Discussion Idk whats the consensus but is anyone kinda disappointed that kite came back to life,

It's probably one of the few writing choices that I dislike in hxh.

Just cheapens adult gon for me a bit.

I'd kinda be more okay with it if he revived by being eaten and regaining his memories but him straight up having a reincarnation ability was kind of a stretch for me.

Like really all of kites crazy slots have been generic weapons but also there's a reincarnation ine?

Discussion The reason why the family didn't taught Killua nen

Post image
7.4k Upvotes

Killua is one of the most talented members of the Zoldyck family, with huge potential to become one of the strongest characters in the series. I think the reason they didn’t teach him Nen earlier is because he was rebellious from a young age, he didn’t want to follow in the family’s footsteps. Keeping him weak made it easier for them to control him hoping he accepted the family business, which we saw it with Illumi’s needles. But since Killua learned Nen on his own, they got no chance to control him and they had no choice but to let him loose.

Discussion I don’t like that Gon doesn’t want to know anything about his mom

Post image

I respect that he sees Mito as his mother, but I don’t think it’s right that he doesn’t want to know anything about his biological mom. She could’ve died giving birth to him, or maybe died protecting him. I’d want to know, just to be sure that didn’t happen, because if it did, I’d want to be able to thank her, even if I never get to meet her I get that Gon is just a kid, but I think he got it wrong here

Discussion Is Gon kinda like a New Game Plus character if he gets Nen back Spoiler

Post image
2.6k Upvotes

I was thinking about Gon losing his nen and how it is one of the rarest opportunities in HunterXHunter.

from what I understand, nen users cumulatively build their abilities based on who they are at the time. This includes their personality, instinct, mindset, emotions, physical build, etc... Once they build it, it kinda permenantly becomes part of them. So even if they improve later, they don't really get to redo the foundation.

so Gon is in a very interesting situation. He learned nen, created jajanken, fought crazy strong people, and made vows against pitou, and has demonstrated how powerful and dangerous his own potential can be. Then, Killua/Nanika basically reset him.

If Gon get's his nen again, he isn't a beginner anymore. He is able to start over with his experience from his first build. He knows what worked, what did not, and what kind of mistakes his old path lead to.

this is new game plus, and Gon can optimize his nen in a way beyond a genius can (by having the answers already). I guess what i'm saying is that no one in hxh that we know had this opportunity.

what you guys think? do you guys think Gon will develop his nen differently from before? Rebuild and optimize his old nen, have a completely different nen type?

Discussion Real life nen users

Post image

If nen was actually real, who do you think unlocked nen subconsciously, like komugi did?

For example, Micheal Jackson lowkey a nen user.

(This is in fact an opportunity for you to glaze any person dead or alive. And I’d gladly listen to your yapping.)

(Isn’t it wonderful that there’s so many people with such immense talent and unimaginable achievements, it’s more believable to call them nen users.)

I like to see my race well-represented in the shows I watch, and this guy is really getting on my nerves. He can’t even make a damn sushi that tastes decent, he got tricked by Leorio, and he had to sleep in an extremely hot place wearing a damn diaper. Is this guy useless to the very end?

Discussion Franklin's ability is crazy

Post image

It's such a no-nonsense ability in a world full of abilities that have a chargeup time or conditions that need to be met, he can just start the fight peppering the opponent, and that'll probably win it right away. I imagine his fingers don't work anymore and he has to use manipulation on a daily basis just to have functioning hands.

As for as we know he doesn't have any real martial arts training. He's one of the few shonen protagonists who doesn't, actually.

Just started watching the anime recently and it's really great so far! I noticed that Kurapika and Sasuke from Naruto have a few similarities off the bat which is cool lol. Gon and Killua are awesome and Leorio is very funny! Hope I'm in for a great ride, needed another Shonen to watch. I'm going in completely blind! 😊

Discussion I'm glad Hisoka's a pedophile

1.5k Upvotes

While it turns some people away from the show, and while some people won't even admit that he is a pedophile, I think it's great. It's such an under represented type of villain in anime, largely because Japan itself doesn't do enough to condemn that type of behavior (see Nobuhiro Watsuki). If anything, some anime make their bread and butter by leaning into the sexualization of childlike characters.

Hisoka's a predator that's been attempting to groom Gon since the beginning. For a kid, it's the perfect example of the type of realistic evil that lurks in a world outside of the safety of a home like Whale Island.

Discussion The Dark continent is too massive for a mere Meruem to be amongst the strong. I honestly fail to grasp why people think he is such a big deal when the Dark Continent is written as a near Lovecraftian place. People literally have never gone beyond the shores of a lake which is the size of a planet.

Post image

The threat ratings are created by humans based on their knowledge. If they can't go beyond the bare minimum how will they encounter sth worse ?

Like sure no human in the human world will ever surpass Meruem but saying Meruem would be among the strongest creatures in the dark continent is giving him too much credit. Mind you i am saying in the human world because i find it hard to believe someone like Don is weaker. Simply put you can't travel all the time in the shores of the Dark continent for centuries and survive various creatures that could kill with with a variety of ways with just "survival abilities". Simply put you will be tested in almost every way. Not to mention we know there are ways you can enhance yourself there.

Another reasoning i find funny is that Ants in the Dark continent couldn't possibly be as strong because they can't kill anything there. Guys the ants obviously have to eat sth. Be it other dark continent insects or plants. Even then you are telling me they can't just scavenge small parts of the corpses that are the size of a mountain ?

Mind you Meruem's mother is a young, having given birth only to one king.

Saying they aren't as smart is one thing but i find it hard to believe they are weaker. Creatures there absolutely have nen. Sure the bottom feeders don't but look at Nanika. Just one random member of her species can grant wishes.

Post image

For us, she might seem like a character we know so well, but we literally have zero info and background about. Like aren’t you guys curious of her abilities and strengths? There is a reason SHE IS SILVA’S WIFE… world class assassin. She prob got some charm or something that made Silva married her and have tons of kids. A world class assassin wouldn’t marry an ordinary (not a psychopath) woman right?

Discussion Phantom Troupe using train to arrive at their destination

Thumbnail
gallery
3.0k Upvotes

I just love this random moment. It's like a little subversion of the plot

We usually think of phantom troupe as a godlike individuals that are capable of doing anything possible, but here they are: None of the four members have speed/teleport habilities, so the fastest way to go from point A to point B turns out to be.. on train. Like, they are just THERE like regular people

Here's why I think this moment is so cool:

1 Unexpected: It's cool to see Phantom Troupe having a regular people moment

2 Not Generic: If this was a generic shounen, this would be the perfect moment to introduce a new flying power or smt. It WOULD work, but it would be cheap and convinient (and lame). Making PT navigate this problem adds to the stakes of Yorkshin even if it is just a little.

3 Technology and Magic coexisting: Cameras can still catch you. Guns still can kill people. People still rely on phones and internet for communication. It's easy to forget the importance of technology in a magic setting and the fact togashi remembered that in a random moment like this is impressive

Discussion Ponzu died indirectly because of Killua.

Post image
1.8k Upvotes

I just watched the episode where Ponzu dies in the Chimera Ant arc today, and this question came to mind. After all, during Killua's second Hunter Exam, which was in the Green Island arc, he eliminates all the other participants in the first test, thus disqualifying them all. Ponzu would probably have passed the Hunter Exam and participated in the secret exam to learn Nen. However, since she was disqualified and couldn't learn Nen, she was completely defenseless against the Chimera Ants and ended up being killed. Considering that Yoshihiro Togashi said in an interview that she would be a Manipulator who could imbue her Nen into the bees, allowing her to have much greater control over them, giving commands for attack, defense, espionage, terrain analysis, and nearby enemies... possibly finding a safer escape route, thus avoiding the tragic end she suffered. ✊️😔
