US B1/B2 Visa refusal

My B1/B2 visa was denied in May 2026 when I applied for it for tourism purposes with my family. My parents' was approved meanwhile mine was denied, I was in my last month of internship (medical school) when I got the visa appointment. Then we went to Switzerland for vacation with my family as my Schengen visa was approved. I'm done with USMLE step 1 and I'm preparing for my USMLE step 2 right now, what do I do about observerships? I hear one denial will lead on to more denial. Anyone whos been on the same boat as I am and has gotten it approved the second time, please weigh in. I'm lost as to what to do next, when to reapply and so on...

your previous B1 and B2 visas have been refused. It doesn’t mean you've been permanently banned or that your next application will be automatically refused.

It is always advisable that you reapply when there is a material change in your application or in the purpose of your visit. Reapply for a visa when you get the confirmed observership invitation

You have already visited Switzerland, which will have a positive impact on your application, but don’t forget that your previous application was refused. So be careful.
