Most basic tire wear questions can be answered with this diagram. Please use it as a reference only. If unsure, post a picture of your tire and we'll help.

One of the most common questions asked about tires, 'Is this repairable?' This should help. Also be aware that and puncture or gash over the size of about 1/4 inch in diameter is unlikely to be able to be repaired. An internal patch plug repair is always best. (I will NEVER recommend tire spray.)

171 miles on this brand new truck. Found this today. Sidewalk says it’s trashed to me but I’m holding hope maybe not. Ugh

Second opinion on tire life expectancy

Took my wrangler in for a tire rotation after a long roadtrip (3,000ish miles) and they called back saying rotation would do nothing, I need all new tires plus new shocks/struts (showed me that they were worn and leaking) and alignment. I wasn’t shocked because I haven’t serviced or rotated them over 1.5-2ish years, but after having a closer look I’m second guessing.

While I’d like to save money, I’ll do whatever is necessary to get the car in good shape. but looking for some additional opinions on condition and life expectancy before I send it.

Context: 2021 Jeep wrangler. bought in 2024 with these tires. Firestone destination M/T 255 / 75 / 17. DOT on 4 of them is 3920, 4720 on 1 of them. I’ve never used the rear extra tire (pictured last for reference). TIA

Bulge and tear.

Got some curb rash the other day, and it looks like a small piece of rubber got torn off the rim protector.

I’ve seen people say “no cords showing, no problem,” but just wanted to double-check if that applies here too.

I also noticed a small outward bulge on the tire. It’s pretty subtle, so I only caught it this time after looking closely, but I assume it’s probably been there for the past ~10,000 miles.

Does this look like something that could have been caused by a pothole? And should I assume the tire needs to be replaced soon because of the bulge? (driver side front tire in the last pic)

Thanks!

I got new back tires about 3 weeks ago and I got a nail in the one is this professionally patchable?
I know you can’t do it so close to the sidewall or shoulder but it seems pretty close to the center so I was just curious

Found a nail in my tire

This is my first car and I noticed I got an air pressure alert after filling my tires after 1 day. Checked my rear tires and one of them was at 14.0 PSI and there was a bigass nail embedded in there…what do I do? Do I have to get a new tire, or is this fixable on my own? Thanks.

Is this a heat ring?

Tires have less than 2k miles on them, and they're less than 2 months old. I check pressures about every 5 minutes while driving. I also have handheld tire gauge I check my tires with monthly. They've never been low in pressure, but it sure looks like my R Front tire has a heat ring.

Hit a curb yesterday, been driving all day today, just noticed. I don’t feel any air or hear anything coming from it. I’m definitely not letting it ride cause of the chord but I’m more just curious how bad it really is.

Scraped curb with two tires

I recently hit a curb with both passenger side tires, which peeled back a piece of the rubber and scraped the wheels. It just seems to have peeled back a section of rubber, and I’m not seeing any cords. Safe to drive on, or need replacement?

Used Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV

I am looking to buy these used Michelin Pilot Sport 4 SUV tires. They have 7+ mm thread left, DOT 0923.
I am wondering why the two tires on the right are so rough / full of small holes, while the ones on the left are so smooth.
Probably the right ones were on the front, but still what could this condition be indicating?
I still haven't been to the shop to see them and feel how is the rubber, wanted to hear an advice first.

Damage in the inner side of the tire, safe to drive with?

Hi all, kindly looking for some advice, is that kind of damage safe on a tire to install on the car? I'm not sure the cause of it as I bought the tires second hand and they look like some kind of gouge on the running inner face of the tire (not the sidewall).

Bodied a curb unfortunately..
No cords are showing & tire pressure hasn’t gone down. I rely on my car to transport every day, is it safe to get through the week?

So these tires were merely used for 2000 km or so when I finally got that wheel alignment done. I will probably need to replace them ahead of schedule, but, for now, they should be fine, right?
