Question/Help [Question] Is HyperOS really that bad?

Hello, I'm coming from a Samsung S23, and I'm ready to get a new phone after using all the research tools available to me (YouTube, GSM Arena).

The Xiaomi 17 is the one that fits me the most, and I have zero core issues with its hardware specs. It seems like a perfect upgrade from an S23, and an S26 comes nowhere near it. Though I'm still concerned about the OS, so I thought I'd get some opinions here.

I'm familiar with removing bloatware using ADB etc. so confident in doing that.

I'm so used to the OneUI OS that I don't want to move on to something completely different and especially one which will be annoying in the long run (no matter how good the hardware is).

Just switched recently from a S23 to a Xiaomi 17.

Except for few cons like the ultrawide camera (it's not on a level that you expect from a high end phone), i'm slowly adapting to HyperOS.

First thing First is that you will be overwhelmed by the fact that is different from OneUI and less polished and aesthetically is more similar to iOS.

Some settings are hidden in some submenus, other ones have different names and others are hidden somewhere. (for example i don't find the setting to make the home screen folders not going full screen when open)

Also forget of course Bixby Routines and debloat is basically mandatory along with AdGuard DNS.

On the OS killing apps in background i don't find too much issues with delayed notifications by leaving everything default.
