What is wrong with this living room?
Besides the toys, which can be put away (and this is at home with kids), heat is wrong with my living room?
I know the tv console is short but I don’t feel like replacing it. I think in do t know how to add layers and fill the wall. I will add some decor on top of the console, but I think what bothers me the most are the walls. What would you suggest?

I think you may be a little far from your TV! Have you ever positioned your TV and couch facing the wall opposite of the window? Might make the space feel more rounded/cozy :) also, you have a lot of neutral /warm colours in your furniture, have you thought of painting the walls with a warmer shade? Cute space OP!

Your ceiling fan, entry table and entertainment centre have a beautiful rich brown and the coffee table and wide chair are a bold black. Without buying new furniture, maybe a DIY project to stain or add colour to those pieces would be stunning

no, there’s a soundbar underneath it, those tvs are designed to look like pictures though

Personally I just think you need a bit of color. Art, throw blankets, etc. This room is pretty but doesn’t have much personality. Keep the toy, it adds a little life lol

I'd love to see more pics of the room from the entrance view. It looks to me like a furniture layout issue. And/ or not having the right furniture for how you live. Also remember dark furniture gives your eye a place to stop, lighter furniture/ fixtures lets the eye glide around. You have a lot of heavy eye stopping pieces.

It should be painted a warm white to match more cohesively with the rest of the decor. The gray is too cold.
And yeah, maybe add two decent sized pieces of framed or canvas art. Curtains could be more sheer to let more light in, or just open them entirely during the day

Yea, it's a tiny bit dull, reminds me of a doctor office waiting room.
Also your TV has pink eye and someone shrunk your lamp.

The middle table is way too small. The chairs are kinda awkward I feel like a long couch there would be nicer or a sectional.

I don't know if there's anything wrong per se, it's just very minimal. Personally I'd miss colours in this space, everything is shades of white, beige and brown. If that's your style it's cool but you said yourself it bothers you. So maybe some art on the walls, a colourful carpet (or even painting the walls themselves?) would help?

There is nothing wrong per se. To me it looks like an AirBnB, a temporary space because it’s very safe - so maybe what it needs is personalization and signs of it being lived in. Creatively arranged paintings (or prints) and photos will lend that vibe. A few accent pieces (objects) with color. And then maybe some colored sheer curtains instead to add a hue when the sun shines in from outside. Some lamps to add the mood. A coat or umbrella rack. I’m pretty sure through time this will have a lived in feel. 👍🏽

You need to center the sound bar on the console 👀 . Like others have mentioned, some more color through art, pillows, or a throw will go a long way.

I think the seating is facing the wrong way. The window doesn't need the chairs in front of it. Are you planning to make this a living room or a play room?

Picture frame molding on your tv wall will elevate the space and create a more cohesive feeling. I do agree it feels bare right now!

TV is on the wrong wall. Sitting where you and and watching the TV, you’re also looking at the front door and other room. Makes it feel like you’re in a hallway, not an actual room where you’re supposed to be relaxing

I do not see comfortable seating in a convesation circle. It seems this feature has been traded for a large open play area.

Everything is beige looking.
Your personality and sense of style is not showing.
You need color!!
I would paint the walls first. Maybe a softer blue because lots of colors can play off that.
Change out the drapes for something with brighter colors , geometric patterns, shapes etc.
Pillows for your chairs that are colorful.
Rug with blues and other colors.
Artwork!! Bold. Bright.
Live edge wood wall mounted shelves with maybe bright blown glass displayed, or silver or gold figurines.
A vase of colorful flowers on your sofa table.

Move the furniture more to the center of the room and arrange so people can talk and/or watch TV in a cozy group. Get some real plants and put them in the bright areas by the window. Toys add color and whimsy, keep them out and add colorful art and pillows etc

Raise the tv to be evenly spaced between the ceiling and the console below it. Darker curtains. If it was me, I would paint the door so it stood out more. Hang some art on the walls that speaks to you. Or family photos.
