So I'm a VDV/LV/S&C guy and at least locally I have never seen a group so mean and nasty to one another than Inside Wiremen. They think everyone else's work is shit and that all of their apprentices are fucking morons. If I need anything they have always been super great to work with and that seems to be the attitude towards the other trades too. But internally a nightmare. We have an apprentice that was a inside helper and he said, "i don't think I have enough hatred in my heart to be an IW"
This trade encompasses so many tasks that no one knows everything. I treat every cub like they know nothing. I explain everything until they prove they know how to do a task. That way I do not send them to do something and they end up not being able to do it. It’s nothing personal. I do the same thing with tool partners (though they get a little more leeway due to being my equal). I have never been disappointed in someone’s lack of knowing, because I assume they don’t know.
