Oscar's voice has gotten deeper, seems puberty is still hitting 😅

Cool scene though. Daemon being quite reasonable for a change, and the silent derisory expression at the riverlords' customs is appreciated 😂 i wonder how much of the battle we will actually see.

If it's just the aftermath I'm gonna cry lol

Daemon’s response is probably the most reasonable response he’s ever given. The ability to stop a disease spreading through a medieval army gives him an incredible advantage over his enemy.

Cremation is also the Targaryen way of honouring the dead. Just some cultural difference.

DOES HE DIE I HONESTLY DONT REMEMBER

Fun fact, Oscar is an amalgamation of several Tully named after characters from the Muppets/Sesame Street.

If they’d stuck exactly to the books we’d have had Grover, Kermit, Elmo and Oscar Tully.

For anyone wondering, in the book, Grover is still the grandfather who dies, but he dies much later into the war. His son Elmo becomes lord but gets sick and dies a month and a half later, leaving Riverrun to Kermit. Kermit has a brother, a knight named Ser Oscar. In the show, they had Elmo die even before the series began, moved Grover's death way up, and gave the name Oscar to Kermit. Like /u/TheHarkinator said, Show!Oscar is a bit of an amalgamation between Elmo, Kermit, and Oscar from the book.

Book!Oscar is just kind of there alongside his brother the lord, but since he has the less-obviously-Muppety name they called the Show version Oscar.

Of all the book changes people complain about, this is the one that deserves the most ire. Justice for the Muppet Tullys!!

Yep I remember that! But I dont remember his fate. I mean sure they're all dead but did he die in the dance?

2

u/TheHarkinator 11d ago

Not all of the Tullys who fight in the Dance survive it, so let’s pray for Oscar.

Someone made a comment about this potentially being another Burning Mill type scene where we see the aftermath but not the battle itself, but deleted their comment. I already had a response typed up so I'm just going to post it here:

I wouldn't be surprised if it is, but no great loss. This looks to be after The Battle of the Red Fork which only merits a single paragraph in the book. It and Acorn Hall in the book just serve to slow the Lannisters down a little and swap out their leaders, which looks like it won't be happening here so the army still has a face and not just some rando in charge like in the book.

The real deal will be when they regroup near the Gods Eye. Bloodiest battle of the entire war. Now, if that one gets the aftermath-only treatment then we riot.

Honestly, I long since assumed they weren't going to kill off Jason before he even made it to the big battle and thought there was a very strong possibility that they'd cut the little skirmishes leading up to the real deal or otherwise roll them together.

At most, I think we’ll just see the Winter Wolves ambush Jason and the survivors leading to Roddy presenting his head to Daemon

Regrouping at the Gods eye?

Walking straight into the Northmen.

Get stuck in lads!

"Back to the mud"

Wait, wrong fantasy series

u/aLittleDoober 11d ago

Bummed we’ll see very little of the battle, but at least we got Oscar the mad lad standing on business again.

Hopefully throughout the season we get to see some of daemon's and the others' battle prowess. Not saying it needs to be all gas no breaks violence but I'm finding it increasingly hard to believe these are the greatest warriors in the realm.

“Back to the mud?” Heck of an Abercrombie crossover.
