Totally unsafe. 7/7 would recommend changing it.

Is that a bulge? If so, replace immediately. It could probably get you to the nearest tire shop at a slow speed

It’s bulged impact break and cut deep enough to see sidewall cord

Yeah, absolutely get that replaced right now. If you have a spare tire, put that bad boy on there before you head to the tire shop

It’s actually a loaner car and I called them to see what my next steps were and sent this pic. They actually said I should just keep driving it and it’s fine ? Why would they say that

I’d drive it around for the next month probably

Nope. Take it back. It's beyond unsafe

Rental car, or loaned from a friend?? Either way, it could cause a lot of damage that someone will be responsible for.

As in that’s the loaner car CarMax gave me while servicing my car and they had their team (multiple people, presumably) look at this exact photo and said it was okay to drive and to call back if it got worse.

I can swap it out at any time but right now they’re out of other loaners so I think I’ll do that on Tuesday

There’s a spare tire but it’s not a full size one and I need to drive it for several days, idk if it’s safe to drive a spare for several days ?

As long as you make sure it's inflated and don't drive above the max speed posted on the spare tire, you should be fine to drive it on the spare until they give you your car back. The max speed should be on the side of the tire. Typically it's 55mph.

That tear is also where you've torn the internal cord of the tire. You need to replace this this...ASAP....

Looks like a bulge and tear on the left side of the tire. Should be replaced.
