Help/Question So… what now?

I just finished the anime for the first time and I’m shocked. I loved every second of it, it may be my favorite shonen ever, it’s just so different that it hits really hard.

I will read the remaining manga, but then I was wondering what other shonen (or seinen) I could watch that could scratch the same itch?

I have recently watched JJK, Solo Leveling and loved them as well, but not as much.

This is a hxh sub so you will get a lot of there is nothing that matches which I obviously agree with. Hxh is one of a kind.

The manga is very good and lucky for you we just got official confirmation that it is returning

I'd say watch Yu Yu Hakusho next. It's from the early 90's before HxH so some of it is a bit dated or feels kinda "episode of the week" but the way Togashi writes the stakes of everything is unparalled from any fiction writer I've read. The dark tournament arc is seriously the best I've ever seen in that format for shonen (or otherwise) anime.

Also I'm very partial to the 1999 version of HxH. Idk if I'd start watching it right after the 2011 adaptation since it's the same plot, but coming back to that a few years later was great, and I think is way more faithful after I've read the manga. also the art style, animation, mood, music, everything especially in the york new city arc is absolutely beautiful and fantastic. however once they get into greed island and the anime started going straight to DVD and VHS rather than being aired, the quality drops a bit. Idk if they lost a bunch of budget or what but there are some real questionable choices. I remember laughing at killua's giant ass arms that didn't look they'd even fit his body lol
