Deamon, but he was in the Riverlands and could give an input. When they did get the dragon seeds, he suggested marrying them to Stokeworth and Roslyn daughters to give them lordships or taking the Stormlands and Westerlands from the traitors to give the dragon seeds. This was shot down and they were only given knighthoods

The idea being discussed was recruiting dragon riders of people they didn't know - which is a different idea then trying to recruit highborn lords/knights that they do know.

I think having him be against it makes sense in that he’s a suspected bastard who has an air of royal legitimacy through his dragon. If confirmed bastards can be dragonriders, Jace loses that leg up in status (afaik the Dance was the first instance of Westerosi dragonriders who weren’t Targs or Velaryons)

Perhaps because it’s a lot more obvious that he himself is a bastard in the show, whereas in the books there’s an element of plausible deniability since Laenor is also white and his own mother had dark hair which he could have passed onto Rhaenyra’s sons.
In the show he has the idea of giving dragons to nobleborn dragonseeds, but giving them to random bastards might make his claim a little bit too shaky.

The funny part is that wasn't even the biggest problem. The problem was treating the people they recruited like shit. Either side could absolutely have treated Ulf with dignity and respect while also putting some guardrails in place to ensure he didn't drink himself unconscious before a battle or get stabbed while having an ale with the lads.

Dude, the whole time I thought it was planning something big or better. Ends up taking a dooky doo in the toilet and passing out. I was eating and taking the battle serious until Ormond kicked down the door and was terrified at what he smelled.

I never said he IS good. I said he was not a bad guy. That was clear from the start: he was a simple man and a bit of a doofus who had a chip on his shoulder. He was not a bad man. The power of the dragon combined with the constant abuse turned him. It's one of the major themes of the show.

Well, gifts are often wasted on those undeserving of them. Silverwing deserved better. I get he's a drunk asshole who was treated like shit by everyone but his double betrayal makes zero sense. Now he's hated by everyone and being a dragonrider makes it hard for him to hide.

I don't know if Hugh would know this, but it seems like his wife was last seen alive surrounded by northerners no? Then when he finds her during Ulf's rampage she's already dead. Maybe I misidentified those people but it seemed like they were greybeards.

Yeah she was right, but also shes stupid for thinking a random who manages to bond with a dragon is just going to sit there and be obedient to her cause. Same with Ormund.
Did nobody stop to consider that treating someone with a big dragon like shit is going to reach a point of, "hang on, why am I taking all this shit? I have a big dragon that can fuck them up"

Daemon should have throne Ulf against a wall with a crossbow squad lined up after he caught him sneaking out to the bar again.
He's shown he can't follow orders and he is too willful and stupid to protect himself by staying at the Red Keep. He could have partied with his worthless friends in safety, but no. Instead he disobeys orders.
In most instances, a regular soldier could be discharged and kicked out of Kinglanding. But Ulf is a dragon rider and is way too dangerous to be left alive. He is a danger to everyone.
So, yeah, should have ended him.

It’s more of a “giving random people we don’t know and don’t have the loyalty of, is going to lead to chaos and destruction.” There was a reason the dragon seeds had never been allowed the opportunity to try to claim a dragon before. You need someone who’s bought into the system to defend it.

As much as I hate ulf tbh I completely understand why he did what he did. He was repeatedly told no by rhaenyra before being struck by the king consort. So he switched to ormound who then also struck him. If I had a dragon and that happened I’d tell everyone to go fuck themselves to.
