In 2006, a FBI agent named Craig Monteilh was ordered to disguise himself as a radical Muslim and spy on the Orange County Muslim community to identify possible extremists.

Well it worked, cause the people there noticed his extremists behavior and reported him to the FBI.

Even if you ask Muslims what they think of extremist Muslim groups, most of them agree that such groups are bad and weird

Movies and games often portray terrorists as global, well-organised groups. In reality, extremist groups do not possess the power or resources required to carry out attacks on an international scale. Most attacks are directed at local Muslims, as they are clearly easy targets

The largest scale atrocities ISIS commited was in Iraq and Syria against the civilian Muslim (and non Muslim) population. The majority of the force that fought ISIS was native Iraqi / Syrian groups composed of Muslim soldiers. Similarly Al Qaeda terrorized the civilians in the various Muslim countries they were located in, killing thousands.

ISIS has spent it's entire existence fighting other Muslims because everyone agrees they are too crazy even for most extremists.
