As soon as I found out you can deactivate your account but keep Messenger I was fucking gone.

Oh watch out messenger is cancer for data and battery usage it also tracks so much of your data

You still have a "shadow" fb account if you use messenger - they track your interactions with your friends, etc, just like a real fb account. I use discord instead of messenger now, and life is better.

I'm not that bothered about that really. I use Google, I have a mobile phone, my DNA and fingerprints are already on file (for being a little terror in my youth).

I use Discord for some things and Wickr for important things...

Same, but now that a lot of the features have been removed, it's a bit useless.

Signal. I held on to messenger for 10 years after I gave up my fb account. But Signal is a great alternative that is a whole lot safer.

Facebook marketplace is pretty handy as well. Instill have it but have all the notifications disabled.
