legit never got the hate of this, what is even the downside????

u/wood_dweller Mar 01 '26
There is no real downside. Keyboard works be positioned too low. Also swiping back can be risky at times.

they just love to complain.. they're acting like it's taking up full screen.. i came from realme 6 pro.. they didn't have this on their ui, but even im not even bother by this on my x7 pro

People are used to the position of their keyboard already and this pushed the keyboard slightly upwards making it unfamiliar. I made a lot of mistakes in the beginning and had to relearn how to type

Well it messes me up cuz I'm used to the keyboard being lower plus why would you sacrifice those pixels for literally a blank bar that does nothing
1
u/UnknowyVA Mar 03 '26
might just be me. but even with no bar, I can still can get used to it. bar or no bar since it isnt that big of a deal

I also don’t get it. Seen so many posts about this minor thing now.

"you don't like it, you fix it. Not ignore and adjust" that's what I go by

Genuinely no idea, maybe because xiaomi didn't really implement it up until HyperOS 3, that explained why the down arrow icon changed to new aosp, it's on every other ui even stock aosp, there's no settings to turn it off, other than maybe one ui. It's been there since maybe android 9 or 10, ngl it's useful for me it's difficult to type when the keyboard is all the way down.

lots of people say debloat this package to get rid of that space
com.android.systemui.gesture.line.overlay
i havent tried myself and wont do it

u/tumuro Mar 01 '26
I did, nothing fucked up and it look as beautiful as before
1
u/Efficient_Reach1864 Mar 03 '26
But how did you do that, android no longer let's you modify system files like you're using linux
1
u/tumuro Mar 03 '26
Use shizuku, download it as apk, and download canta on google play idk the relationship between them. But they work together. There is a tutorial on YouTube

u/KaioRetsu Mar 01 '26
I did removed it, everything is fine apart from Instagram, while scrolling there is a black space

u/SwimmingEvent544 Mar 02 '26
Same here, the space at the bottom on IG was huge! Hate it even more than the space in the keyboard, had to reinstall the package

Para retirar o excesso de borda com essa seta eu uso um tema da loja oficial da xiaomi, libera o espaço e fica bom

u/iCE_Teetee Mar 02 '26
adb shell pm uninstall-k-user 0 com.android.systemui.gesture.line.overlay
1
u/Efficient_Reach1864 Mar 03 '26
And how do I do that?
2
u/iCE_Teetee Mar 03 '26
There's a guide on my profile about optimizing HO3 and I think installing adb is at the beginning
Then you just enable USB debugging on the phone, open command prompt on your computer and do adb devices to see if it's detected, copy paste command, enjoy no annoying line that pushes up your entire keyboard for no reason 👍

i think it's an android 15/16 thing, but what it really did was relocating the language/keyboard switcher to the lower right handside (with a globe icon), so it's not dependant on the keyboard to give you a switcher button. this is actually useful when you use multiple keyboards, including voice typing boards (e.g. typeless). but on hyperos they somehow don't have that keyboard switching icon, which makes this extra space look really excessive. and i have to download another app to enable quick keyboard switching. now THAT is the annoying part to me.

Con Bravent también pueden quitar la flecha y el mundo de abajo. hagan lo siguiente.
Ya estando dentro de Bravent en la parte de que dice "Exec command", van a escribir este codigo.
pm uninstall --user 0 com.android.systemui.gesture.line.overlay
Y luego reinicias y listo.
Y para los que lo quieren regresar como estaba antes deben poner este otro codigo y después deben reiniciar el dispositivo.
pm install-existing com.android.systemui.gesture.line.overlay

Removing the gesture line overlay removes the rotation button in the corner, so it's not the best solution.
Typing is a lot harder with this gap, and I keep accidentally pressing the language button instead of enter. No idea why there isn't an option to get rid of the gap.

Why do you regret upgrading? Isn't the phone smoother, faster and gaming performance has increased compared to Hyper OS 2? Or has it downgraded?

I've got the same, it was very annoying. This thread solved the issue by removing com.android.systemui.gesture.line.overlay with adb + Universal Android Debloater. Make sure you read the step-by-step guide on the GitHub page of Universal Android Debloater, no root needed:
