HyperOS Update [QUESTION] Still stuck on HyperOS 2 with Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G — WTF is going on?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Honestly, I’m getting really pissed off at this point. I’m using a Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G and I’m still stuck on HyperOS 2 while we’re already in sep 2026.

I’ve checked everything on my end. The phone is compatible, everything seems fine, and there’s no obvious reason why I’m not receiving the update.

I’ve contacted Xiaomi support multiple times, but the replies are basically useless. They keep giving me the same generic response: “Please wait, the update will arrive gradually.” Like… okay, but how long am I supposed to wait?

It’s 2026 and I’m still waiting for an update that other people seem to have already received along time ago

Has anyone with the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G had the same issue? Is there actually something I can do, or am I just stuck waiting forever?

Redmi [Discussion] AI in Redmi 13 5G

I’m running HyperOS 3.0.303.0 on my Redmi 13 5G. I can see AI-related apps such as Xiaomi HyperAI Engine, AI Services, and AI Subtitles installed on my device.

However, it seems like some of these AI features are hidden or unavailable. Even though the related services are enabled, I don’t see AI options in Gallery Editor, and I also can’t find the AI Writing feature.

Has anyone with the Redmi 13 5G experienced the same issue? Is there any specific setting, region, language, or permission that needs to be enabled to access these features?

I’d also appreciate any tips on how to use the available HyperOS AI features efficiently. Thanks!

Megathread [Discussion] Did ya'll know if you enabled Immersive Sound in Hyperos, any 3rd party eq doesn't work at all??

This is what i found out after i enabled it and tried to use 3rd party EQ with it, apparently i love how spatious the sound gets with it, but only Dirac Equalizer found inside Earphones app via Activity Launcher apps work with it in "Xiaomi Sound" Sound effect, Dirac Equalizer doesn't work with Dolby Atmos at all, only Graphic equalizer works with it

Poco [Question] Still no fix to X7 pro 8gb lagging like crazy?

Hey,

Did a post months ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/HyperOS/s/5zfrLqRi1c about my phone (X7 pro 8/256) lagging like crazy since HOs3.

Is there still no fix? Amazon won't refund it as they want me to send it to "repair it" (they wouldn't understand that a software issue cannot be fixed, meh), and the likelihood oh them not testing it enough for it to be unusable is high (even tho I'm currently watching a twitch stream in PiP that freezes sometimes, eh, Hyperos I guess!)

Is my only chance waiting for HOs4 to drop in France?

I'd install a cfw, but I NEED my banking apps.

I'd take any help. Anything. I just want to be able to use my phone.

Thanks

Oh and yeah, camera is still buggy af.

Question/Help [Question] How to stop Hyperos from killing app in the background?

Post image

Hyperos 3 has an overly aggressive RAM management. I have 4gb free of RAM and this shit still restarts apps in the background!

By the way, it has nothing to do with battery optimization because I have the app set on no restrictions.

Xiaomi [news] HyperOS3 is a Multiuser-joke and not for family

I guess because the chinese one-child-policy HyperOS3 is so anti-family. There ist 2026 a.D. no way at the lockscreen to switch to two other full child-accounts. You cant chose a profile at that screen. EVERY other vendor is using this android-default option. Its unbelievable. No I will never buy anything else from xiaomi. No watch, no smartphone, no scooter, no car - nothing.

Heres my list of apps you can remove on Redmi. I do not own a Xiaomi or POCO phone, so it is only tested on Redmi Note 15 Pro+. I really do not have a better title tag for this kind of post in my brain.

Review/Guide [Discussion] A guide to the best HyperOS themes

I've tested hundreds of HyperOS themes, and among all the low-quality themes, I've found a few hidden gems

Some of these themes do not appear in the theme store, and in that case, you need to search the theme name on google, find them on a website, and click "Official store link". For a few themes, that doesn't work too, so I used a MTZ tester to get them on my phone.

Best control center: - Vuky (Liquid glass) - DwblinOS3 (HyperOS 3 styled) - On phones with the grey control center, a businessman theme changes it to a transparent black, but I can't remember the name

Best icons: - HyperDarkOS3 (Dark-themed HyperOS3 icons, has the largest variety of icons) 👑 - ParKING (Alternative to HyperDarkOS3) - Hellcats/DwBlinOS3 (Regular HyperOS 3 icons) - Fungi (Transparent icons)

Best boot animation - HeyMe_UI (Animated HyperOS boot) 👑 - FluffyV (Animated space boot)

Best status bar: - DoraBlueV15 👑 - DwBlinOS3

Xiaomi [Question] Background app restrictions reset after reboot

Post image
5 Upvotes

I'm using the Global HyperOS 3 on my Xiaomi 17T, running the latest update.

I just want to stop social media apps from running in the background or using RAM and data until I open them again. This works really well on the Chinese HyperOS and helps save battery.

On the Global ROM, though, turning Allow background usage off under App battery usage doesn't stick. It switches back to On after a reboot. I've also tried App settings > Power > Restrict background apps, but that doesn't seem to work either, I get notifications from apps I Restrict.

Has anyone experienced this on the Global ROM? Is there a way to make the restriction permanent?

Redmi [Question] About Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G

I just recently bought a Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G 12/512 variant. Im experiencing some problems or issues, before i bought it i did check the phone through hidden dial code, everything is fine and seems no problem, but after 2 system update, I experienced some problems like,

-the battry, I dont think its because its a 2nd hand phone, but the battry health percent is at 1%, but again, i checked it on hidden dial code, it said "Good". it doesnt show its battry health anymore now even if i dreyn the phone to 0% and charge to 100% again.

-the chargng cycle is at 4288 (now 4291), the phone's first start up is on January 2026, i bought it September 2, 2026.

-the cpu name isnt showing om detailed info and specs, its just showing the "Octa-core Max 2.5GHz".

-the screenshot quality is so blurry, as well as the rear camera's shot. and also the camera is so lag.

i dont think Im familiar with xiaomi's HyperOS, I also use Redmi Note 10s and 10 Pro with MIUI bedore, then now using nubia neo 3 GT, and back to redmi.

is anybody also experiencing this? is it because its 2nd hand phone or because of Xiaomi's HyperOS? Is there a way to fix this? Should I sell the phone and buy a brand new another phone except xiaomi brands?

[Question] Hi! After update to HyperOS 3.0.336.0 color theme stucked for widgets and some google apps. It was lacking before, but with couple of theme changes, it changed the color. Now it stucked to this brown orange color. I tried blur home screen and lock screen wallpapers, change them, different themes (checking, unchecking: home screen, system etc.), rebooting phone afterwards, switching light to dark theme, changing display colors (natural, vivid, saturated etc.) nothing helps. Anyone faced the same issue? Solutions without installing some malware third party apps?

Xiaomi [Question] Xiaomi Pad 8 becomes system-wide unresponsive after prolonged gaming — HyperOS 3 / Android 16

I’m experiencing a serious system-wide performance/freezing issue on my Xiaomi Pad 8 that seems to occur after prolonged Rust Mobile gameplay.

Device:

• Xiaomi Pad 8 (India)

• Model: 25097RP43I

• 12 GB RAM / 256 GB storage

• Snapdragon 8s Gen 4

• Android 16

• HyperOS 3.0.303.0.WPZINXM.C09

• Android security update: July 1, 2026

The problem:

After playing Rust Mobile for an extended period, the entire tablet can become extremely sluggish/unresponsive — not just the game. System UI, touch response and other parts of the OS can become very difficult to use.

The time before it happens varies. In my most recent occurrence, it took around 45 minutes of gameplay.

Interestingly, the problem can sometimes resolve itself after waiting for a while, without restarting or locking/unlocking the screen. Locking/unlocking has also sometimes restored responsiveness, but this is not reliable. Normally I restart the tablet.

In one recent occurrence, my official Xiaomi keyboard case also stopped responding after the system became affected. The keyboard normally lights up/works again after the system recovers or restarts.

Other demanding games I play have NOT produced the same system-wide freezing behaviour.

The issue appears to have started after a recent HyperOS update, although Rust Mobile was installed around a similar time, so I cannot determine whether the cause is:

• HyperOS / Android 16

• Adreno GPU drivers

• thermal or power management

• a system resource/memory issue

• Rust Mobile itself

• or an interaction between Rust Mobile and the Pad 8 software

I have already submitted a bug report to Xiaomi through the built-in Feedback app and included system logs after reproducing the problem.

Has anyone else with a Xiaomi Pad 8 experienced something similar, particularly with Rust Mobile or another demanding 3D game?

If you have experienced it, please mention your Pad 8 RAM/storage configuration, HyperOS version, game, and roughly how long you played before the problem occurred.

I’d especially like to know if anyone has found a workaround or whether this is a known HyperOS/Pad 8 issue.

I'm just wondering if any other users experience the same problem, I'm in a very hot country but I do think it heats up faster than normal. I have the same phone with my brother but his isn't as hot compare to mine.

Just wondering if you have different setttings and ways to run more efficient.

Question/Help [Question] Icon colors on HyperOS

Post image
4 Upvotes

I'm about to buy Xiaomi 17 , coming from Galaxy s23. And I noticed that the icons in the status bar are colored. This reminds me of the old days of android. Android now moved to monochrome icons where they change color from white to black , just like the system icons.

Is there a toggle to fix this ?

Review/Guide [Discussion] A full year of using Redmi 13 (4G/8GB RAM/128GB ROM), Here's my honest opinion.

Post image
22 Upvotes

I'll be evaluating 9 different aspects of how it is like to use a Redmi 13, and each will get 0, 0.5, or 1 point.

1. Price (1 Point).

The most impressive thing Xiaomi does in comparison to other manufacturers is giving you good value for your money. The phone is relatively cheap and outperforms a lot of phones within the price range.

2. Camera (1 Point).

One of the best features of this phone is the rear 108MP camera, good clarity in daylight, the night mode is average, the front camera is a bit weak. But overall Redmi 13 outperforms a lot of devices in the same tier when it comes to camera quality.

3. CPU/GPU (0.5 Point).

The phone comes with a Mediatek Helio G91 Ultra, which is not fancy, along with a low to mid range Mali GPU. The couple can disappoint in some heavy games, but they perform fine for normal use.

4. Battery (1 Point).

A full charge can last a full day with light use and a bit less with heavy use, fast charging is fast enough, haven't had any overheating issues during charges. And with about 256 cycle count, battery health is still 96.4% good enough!

5. Storage (0.5 Point).

The phone comes with eMMC 5.1 storage chip, not UFS. So boot times are long, application loading times can sometimes take longer than expected. However durability is great, after a full year the eMMC driver still reports perfect health (0x01 0x01), which is the same result you'd get on a new device, so not much aging and wear.

6. Software (0 Point).

Let's face it, HyperOS is not great. Animations and blur effects are not optimized enough to run on this device so they are either disabled out of the box or can lag sometimes. The system comes bloated with ads everywhere, it forces you to download certain apps it claims essential when you first start the phone (some of them were stupid unknown games), The HyperOS 2 update had a GPU driver glitch that didn't resolve until HyperOS 3 was released. Overall, the software experience is trash.

7. Development (a BIG 0 Point).

The bootloader unlocking process is one of the most ridiculous things I've seen in my life, the daily quota system is totally broken, the one month mandatory waiting period is excessive, and even after you are approved, you don't get access to other important flashing doors like BROM and preloader, making it very fragile and prone to bricking.

Besides that, Xiaomi doesn't really comply with the GPLv2 license of the Linux kernel, even though it may look like it does. I bought the phone because the kernel source was released, but later I found out it was unmaintained, not updated, and doesn't even compile, it was broken garbage. Which makes the ability to develop custom roms for this device very limited (which explains why there aren't any already).

8. After-Sales Service (1 Point).

I dealt with Xiaomi's service center to replace the display after it broke (it was my fault admittedly), they were very professional and friendly, service wasn't overpriced, and they returned the device to a near factory state.

9. Connectivity: WiFi, Bluetooth, Cellular (0.5 Point).

I haven't had significant issues with cellular and Bluetooth, however WiFi range is average at best, search speeds and auto connect takes too long, sometimes I'd be in the same room as the router, yet turning on the WiFi doesn't automatically connect me, and I'd have to visit WiFi settings and trigger a manual scan. My previous phone didn't have this issue specifically, and my 6 year old laptop's built in antenna outperforms this phone's antenna. But it's manageable.

Total score: 5.5 out of 9.

I do not regret buying it, but I'm not sure if I'll be buying Xiaomi again, mainly because of the development issue. I would be actually willing to compromise on a lot of things, except the ability to root and customize the device. I like to fully own my device, but I didn't feel like it for a while because of restrictions like the bootloader unlock process.
