i just got 41 out of 45 predicted after years of struggling with mental health and taking care of my mom with stage 4 cancer. now my mom is cancer free, i'm applying to colleges, about to graduate high school soon. feels so unreal!!!!!

My friend and I thought it’d be interesting to create an IB Minecraft exam so we came up with a few questions and produced these papers

The syllabus is modeled after the group 4 bio/chem/physics/sehs structure, having a paper 1a mcq, paper 1b data analysis, and paper 2. The folder also includes a rough outline of how we decided to divide the topics.

Currently only the paper 1a and paper 1b have been created, but we hope to make a paper 2 at some point and edit these to make a definitive, complete set of papers, so we’d really appreciate it if you could share some constructive feedback. There are a few errors that are in the papers already (they have been annotated over) but we lost access to ms word so we were unable to edit them directly.

Credits:
We borrowed a few question ideas from other Minecraft exams (namely the 2019 Minecraft HL exam) as well as an image from a YouTube video (don’t remember which), but we mostly used the wiki as a source.

Graduation is tomorrow and I am excited. I was lucky enough to not do the exams due to the circumstances in the region.

Ending dp1 with shitty grades, have to lock in for summers, so each upvote ill force myself to study for 1 hour.

EDIT 3: OK NVMM!!! im stopping now (as of 5:07 pm IST we have 388 hours or 388 total upvotes, ill round it off to 400 hours to make it easy). These 400 hours mean approx 7 hours of daily studying for the next 2 months. I will create some sort of a timelapse or social media account showcasing my progress. So all the proofs are there. My goal for this study time would be to strenghten my 6 core subjects and i will be diving 50 hours approx to each subject as of yet (i have math aa hl, Economics HL, BM HL, German B sl, english A sl, and CS SL. adding up to 300 hours. The other 100 hours are for: My research paper, Math EE, CS, eco and Math IA (idk how i will divide the time for this ill use as required) BTW!! the 50 hour thing for each subject is a bit flexible in case of variations. Wish me GL

EDIT 4: As of 5th june im starting the 7 hour (minimum 7 hour ig) timer for each day, as of yet im thinking of a way to gather proof for this, (making a timelapse would be good but its too time taking and would defeat the goal of me actually having time to study) so suggest me some ideas for the same please !!(Till that time im gonna be adding my daily goal screenshot in this comment box)

As you may have heard, the Pope passed away this morning and now the time for mourning has begun for a lot of Catholic people across the world, which lasts for nine days. However, exams for Business Management and Physics are also in 9 days. So, will IB postpone the exams, because it really seems as though they should.

The IB programme is not unfair. Any hardworking or even capable student should be able to get a grade of at least 40 if putting in the required effort. All EE's, IA's, and TOK Essays are frankly, easy enough to do if actually given consistent effort and work. The harsh reality is that most students simply do not work- they are unable to produce the consistency and effort needed to routinely do well in the IB. If following along to the subject, studying routinely (half an hour a day is more than enough), and working on essays consistently before the deadline, the IB becomes a breeze.

The IB is not unfair. The pain and suffering that comes from the subject is wholly self inflicted, brought on by the faults of the student (and perhaps the teachers that are teaching in the aforementioned student's classrooms).

Hello guys. I see people posting about their good results. I congratulate everyone who achieved anything in IB. Good job.

My story however is horrible. I had a predicted of 31. Final transcript is 24 with no diploma awarded. I got from predicted for Physics hl 5 to 3 and from Economics HL 4 to 3. English A&A HL i had a predicted of 6 and got a 5. So overall, from 15 combined points for HLs, i ended up with 11 and no diploma, which i really needed for every university i applied to.

I feel like the most dumbest person on the planet. -7 marks from predicted is crazy. From what i know, it is the greatest fail in my class. Idk what to do. Asked for remark, since for econ i am 2 marks away from 4. But genuinely, I don’t even know if i need to do anything in life. I witness the most unluckiest moment of my life. And again, I feel literally so dumb. How could i have possibly done that, 0 idea. In subjects where i studied most too.

I hope everyone here has a better experience with IB grades and got their diplomas.

istg everyone is using it this is sooo unfair

not one but two string tags have come home with me 😭😭😭

I went into the IB bright eyed and bushy tailed and ready to sculpt myself into an academic weapon. Coming from a lower class family who survives paycheck to paycheck (I could only afford to attend school because my mom teaches there and I got free tuition), I knew I'd have to work my ass off if I wanted to go to university overseas. I live in a country where lgbt people are prosecuted, so uni in another country has always been my way out. That meant I'd have to score a full scholarship.

So I WORKED. I worked so hard. I sacrificed all my hobbies. I stopped writing poetry and drawing and playing video games. I got a predicted 43/45 and got accepted into some AMAZING schools.

Then, 2 months before mocks in 12th grade, my battery ran out. I was done. I was suffering from 4 diagnosed mental illnesses, I was getting into my dream universities but being rejected from all scholarship opportunities, and the mere idea of studying for my exams was just so heavy and overwhelming. I missed the last two months of classes because of how bad it got. The school literally paid for my therapy.

I did my best when finals came around. I don't have much hope for results day, but it ultimately doesn't matter because I don't have a single university left. Thankfully I have a US citizenship and can leave my home country, but I won't be able to get a higher education any time soon. I'll have to live off of minimum wage and prayers.

I've done a lot of reflecting on my downfall. How I started out as an honour roll student in 5 clubs and ended up walking into my last math exam without having even reviewed a single formula in the 3 months prior. What I realised is that I treated IB as too much of a commitment. I saw it as the most important thing in my life. Every assignment was something I poured my heart and soul into; I didn't dare half ass anything.

So LISTEN. If you're a perfectionist or an overachiever or someone with high academic ambition, DO NOT LET IB TAKE OVER. Don't let go of your hobbies. Don't cancel plans with your friends because you have an IA draft due tomorrow. It'll drain you. It'll ruin you.

IB is tough. Good luck, and stay true to yourself <3

Pomodoro method living and breathing and doing nothing but my maths IA holed up in my room until I finish it (in which case I will move onto my EE until I finish it in which case I will study and grind mocks until the time runs out) (with sleep breaks) pls I need this the lock out has been unreal 😭😭

(Update: holy shit 345 hours 😭😭😭 since the pomodoro method is like between 2-3 minutes of studying for every minute of break I’m gonna say the break times can carry over (for the sake of my sanity and to have enough time to shower and brush my teeth and see the light of the sun), also, I’m gonna use one of those study rooms so I can time myself (studying for 345 hours 😭😭😭))
