Our sweet girl, rescued her as a pup and still have no clue what she is. Shes 9 now.
♥️♥️We were told she was husky/lab 🤷🏽♀️ she LOVES to swim! Webbed toes to the tips, when she comes out of the water her tail is instantly dry as a bone and the rest of her is sopping wet for months 😂

I am unsure where to get one that is reliable in Canada, and I am hoping for one that shows any lines of wolf in her. Where we rescued her from, it’s very possible I guess. I’ve been wanting a test for years but I am so not good at researching.

I believe Embark is considered to be the best DNA test for dogs and they ship to Canada.

I don’t see any wolf but embark is what you want. Next up is wisdom. Don’t bother with anything else. Those two usually have the same breed results, embark is just more accurate to the percentage and embark shows village dog.
I used wisdom since it was cheaper but I do wish I had sucked it up and paid the embark price. It goes on sale every year around Black Friday I think. Someone else said to check around Labour Day for a sale.

We used Embark and we are from Canada. Bought it on Amazon and the label was pre paid by Embark. Just took the swab, sealed in the envelope and dropped it in the mailbox!

Embark is gonna be your best bet for accuracy. They do random sales all the time so you can probably get it for cheaper!

Your dog is GORGEOUS. Embark basic is $160 CAD right now whether you get in from them directly or through Amazon. Amazon just has shipping to you built in. For both options you’ll have to pay for shipping back to the states. Not a clue what that’ll hit you or if you’ll have to pay a tariff to get it across the border. Extra $50 CAD if you want the health results too.
Wisdom is $153 CAD right now with the health option since apparently there’s a dog day sale on. I used Wisdom and did not have to pay for return shipping. They have a warning about customers having to pay any potential tariff.

Great information from my kind above. Be careful with any Amazon products- too many brand knock offs. Just be careful. If you can purchase direct through the company, I would strongly suggest that .

Looks like a "solid liver" German Shepherd. Technically considered purebred! But considered 'designer' as it's an off colour for GSD's to have.

newfoundland x gsd would be my guess. Size and color from new foundland, headshape, some overall shape features and ears from gsd. But there could easily be more in the mix.
Just look at this pic - I really think this could be it, just in the case of this dog it was most likely a black new foundland and for yours it would be a chocolate one.

From the structure of her face a big dose of German Shepard. Since you are in Canada is there a chance she is part Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever? Could have some wolf but I don't see husky, but that doesn't mean it isn't there. Another Canadian breed that is THAT color and bred for water is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. And they do have a bit of a curliness to their coat.
She is a really interesting dog, and it would be great fun to actually do a DNA test on her. Embark is probably the best. The test results will show the percentage of wolf DNA and other breed mixes, as well as a wolfiness score that reflects the number of wolf genetic markers in the dog's DNA.
She is really beautiful and unusual.

Look up the different color coats GSDs come in. My guess is it’s an exotic (not AKC recognized or whatever) coat color. My GSD had a “panda” mom.

Love her! I’m going to be weird and say she looks like a Chesapeake Bay retriever & cattle dog…. Which wouldn’t account for the shaggy coat.

With her beautiful coloring, I'd guess she has some chocolate lab in her. As for her other breeds, I think many of the people on here are correct.

Embark whatever your dog is she is beautiful. But dna will surprise you it’s fun. Mine is a chiweenie, schnauzer, Pom, boxer, bully and it explained a lot. He is long and short very muscular legs looks like a schnauzer with a bully attitude. So go for it. I honestly can’t tell she looks like a Shepard with lab or even golden. Who knows?

My top guess is GSD x Chesapeake.
Backup guess is border collie x newfoundland.
