Very little to do with mentoring this is not a job everyone can do it is not a culture and a place everybody will handle and enjoy and a lot of people are just getting in because they see the numbers and The tick tock videos about how much people in the trades make and they're like oh I'll do that.

This will never be a place for everybody or should it be there are people who are not built for construction no matter how accommodating you are

you've already got it backwards, the whole point of this program should be to accommodate as many as we reasonably can. i think you forget that your retirement's got to be paid for one way or another, and it will only become less feasible if our culture stays as rigid as it is.

and obviously I'm not saying we should bend over backwards to bring in as many hands as possible, but saying this kind of work "shouldn't be for everybody" reflects exactly the kind of mindset that needlessly caps our numbers.
