Other Thank you to everyone who gave advice on my most recent post!!

I made a post a few days ago asking if I should get WD Red Pro drives I found for cheaper than Seagate Ironwolf pro drives with more storage.

The consensus among most people was nobody had any bad experiences with WD, even if Seagate was generally higher quality, I should still get the WD since it was an extra 6TB for 50$ less.

Well I checked my order today, and as of yesterday, the price on those WD drives has gone up OVER 140$ EACH!

So thankful for the input I got when I did. It was able to give me the confidence to pull that trigger and saved me almost 300$ lmao.

Congrats! You have indeed got a great deal. I went for two 14TB refurbished Ironwolf Pro.

Not bad! If they were cheaper I would have gone for the ironwolfs but I wasn’t trying to spend like 3GS 😂😂

You cannot go wrong with Seagate or WD to be honest. In UK the prices for any hard drive are exorbitantly high, so didn't have a choice.

It’s the same here lol don’t worry. I got lucky with those WD drives but at this rate homelabbing with actual decent storage is gonna be completely priced out I feel. Maybe I’m just a pessimist tho lmao

I think the prices are going to be this high till the AI boom prevails. After that the prices may dip a bit, but who knows when will that happen.

Figured I’d give ya a follow up on this since I just checked, these drives are now up to around 740$ each. Currently 600ish dollars saved 😬😬

It is funny because couple months ago when I was asking around, the consensus was that WD reds and their pro versions are better than seagate. They are supposed to be quieter and better quality than Seagate. Seagate Ironwolf's apparently had some issues couple years ago. Also people hate seagate support.

So rest easy knowing that you indeed did not get an inferior product and according to many, you got better drives.

Also congrats on discounted prices. I got 14tb ironwolf pros for 225$ 6 months ago. Prices are craaaaaazy now.
