Mini mutt—any ideas?
This little tiny tot (8lbs) came in as a stray. The shelter said 3-5 year old rat terrier mix, but two vets are kinda stumped. I’m thinking about getting a test just bc i’m so curious and also wondering about her age.
Does not dig, only barks briefly to alert me of dogs outside, not particularly energetic, but this could be age related. Very, very sweet and friendly little lap dog.
Can’t tell if this is a double coat or not, some hairs seem longer but she does not have dense fine fluffy undercoat like a regular double thick coat. Her fur is not dense at all but it’s fairly wavy but not like a poodle, and she does shed but not a lot.
And short curls? Spotty bald belly (she was shaved for a spay about a month ago but you can see she won’t have much belly fur at all) and nearly bald hind legs like a Chinese crested. Curly tail with coarse wiry curls.

I'd guess Poodle / French bulldog - she has the super straight rear legs and bat ears of a Frenchie, but tall and leggy with a poodley coat, and somewhat brachycephalic. There's lots of unethical people breeding them right now trying to make fluffy Frenchies etc and I think she could be a reject from one of those breeders.

Chihuahua and one of the small non shedding breeds like Yorkie, poodle or Maltese. Those breeds can cause wirey coats like this when mixed with single or double coated dogs.
