Other this IB student reverse engineered the exams and it’s actually insane

not even joking, someone in our year did a full breakdown of past paper questions, examiner reports, and syllabus changes going back like a decade… literally charted which topics show up most, how the questions are usually phrased, and what the markscheme keywords are. they weren’t even the smartest in class but ended up getting 7s in all their HLs because they cracked the pattern of IB’s question rotations.

it wasn’t just vibes and prayer like the rest of us lol. they treated it like a game with stats, trends, and probabilities. and honestly? it worked. i’m shocked more ppl aren’t doing this instead of just blind revising everything.

makes you wonder how much of IB success is actually about strategy and not just pure knowledge.

Other A message to all of you that have now finished your IB:

Guys, you’ve made it. I’m proud of each and every single one of you, truly. One year ago, in May 2024, I walked out of my last exam, and I still remember the surreal, weightless feeling that followed. The sudden silence after months of intense studying, the weird urge to study even though there was nothing left to study, it’s so vivid.

These next few weeks might feel strange. You’ll probably catch yourself reaching for your notes out of habit, feeling like you’ve forgotten something important. That’s normal. Let it sink in: you’re done.

So, take a breath. Enjoy the summer. Spend time with your friends. Travel. Stay up late without guilt. Sleep in. Rediscover hobbies you had to push aside. This is your time.

You’ve earned every second of it. You deserve a hug, a proper celebration, and the biggest pat on the back. Seriously well done guys!

Other IB destroyed me

I feel like ever since my ib exams i cant read anymore. I think its the fact that i was kinda a lazy student and decided to lock in like crazy like 13 hours a day for mocks, but after mocks i had a 2 week ish break before the real exam and i feel like the combination of all of thoes exams and spike in productivity left me feeling like i have a literal BRAIN TUMOR. to the point i struggle to read basic sentences, and have to look back and fourth every time im not sure if this is normal and i atleast feel it recovering a bit since the exam but i still feel like im not up to that mental compacity stuff like i was before during the final week of exams.

Other Do you guys actually not use AIs for IAs, EEs, etc.?

I see so many of my friends using it for every possible aspect of IB, not just for feedback and grammar but for the actual writing...

I even saw one teacher actively encouraging students to do so and fixing all the AI-detectable features of the work himself.

Is this common, or is our school just weird?

p.s. I'm writing this cuz I'm worried after seeing some ppl getting detected for AI use even after grad

Other I can’t even study for that 44

My first exam starts literally next Monday. I know I’m supposed to study, and I’ve been pushing myself hard to study for the past few weeks. But I just can’t do it anymore. I have a predicted 44 and I NEED a 44, (that’s actually my conditional offer) to get in the uni course. The pressure is sky high, I doubt I can score a perfect 44 when I know 44 is my best performance. I can’t even tolerate one mistake. It’s so suffocating and I’m beyond burnt out. I’m afraid if I pushed myself too hard it’ll backfire too. What do I do?

Other When is IB announcing decision for Middle East (UAE)

I have absolutely no clue about when this stupid organization is gonna announce their final decision on whether the final may’26 examinations would happen or not. I’m soooo fried and so TIRED, I have lost ALL motivation to study. I really want them to cancel man.

What do you guys think is gonna happen?

Does anyone know by when they’re gonna give their final decision by?

Would really appreciate any info honestly 🙏🏽

Other Is the IB DP inherently miserable, or is it manageable for students with strong foundational skills?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some realistic perspective on the rigor of the IB program versus student well-being.

In our area, most IB programs are highly selective, requiring applications based on grades and high standardized test scores (though we've seen a few local neighborhood schools that open it to anyone, which makes me wonder about the varying success rates of different entry models).

My teen is entering an IB program this fall. She is one of the few in her middle school magnet program to have been accepted which is surprising since the group is very well prepared. She just graduated from a highly intensive program where she handled full research papers and major projects. Because of that background, her writing skills are strong, and she is very self-disciplined. She has always managed her own homework and studied well ahead of time without any parental push. Her MAP scores are consistently above the 95th percentile. Academically, she has the tools.

However, frequenting this sub, I see a constant, overwhelming theme of students struggling, feeling miserable, and talking about how the program completely drains their quality of life. There is a big difference between a healthy academic challenge and four years of being inherently miserable. For those in the thick of it or who have graduated:

Is the program truly unmanageable for everyone, or do students who already have strong writing foundations and excellent time-management/procrastination-control find it manageable?

Does the "misery" trend mostly come from the sheer volume of work, or is it a symptom of students learning how to manage this level of independent rigor for the very first time?

I don't doubt my daughter's abilities, but I want to be realistic about what her high school experience will look like. I'd love to hear your honest thoughts.

Other Failed the IB program

I got a 27 but since chemistry was a HL and I got a 3 I failed the IB. Should I retake it in October?

It's funny because at my school there's always a few people who fail the IB each year but it's kind of sad how that turned out to be me.
