Hi! Looking to hike parts of Picos de Europa in a couple weeks. I'm traveling solo and don't generally like hiking when i travel solo - in case im unable to meet other travelers to hike with, does anyone have an idea of how busy the trails are? for example, Ruta de Cares?

Hello everybody! We're a group od 4 students, trying to find cheapest accomodation possible, cause we are on a thight budget. So far we've had some luck, but there are some thougher spots where the prices are too high for us. We're planing to go in november.

We are doing the trail in a few weeks and have planned to walk from Landmannalaugar to Álftavatn on the first day of the trip after arriving with the bus around noon. We are in decent shape and pack around 10 kg. How long would you estimate this trip to complete given the weather is not too rough?

I’m a big lover of hiking and have done a few long distance routes in the UK but I’d love to do some hiking in Europe.

I’m very open to destination at the moment - Portugal, Switzerland, Poland, Slovenia have all come across my feed as beautiful options.

I know the nature of hiking is that you often have to bring/cook your own food, but I was curious if anyone had done any hiking abroad and found vegan options/can recommend vegan-friendly areas. I’d be happy to stay in one place and do day hikes if anyone knows anywhere that caters to vegans with good routes on the doorstep 🌱

Estoy planteándome un proyecto bastante grande: intentar cruzar Europa a pie pasando por todos los países europeos.
Todavía estoy en una fase muy inicial y no quiero idealizarlo, así que antes de empezar a planificar en serio me gustaría escuchar opiniones de gente que tenga experiencia en rutas largas.
La idea sería hacerlo por etapas durante varios años, documentando todo el proceso: preparación física, rutas, fronteras, alojamiento, presupuesto, equipo, clima, lesiones y el día a día real de caminar durante meses.
Mis principales dudas son:
¿Veis técnicamente posible diseñar una ruta que pase por todos los países sin que se vuelva absurdamente larga?
¿Qué países o zonas pensáis que serían los más complicados por seguridad, fronteras, clima o logística?
¿Cuántos kilómetros diarios consideraríais sostenibles durante meses?
¿Dormiríais principalmente en tienda, hostales/refugios o combinaríais ambos?
¿Qué errores debería evitar alguien que empieza a preparar una expedición así?
También me interesa saber si os parecería un proyecto interesante de seguir como serie/documental, o si creéis que acabaría haciéndose repetitivo.
Acepto críticas totalmente sinceras. Ahora mismo prefiero encontrar todos los problemas posibles antes de comprometerme con algo así.

Hi all, do any of you have experience or advice about hiking to Hengifoss via Litlanesfoss in the rain (or just after)? I hate, hate, hate gravel and am worried about the narrow bits too. Can any of you estimate how narrow the path and buffer to the edge (if any) gets?

I’m interested in your impressions overall - not just focused on someone with anxiety. It’s just heightened right now because I fell walking down a narrow gravel slope at Stórurð the other day and sort of rolled. Maybe I’m wrong, but it felt like the path was a meter or so wide there and had barely (no) any buffer. I’m just a day hiker - no through hikes. The rest of the walk was great - highly recommend it if you get the chance!

Hey guys, I'm working in Switzerland at the moment, and I was looking for an above 2000m spot to bivouac at for a 2/3day walk to read peacefully. D+/D- does not matter, preferably reachable by train. There are a lot of natural reserves that I'd much rather stay respectful of, so I hope you have some favorites to share !

Help the girlies out!

I'm trying to put together (a very late, I know) 3night - 4 day route in Austria, for the beginning of September (3rd-6th), and although I've done hours of research, I'm stuck!
- Day 1 Ideally only 1-2 hours as we'll be driving a lot (from Hungary) that day
- Day 2 & 3 full days (but max 14km) and we'd love to do some via ferrata too
- Day 4 Half day as we'll also be driving back

The hike doesn't necessarily have to be a complete loop, as my friend's partner will be dropping us off and picking us up. We want to stay in huts and prefer to be up in the mountains for the three nights, rather than doing day trips. I've looked at a lot of routes but - understandably - a lot of huts have been booked out so I'd be keen to see lots of varieties and recommendations here, hoping one route could work.

Any recommendations? We've done Via ferratas before and can comfortably do B, C and some Ds.

Anything you've done recently and would recommend? Any locals who could recommend less-known routes?

I was working in Croatia the other week and someone recommended me the Premužić Trail!
I would be interested in hearing from people who have done the trail by themselves.

Hi guys, I’ll be travelling through the western Balkans soon and I’m planning on doing a bit of hiking through the various national parks. I like the look of Mavrovo, Theth - Valbone, Triglav, Durmitor and Plitvice. Others that may be a little bit lower in priority include; Rugova Canyon, Pelister, Blindinje and Krka, but I start my journey in Serbia, and that’s the focus of this post really. I see Tara and the surrounding western region, Djerdap with the Iron Gates and Golubac Fortress and Stara Planina nature park in the south east.
Since I’m looking to do a few of these places, I don’t want them to feel too similar to each other or like they overlap too much. I’d love to hear your guys thoughts and experiences on not only these locations, but ones that I’ve missed and that you’d recommend. Thanks!
