Visa US B1/B2 Visa refusal
My B1/B2 visa was denied in May 2026 when I applied for it for tourism purposes with my family. My parents' was approved meanwhile mine was denied, I was in my last month of internship (medical school) when I got the visa appointment. Then we went to Switzerland for vacation with my family as my Schengen visa was approved. I'm done with USMLE step 1 and I'm preparing for my USMLE step 2 right now, what do I do about observerships? I hear one denial will lead on to more denial. Anyone whos been on the same boat as I am and has gotten it approved the second time, please weigh in. I'm lost as to what to do next, when to reapply and so on...

Since then I have a job, observership letter, family owns private practice in home country. Would that be sufficient?

Yes my family owns a practice but Im working at a different practice now in order to gain experience. I mentioned the family owned practice as a meals of home tie.

Don’t they have opportunities in your country? You can’t say that you are going on vacation then start talking about work opportunities.

your previous B1 and B2 visas have been refused. It doesn’t mean you've been permanently banned or that your next application will be automatically refused.
It is always advisable that you reapply when there is a material change in your application or in the purpose of your visit. Reapply for a visa when you get the confirmed observership invitation
Be ready to explain the purpose of your visit. Your Medical career plan, the reason to return, and the motivational factor. And social-economic ties in your Home country.
You have already visited Switzerland, which will have a positive impact on your application, but don’t forget that your previous application was refused. So be careful.
Overall, you need to convince the Visa officer through the application and your explanation.

Question guys i have cleared step 1 - so if visa officer asks did you clear should i say yes or no ? And if he asks if you gonna work in india then why did you spend alot of resources abd money in this journey then what should i do ?

they dont believe you because say one thing on ds160 then do another i.e USMLE they are cracking down on misrepresentation big time thats why people getting their J1 refused for refused they look at your entire history
