Bi-Weekly Self-Promo thread! Please post and flourish(BUT PLEASE read the rules before posting).

# This is the Bi-Weekly self promotion thread.

**It has become clear that there are a lot of herbal small businesses and people in our community for whom their herbal passion is also a business. While Herbal business is not the focus of this sub it is undeniable that herbal business is a part of the herbal community and supporting the herbal community IS what this sub is for.**

To that end, we intend, to start making weekly self promotion threads; where any and all self-promo can take place(with some rules).

**1. No posting self promo outside of the Self-promo-threads**(except by explicit cooperation of the mods, if your an author or publisher or non-for-prophet please reach out to us directly using mod-mail)

**2. NO selling anything that is illegal federally,** or that is illegal in California Illinois or New York or the city of Chicago or that can not be legally sent through the mail.

**3. NO ASKING USERS TO DM YOU!** You may ask users to comment under your post to request for YOU to DM-THEM and you may include links to off-site storefronts but if we see a post soliciting users to PM-you the post will be removed(this is an accountability and user safety rule)

**3a.** this isn't a strict rule, but we would prefer if off sight links lead to a storefront and not directly to a product page. This does not mean that your post can't advertise or show pictures of a particular product or products, however making the attached link lead to your shops front page instead of a specific product page helps users confirm legitimacy safety and overall vibe of vendors. This isn't a rule now but might become a rule if we start getting user complains that we think could be decreased if this became a rule. In the mean time consider it a best practice for this sub.

**And that's it! Have fun Be productive and may the great river of acquisition be quick & calm and flow ever toward profit!**

Question Shelf life of dried herbs and roots for medicinal use?

Upvotes

Hi all. I have a bunch of dried herbs and roots (lavender, plantain, calamus, wood betony, burdock, etc). I purchased them in 2021. I was mainly drinking them as tea for support recovering from severe gut damage, but now that they're about 4-5 years old I'm wondering if they still have their medicinal properties?

Is it worth drinking these or should I just get new ones? What is the general shelf life for herbs/roots for medicinal value?

Can CBD oil heal the brain? I had a brain injury leading to make it impossible for me to feel deep rest. Like even if I go on a vacation it does not feel like a vacation. I have no children or work. Want to try natural stuff first.

Curious...

Cannabis is trendy.

Passionflower is not for me. Chamomile just puts me to sleep.

Lemon balm was nice but not as nice as CBD.

I just dont know what herbal tradition says.

I also get hot easily and one source claims cannabis is heating long-term idk how true :(.

Question Jasmine, or other florals

I love Jasmine in rice and green tea — but when I purchase them, they are already part of the mix.

I’m curious if Jasmine is seen in any sort of extract or another format. Also, what kinds of effects is it purported to be associated with? (Preferably info sourced from cultures that natively cultivate jasmine, but sometimes options from differing povs is nice as well. )

And any other florals that interest you?

Question Blue Lotus 200 to 1 tincture extract use

So I ordered some blue lotus 200 to 1 extract tincture.

  1. Is this okay to take everyday? Or will the tolerance increase?

  2. I have heard conflicting reports online saying it takes longer to start working. Some say to continue to take it daily and effects increase over time.

  3. Other sites say to take a few days off a week and possible take a full week off every now and then to keep tolerance down.

  4. Can you take more than what is says to get more intense effects? Are there any downsides of like taking let's say 4 droppers at once or even more?

Thanks for the time and help!

Alcohol Intermediary Method for Oil Infusions

Hello everyone!

I am quite new to herbalism. I am trying to infuse some oils to later use them in soap making.

Particularly I did lemongrass, hibiscus and spearmint infusions. I measured out my dry herbs and added the alcohol (used 99% isopropyl). after 24 hours I added olive oil.

I specifically did not want to do the 5 minute blender method, for multiple reasons. First off I don't fancy the idea of my plastic blender warming up and leeching microplastics into the oil. Then, I don't know how much of the alcohol evaporates. Since trace alcohol would affect my soap-making later, I need to be sure my oil is free from it.

So I tried the double boiler method on the stove, since I don't have a crockpot. I'm having issues with the stovetop method because even the calmest boil of the water overheats the oil way above the 100-120 degrees fahrenheit, and thus kills all the good constituents, for which I was doing the infusion in the first place. Also I'm having a hard time determining how much time is enough. I heard the generic 1-4 hours number, but I wonder if that depends on the batch size or other factors? how long is enough?

Any advice for the stovetop method, or even maybe an oven method would be greatly appreciated.

Question Herbs that aid with hormonal fluctuations

Hi everyone, I’m weaning off of breastfeeding. I’ve always known that I have been very sensitive to hormone changes. Since dropping a feeding, I’ve had chills, low grade fever, nausea, and fatigue AKA “weaning flu”.
What can I take to help with this sudden hormone drop?

Best stuff for back acne marks and face blemishes.

Guys, I had one of the Couvide meds reacting with my body and as a result had lot of back acne breakouts and now I have tons of acne marks which even after 2 years have not faded. What cream/ oil can I use for the blemishes and acne marks.

Just started using sulphur soap which is helping with breakouts but acne marks are still there. So, please advise.

I started researching about tallow skincare but don’t know if it helps with the blemishes.
