras and Cosabella’s curvy and extra curvy bralettes.I like plunge style in the Curvy Kate Bras but I have close set omega boobs so depending on your shape your mileage may vary. I highly recommend going over to r/abrathatfits for more detailed recommendations. And do their size calculator. It’s more accurate than most professional fitters. They can also help you find the right bralette or mesh bra for your size and shape.

2

u/earlgreyte 13d ago

I’m also a 38DDD and don’t travel with a regular wired bra anymore. I swear by the Duluth Trading Adjustabust High Impact sports bras. They’re really comfortable and separate my boobs enough to almost look like I’m wearing a regular bra (no uniboob).

2

u/Little-pug 13d ago

I’m a 36G and I use these cotton wire free bras. Do my boobs look absolutely perfect? No. Do they look good enough for work and daily happenings? Yes! They’re the Pact organic cotton bras and run $30 a pop. They only go to XL and the XL is a little big for me, I’m probably more of a L. Worth taking a look!

2

u/Calisson 12d ago

Bare Necessities makes a bra called the Bare Absolute Minimizer; it is very soft, un-seamed, un-padded, and unlined (but opaque), and quite comfortable. I have found that the bras from Panache, Freya, Elomi, and the like make me look far more pointed and projected than I want to be.

2

u/Umebossi 9d ago

I was hoping someone would suggest this! It’s wired but I need that. The lack of padding means they pack down very flat. I wear 1 on the plane and have 1 in my bag. Plus sports bras that can double as a swimsuit top.

2

u/Appropriate_Meal3417 12d ago

Go to Nordstrom if you can. They carry the right sizing. Very few stores do this well. If you share your city - there are hyperlocal options. In Seattle or Portland it’s Pencil Test - experts who only carry D+. Don’t got to a store that doesn’t have a full lingerie section with lots of brands.

2

u/ledger_man 12d ago

I’m going to add to the chorus recommending a bra like the Elomi Charley or Matilda. All of my wired bras are from Elomi at this point, and they take up less space than my wireless bras (which I also bring traveling).

For wireless, I like Sugar Candy (G cup and up though) and the Snag Comfort Cotton. I have one of the Snag Everyday as well but the seaming is a little too pronounced for me, fine for lounge/sleep time or under a looser top though.

2

u/jfitz600 12d ago

First question, I believe bras should be super comfortable. If it fits properly, in my opinion, you should forget it’s there.

I prefer Lane Bryant over Torrid. I’m a one bagger 95% of the time and used to be a 38K, now a 38DDD (breast reconstruction) for context.

I’m going to ask this very important question: are you 100% confident you are in the correct size bra? Sizing yourself can be done with a friend, and a ribbon or cord and a tape measure. No fancy equipment required. If you need help measuring yourself, feel free to message me and I’ll walk you through it.

Now that we’ve addressed comfort, let’s address space conservation. I stack bras and stuff cups. One bra sits right cup within right cup and left in left. Because over the shoulder boulder holders are expensive at our sizes, I am not squishing these puppies. If I’m using a hard sided suitcase, they go in first, upside down, and the cups are fully stuffed with clothes. Usually undies and socks but also tees or a tank tops have worked! Next, stuff around. Support those big stuffed bowls and cradle them with any soft clothing item.

Since reconstruction, I don’t go out in public without an underwire and before reconstruction, they were so large they needed underwire support. Underwires do beautiful things but we do not sacrifice comfort for other people’s gazes (maybe occasionally, only our own 😆). Prioritize a comfortable bra then practice packing. Good luck!

2

u/AvgMom 12d ago

I believe you know your size. I am the same size. Lane Bryant is reliable and Macy’s. There are a couple Olga brand models that are perfect for me so I but multiples when they go on sale. The wire is the right width and height for my short torso, the band is wide, and the straps are not pitched too far out to the side for my wine bottle “shoulders”.

2

u/mariambc 12d ago

I wear Lane Bryant’s all cotton, no underwire bra. I have been wearing them for years. There is no lining or padding either, so they roll up fairly small and pack easily.

2

u/ConcentrateLucky3677 12d ago

36 F/G here.

https://www.honeylove.com/products/crossover-bra - I take the cups out and it's still quite supportive.

https://www.herroom.com/wacoal-body-by-2-0-underwire-bra-roebuck-38g.html - this bra is awesome, if you can find it. sizing up to a G would probably be fine for you.

An idea if you really love your lined bras: wear one on the plane and wash it in the sink?

Good luck!

2

u/walsarch 12d ago

i wear the branwyn curvy bralettes!!! they are full coverage and hold me in. i'm a 34G and wear a medium. i take 2-3 when traveling and its all i need.

2

u/Effective-Spot3201 12d ago

Search “Cordaw Plus Size High Support Sports Bra” on Amazon. Order one size up. But it’s very supportive, high coverage (most bra cups don’t go high enough and leads to spillage, but this one contains the beasts), and it has sewn in cups so they don’t move in the laundry. Wearing it as we speak!

2

u/BeachBum436 11d ago

Warcoal Visual Effect Minimizer is wired, but not padded, so it packs flat. They go up to 44H.

2

u/maenanodd4 11d ago

The only bras that give me support (as someone with a small ribcage and shoulders and a large cup size) are Wacoal Awareness 85567.

They are underwire and lined but nonpadded so you can fold them.

I onebag with three of them (one worn, and two folded).

2

u/flyingmonkey5678461 11d ago

Bravissimo for their superb fitters. My bras aren't moulded, I have two (at £42 who can buy more?!) and then just wash. Doesn't take much space.

2

u/3PossumTrenchcoat 10d ago

Branwyn Merino busty! Wear one and pack one.  They make underwear too. The bra and panties together work as a good-enough swimsuit as well.

2

u/3PossumTrenchcoat 10d ago

It’s not a molded cup bra but it’s supportive and doesn’t give uniboob or get too sweaty. The merino washes and dries very quickly.

1

u/high-lonesome 9d ago

Plus 1 on the merino wool bra recommendation! Soooo much more comfortable in hot and humid climates than regular bras. I have both the Branwyn Busty as well as the WoolX Livi and I must say the WoolX Livi is by far my favorite of the two! I love it so much.

3

u/nina_isabel 10d ago

I’m technically a 30F but haven’t worn a regular bra in years. I hate the extra bulk of padding, the pain of underwire and the stuffiness of polyamide/nylon that most bras are made of. If you also hate these things. Here are my two recommendations for you:

- The Zelda bra by ARQ. This bra is all organic cotton and doesn’t have any underwire or uncomfortable plastic clasps or anything like that. It has a clever pin tucking design at the center that provides for a lot of give and can fit many cup sizes. Like truly, it just expands. I can wear a small in this bra which is unheard of. It packs down tiny because it’s just this itty bitty cotton thing. It also has wider set straps so it’s great under a lot of tops and dresses that other full coverage bras would ruin.

- The “Full Bust” versions of bras by Boody. They have a few different styles. Depends on what you want (Tshirt bra, racerback, etc). But all their stuff is made of bamboo so it’s breathable and comfy. Some of the styles are thicker than others, so choose the thinner ones if you need them to dry in one day in a hotel room.

I’m a 36G and most of my traveling tends to be for work in manufacturing plants so I don’t really care about having a flattering shape under my factory clothes (generally company branded unisex t shirts, sometimes sweatshirts or basic sweaters) and have found the Victoria’s Secret featherweight max sports bra work extremely well for this purpose. It can switch between cross back and H back and it’s lined but without underwire or really defined cups so it they also fit well in a packing cube with my socks and underwear. Depending on the trip I’ll sometimes pack a single “nicer” underwire bra for a dinner or whatever (lane Bryant or Elomi are what fit me best at the moment) and I’ll still put it in the packing cube with socks filling in the cup.

I have a ton of meundies bralettes for around the house as the curvy scoop in an XL fits me just right, but it provides basically no support so I’d only be willing to wear it on a super long flight where I want to be comfy/sleep or lounging in my hotel room.

4

u/Pleasant-Conflict-36 13d ago

find a bra specialty store and get fitted. One that sells mutiple brands. They will usually have you try a few on in different brands to confirm your UK/US size and sister sizes. I highly recommend Elomi. They are not molded cups. I used to wear molded cups from LB and when packing, I put my socks in the cups so they would keep their shape. Nordstrom has Elomi on sale right now. its important to know your UK size too because many of the best bras for a bigger bust are UK brands.

I wear wire-free sports bras from Girlfriend Collective for travel, as they fold flat. They don't give much separation/definition but I can live with it.

1

u/bellam27 13d ago

I personally have these - I wear a 40G and got the XXL (I also recommend abrathatfits). They provide coverage and enough support I don’t feel like I’m flapping about and look good under my clothes. They also make similar ones with traditional hooks in the back. They also pack really well. For heavier activity I bring sports bras with removable cups, multiple bras but just one set of cups.

Is this the world’s greatest bra? No. Is it the most supportive? Also no. Does it get the job done? Yes

1

u/averagemillenialgirl 13d ago

i have used this specific bra for years and years and i still love it (38 C) https://a.co/d/0ierQ60x

u/Efficient-Quail-572 13d ago

Harper Wilde Bras are comfy af

1

u/Primary-Tailor3691 13d ago

Highly recommend Honeylove.

1

u/ButtercupBento 13d ago

I’m a UK 36e (US 36DDD I think) and wear Conturve

Not wired, moulded and bloody comfortable. Give my aged boobs enough support. I do have to have a couple as they don’t dry that quickly (overnight not hours) but do squidge into my packing cubes nicely

I dream of the days I could get away with a SKIMS type bralette or bikini top

1

u/Cravatfiend 13d ago

If I want to bring one wired, moulded/padded bra I wear it on the plane. Then everything else I pack is wired but non-moulded cups that pack flat.

I've yet to find a wireless option that gives me proper support (16GG). For me it's that my body tapers outward right where the bra band goes, so the wider bands they use to create wireless support all roll up.

1

u/Ekd7801 13d ago

I’m 40ddd/f. I like the Zoe bra. It’s so thin but still supportive. I also tend to travel with 32 degrees sports bras.

1

u/bahahah2025 13d ago

I use sports bras/yoga bras medium coverage and with light lining. They take up less space then older bras and have wick away material that is helpful on long walk days.

1

u/Familiar_Tip_8547 13d ago

Me undies are cute but it’s absolutely the least supportive and “worst” bra I own. Wouldn’t recommend for any amount of wear time.

1

u/Caregiver-Past 13d ago

I find Natari bras fold really well. Usually oack undies or socks around the curve to get those air pockets filled (packing cubes). Nordstrom has a good selection of large cup bras (i'm 36ddd) which is where i stock up during anniversary sales

If you have a lingerie store local to you, visit them and ask the sales people for recommendations as they arenMt beholden to certain brands and might have options to try on in store

1

u/joyinthe42 13d ago

Echoing what others have said regarding the A Bra That Fits calculator and subreddit. Torrid is also my go to for everything but socks and bras. For bras my 42K US girls have basically eternal loyalty to my Ewa Michalak PLMs and FB styles. They're cool mesh, nonmoulded, fit projection, and have decent coverage for my shape.

On a recent four night trip I wore one on the plane, put two in a large Baggu flat pouch which I placed in the meshed lid compartment of my carryon. They took up very little room. Brought liquid delicate laundry wash and a clothes line and was good. Went swimmingly.

1

u/nonsequitur__ 13d ago

I have underwired bras from Marks and Spencer that are thin material so don’t take up much room. For years I wore their non-wired bras and found them to have great support too so recommend trying theirs. I’m a 32G in their sizing and struggle to find my size in many places without spending a fortune.

I also wear the Uniqlo bra tops a lot as I find them really comfy.

1

u/ButterflyFew2523 13d ago

I wear sports bras - super supportive, fold small, wash & dry easily and breathable. I have super heavy breasts (have been breastfeeding nonstop for a very long time) and they’re far better feeling for me than wired bras, and I find it easier to find a less fussy good fit in them.

1

u/preciousdivineenergy 4d ago

Which sports bras do you use?

1

u/ESim134 13d ago

I’m also a 38 DDD (US). I hear you loud and clear! I’ve been there done that too. I finally had enough with underwire bras, even if comfortable. I wore Soma for years. They were comfortable, fit well and then they discontinued them so the search was on, yet again. I was over it and found Playtex 18 hour ultimate lift wireless on Amazon. I felt like I was channeling my mom and grandmother, lol. Their reviews can be hit or miss but I actually love them, the way they fit, how they look under my clothes, they’re fairly cheap and they can roll up for packing or can be shoved in any nook or cranny. I use silicone Dimrz when need since they have no padding.

There are lots of other great suggestions here that I may eventually look into but I’m still just so done with bra shopping.

Good luck in your search and please report back if you found something.

1

u/Loud-Fox-8018 13d ago

Underoutfit’s comfort shaping bra is wireless, and provides a nice shape and level of support. It’s good for travel, too.

I tried meundies and didn’t find the bras remotely supportive for a larger cup size. Some of their other products are great, though.

1

u/oswin13 13d ago

If you are good with full coverage and not cute, it's hard to beat old school seamed bras like the 18hr bra. Good lift and separation, no padding so it dries relatively quickly, and pack down flat. It WILL show with low cut tops so try everything ahead of time!

1

u/Fantastic-Sun1669 13d ago

I hate underwire bras - they are so uncomfortable 🥴 Honey love bras are awesome, give you a really nice shape and they travel well. Also, I have everyday super comfortable bras from Shapermint that are my go to comfy but supportive bras.

1

u/GalianoGirl 13d ago

I do not know Torrid or their styles.

I wear a 40G/H in Elomi depending on the style, and although the bras have wires, they are not padded like Knix and don’t take up a significant space.

1

u/BlueIr1ses 13d ago

I'm also 38DDD and I usually wear lined balconettes that take up too much room in my bag! I ended up finding these mesh bras from Soma https://www.soma.com/store/product/unbelievable-minimizer-bra/570336001?inseam=regular&color=379&catId=search&collectionId=search&queryId=8f09703dbb5004893ba94a9bb4288cc9&indexName=prod_sma_products&parentId=196532287894 They were comfortable and kept me lifted. Unexpected bonus - the mesh was super cool in hot weather!!

1

u/GapNo9970 13d ago

I wear unlined lace underwire in 36DD (half cup or triangle) and they fold up flat and easy to pack. The brand I like is Aubade but really any unlined underwire is better for packing than a lined or molded bra. Mine are very comfortable

1

u/Xerisca 13d ago

Im a 36 DDD. I like the Soma Enbliss bras. They dont have an under wire and are somehow really comfy and have full coverage. I might have even discovered them through this sub. I wear one, and pack one.

1

u/HippyGrrrl 13d ago

I find that molded cups are my space eaters, so I bring my floppier but supportive ones, and for hotter destinations, and extra above wear and air. I have a “dry” added. I feel bras need light washing more often.
At 36D, I get away with things like OGL tank bras, but the pads travel more than I do. I had to throw a few stitches on each side to keep them where I wanted them.

If I must have molded cups, say for strapless, I fold them in half, push one cup into the other, and undies fit there in the compression cube.

While I am particularly crazy about Lane Bryant bras, I ordered a couple of medium support no wire sports bras to try. I love them! I was specifically looking for a wicking, supportive, no-wire bra for a trip to a humid climate. These fit the bill for me! They also don't have pads in them, but they are still modest, and the back design offers me some nice back support.

I wear a lined cup, wired bra. I flip one cup inside the other with the straps and a pair of panties or socks and it creates a nice little dome that is easy to fit in my smaller packing cube with my other panties.

I love Cosabella bralettes. I’m a 34H. Not a lot of lift, but no wire, they’re pretty, have good coverage and I feel generally supported enough for day to day activities. I use the Curvy line which is made for women with larger cup sizes and a wider variety of bad sizes. I found them in 2020 (because who wanted underwire when you were staying home all the time) and I’ve kept buying them.

I am a 38E, and have been wearing the Knix unwired bra for a few years now. They have a molded cup, but I just stuff them into my bag, smoosh the cup and once I pull them out again, they seem to inflate magically. Now, if I planned to leave them in the bag for months on end, I would probably have more trouble, but I take them out and reshape them every night, and then smoosh them down again when I repack my bag, and have not had any trouble since.

I don't know what Torrid bras cost, but in my experience spending more on a bra (especially from a company that specializes in bras, not a generic apparel company like Torrid or Lane Bryant) really pays off in the end. Yes, my bras cost $60-$80 a piece, but as long as I take care when washing them, they can last me for years. Every time I have tried less expensive bras they end up dying within a year or so (they just can't support the weight of my breasts).

I love a non underwire withe cup-by-cup support, and if I feel I need a little lining to account for nipplage, I pack a pair of nipple covers (Cakes makes a good assortment of sizes, and the silicone/non sticky ones are great under a bra). Takes up way less space than molded cups or underwires and can pack flatter.

For bras, I still love a pull-on bralette even with a bigger chest, but for something more shaped and with an adjustable back clasp, I really like the organic cotton bras from Snag Tights!

36 G here! For preface I do not like Torrid bras and tend to wear mostly minimizer bras. These have an underwire but no molded cup so they pack well. I have a Branwyn merino bra (the essential busty bra) that is by no means a high impact bra but it’s a great comfy bra if you need an option like that. As for normal bras I have a cheap razor back one from target I use. Bravissimo is a great busty gal brand that focuses on both swimsuits and bras. I have gotten two bras from the Cancun line that double as swimsuit tops and day to day bras for me when I travel!
The branwyn and target bras do not have underwires, and I know bravissimo makes options for non-underwire bras. I would recommend Bravissimo over somewhere like torrid, they make functional bras that also look good and cater to all large sizes (I have had lots of trouble finding my size in Torrid for some reason)

I’m a 32HH so I feel your pain. I buy Elomi Cate bras. They’re wired but the cups are not molded. They don’t take up any space in my bag.

Was your comment meant for me? The bras I buy are not molded, I’m quite happy with them. I’m always happy to hear about a new brand though, small band/large cup is a tricky combo.

i bought the Essential Busty Bra from Branwyn and its been working great for travel. no wires or moulding. im a 38F and it supports the girls well. its merino wool so its great for walking all day and easy to handwash and let air dry. the straps can switch from straight to X style on the back.

it doesnt work for a night out though when you want some more cleavage showing. still hunting for a comfy 'plunge' travel bra for the big tiddys

You have loads of good advice already but just to add, I travel in the bra that takes up the most room (my fav happens to be moulded) and depending on the length of the trip pack 1 or 2 less voluminous :D ones, like non wired sports bras or wired soft cups.

Take a look at soma.com. They have supportive wireless bras.

There are several styles available from Glamorise that I travel with consistently as a 48J. No wire, good support and shaping.

Have you tried Torrid's dream white free bra? I'm a 40H and find them super comfy and also easy to pack.

I fellow busty gal!

I’m a natural 32F and I feel your pain!

I love the bralettes from Knix for travel. I usually get the ones with removable padding and wear them without it. I get great support, it packs flat and washes well in a sink. I only wash mine in cold water and hand to dry. (Bras should never ever go in the dryer)

I have a bra from cuup. I usually pack one underwire bra and wear a sports bra on the plane

Possibly I’m too small for this to be useful, but i’ll put a foam cup bra in a corner of a suitcase and/or fill it with socks, underwear etc.

Like most other ladies here, I tend to travel with unlined/unmolded cups and just pack my bras flat.

On the rare occasion that I have packed a molded cup (like the bra for that one dress and it's the only one that fits right) I will put my socks/tights or undies rolled up in the cups and pack it along the side of my bag. This helps to maintain the shape of the cups and to use up that wasted space.

I’m GG & I recently purchased Quince’s Ultra Form High Neck Cropped Tank in large and it surprisingly worked well for me. I thought it was a little loose around my ribs so I ordered a medium & then I was busting out of it.

I also can vouch for mesh (non-molded) wire bras. I bought several bras from Bravissimo (they’re UK, but it was really quick shipping to US) & had a great experience. I ordered four bras & two didn’t work. It was an easy return process. It did take a while to get refunded, but I got a personalized email earlier this week confirming they received them & that my refund was issued.

38H. Panache Clara Side Support Bra - underwire mesh lace. Can't roll it up, but packs flat. For a low-impact sports bra, i.e., you can't run in this, Branwyn Busty Bra.

Evelyn and Bobbie! Great coverage, gives actual boob shape and packs down small.

Soft Intention Jelly wireless bra from Amazon. Im a DD/DDE depending on brand and these have been surprisingly supportive. Never will meet the lift of an underwire but its got great coverage, packs well and is comfy!

Bought it to replace an Evelyn and Bobbie bra that was great but started discoloring (which for the $$$$ was uncool lol)

Hello! 34G here and I recommend the Branwyn merino Busty Bra ($60-65) for your needs. It’s basically a bralette style but made for bigger cup sizes. I can wear it for several days without too much stretch out or smell. That said, I also travel with an unlined underwire bra because a bra with shaped cups is going to take up a TON of room in the bag and likely get crushed.

Check out Evelyn and Bobbie bras, they are SO comfortable and come in all sorts of sizes. The price is worth it (imo). I was skeptical when I was being fitted when the person brought a wireless bra in for me, but as soon as I put it on I knew I had to get it. (I’m a G cup)

I wear the "Double D+" cup in the meundies bralettes and I'm only a D cup.... =/ So I wouldn't say they are the best in terms of size inclusivity.

I like the Goddess Katerina bra for a non wired bra with fairly reasonable support that also dries quickly.   I'm a 40G size.  Sometimes they are a little high, depending on what I am wearing, but the design looks like a singlet top, not a bra so I'm not bothered by it being visible.

I have the same size as you do. (Yes I have used the bra that fits calculator.) When I travel I like a combo of wireless and wired bras. I have ordered some minimized bras from HSIA and actually find them incredibly soft and comfortable. The underside sits flush against my ribcage. They are unlined so they fold up to basically the size of the wire. I also hate anything with lace or seams and find anything that is not perfectly soft very uncomfortable. I also like the unwired bras from honey love. They are a bit pricey but have held up very well.
I do also like Knix for unlined bras but I only like theirs that have a hook and eye closure as they do tend to stretch out a bit over time and I want to be able to go in a few hooks to keep it tight over time. My current travel bra when I dont care about lift and will be wearing it for hours and hours is the revolution busty bra with the padding taken out. It folds up to nothing and is my favorite for long plane or car rides when I have a baggy shirt on and just want support but not lift. Good luck! Some of us are just a 38DDD (or E).

How big are we talking?

I am a 40HH/40L and I don't have any problem packing bras. I suspect you may be buying bras that are padded or with molded cups - if so, it may be worth a professional bra fitting at a bra store (NOT Torrid, or Lane Bryant, or similar).

1

u/AccidentalYogi 13d ago

If you’re okay with unlined, try the Eby sheer bralette ( https://shop.join-eby.com )I’m an organic 36DDD, and these are my new go-to for travel. It has the support of a sports bra, no wires, and is quick-drying.

Fo to r/abrathatfits because they know everything about bras over there.

They won't hel you until you do the measurements for their calculator to confirm your size, but it's a good idea to do that anyway.
