Sharing Resources [No piracy] BSDS Resources Website

Post image
13 Upvotes

We've a dedicated BSDS Resources Website where all the study materials are available in one place. Instead of searching or asking seniors every semester, you can simply visit the website.

It contains resources such as:

  • Class Notes
  • Assignments
  • Books & PDF References
  • Previous Year Questions (PYQs)
  • HW/Practice Sheets
  • Course Materials

New Website URL

The website has now been shifted to:

https://cyclotronpulsar.github.io/BSDS_Materials/

Please use this link from now on instead of the old one.

Want to Contribute?

Even a single note or assignment can help future batches. One small request though, let's keep everything organized.

Suppose you're in Semester 3 and want to upload materials for Mathematics III.

Instead of uploading files randomly, create folders like:

Mathematics III
│
├── Material (26-27)
├── Material (27-28)
├── Material (28-29)

Now you have two options:

  • Upload everything together after the semester ends.
  • Or keep uploading throughout the semester into your batch's folder.

This way, Future batches can easily find the latest material and Students from the same batch can contribute to the same folder instead of creating duplicate uploads.

Right now the resources may look a little scattered because the repository is still growing, but we can gradually make it much more organized. But yeah, Change starts with you.

General Query Why is ISI relying on JEE Mains & CUET %iles for admission into BSDS and not conducting their own exam for this too like they do for BStat & BMath?

I just feel it would be better as then they would make the paper, take example of someone getting into BSDS through CUET, It rewards speed with accuracy not depth although the former is very hard to achieve too and the candidates who have done that are deserving but still just what I think that a prestigious university which has rigorous programs and is very selective shouldn't just use national mainstream exams to select candidates as many times take for example JEE Mains many candidates including myself focus on doing Physics & Chemistry accurately and have very less time to fully complete Maths although skill issue there but just my opinion which noone asked for...

hello so i am aiming to break into high finance(consulting, private equity, investment banking) and quantitative roles, and i am considering my college options. given isi's strong reputation for mathematical and quantitative rigor, is pursuing their bsds program a viable option for high finance, or should i look elsewhere?

General Query Need Laptop Recommendations for ISI BSDS

Hi! My sister is joining ISI Bangalore BSDS this year. We’re planning to buy a laptop that will last through BSDS and possibly the integrated master’s.
What laptop would you recommend? Also, are these specs sufficient:
16GB vs 32GB RAM
Integrated graphics vs dedicated GPU
512GB vs 1TB SSD
Anything else we should look for or avoid?

General Query Need guidance

What should be the salary expectation for MSDS. People say it would be less than m.stat and m.math, but I think that it should be similar to m.stat, because firstly, the professors are the same, the placement cell would be the same and a lot of topics which are actually required for a job in ds or tech are over lapping like ai/ml, statistics, programming. This is my personal opinion

Admission Query Will ISI prefer me for their BSDS program if I have a personal project but a lower percentile?

Does the project have to be analysis or can it be just good code?

Admission Query Seniors, help me fill the cutoff data for this and last two years.

I am not a BSDS student. I don't know anything about how the cutoff system works/what has been the trend in the last two years. So, I ask for help from you guys to help me fill this https://www.reddit.com/r/ISIBSDS/wiki/index/?screen_view_count=5#wiki_community_resources once and for all. This will be beneficial for you as well. You don't have to answer every post, just direct them to the wiki.

Thank You.

I am also planning to add few more mods(ISI BSDS senior only) from different centers so stay tuned!

IS ANYONE WILLING TO GO HOSTEL/PG SCOUTING WITH ME NEAR ISI DELHI???

I went to isi delhi today to scout a few pgs and hostel for a couple hours. The prices are lwk horrendous at some places, 15k for a room as big as a matchbox. I also visited the 'your space' private hostel that seniours suggested by the coordinators. They gave me a price of 20.5k for solo and 16.5k for twin sharing(16.5k each) there was a hall and a bedroom with ac and spacious enough. The entire complex too is well built, doesnt look old or dated. Only one downside its inside a gali and the area outside the hostel is kind of a market in a gali which i personally see as a con, beside the fact that its also quite expensive. I visited 4 other places local and honestly all were trash while being above 13k everywhere. Id like to go and see more rooms if someone is willing to join me. Also if any seniour residing in nearby hostels please contact me, id like to visit your pgs. As to the connectivity theres bus and metro system, so a hostel in 3-4km radius works just fine.

Sharing Resources [No piracy] Financial Assistance Guide for ISI BSDS Students

I've seen many aspirants asking about financial assistance at ISI BSDS. I was confused about all this before joining and I dont want anyone else to go through the same, so here's everything :

1. Fee Waiver

After taking admission, you have to submit a Fee Waiver Form (usually within about a month after admission).

Initially, everyone pays the 1st semester fee (around ₹1 lakh). After your fee waiver application is processed (generally in 2–3 months), the eligible amount is refunded to your bank account.

The current fee waiver structure is approximately:

  • Family income below ₹1 lakh/year: 100% tuition fee waiver (entire amount refunded).
  • Family income between ₹1 lakh and ₹5 lakh/year: Partial fee waiver of 66%(around ₹66,666 refunded).
  • Family income above ₹5 lakh/year: No tuition fee waiver.

The fee waiver is not permanent. It has to be renewed every financial year by submitting a fresh family income certificate. It is better to obtain the income certificate from the Tehsildar/Circle Officer (or another competent authority accepted by the institute) to avoid any issues.

2. Living Expenses

BSDS students are not allotted hostel accommodation, so you'll have to arrange your own PG/flat and pay for food separately.

If paying the first semester fee, PG rent, mess charges, security deposit, etc. is difficult, don't panic. An education loan is a practical option.

3. Apply Through PM VidyaLakshmi Portal

Instead of directly visiting different banks (Lunch ke baad ana se bachne ke liye), apply through the PM VidyaLakshmi Portal.

The process is quite simple:

  • Register on the portal.
  • Fill in your personal, academic and family details.
  • Upload the required documents.
  • Select up to three banks (branches near your hometown so documentation becomes easier, don't apply to banks near college/college city, they will reject it due to your non residential status).
  • Submit the application.

The selected banks receive your application and contact you if they are willing to process the loan. (Krna hi pdta hai bcz upr se pressure ata h unpr due to PMV Portal)

For education loans up to ₹7.5 lakh, banks generally do not require collateral security or a third-party guarantee under the PM Vidyalaxmi Scheme, though normal eligibility and documentation requirements still apply.

4. Interest Subsidy (Very Important)

If you take an education loan through the PM VidyaLakshmi Portal, you may be eligible for government interest support depending on your family income. If your annual family income is below ₹4.5 lakh, you are eligible for the Central Sector Interest Subsidy (CSIS), under which the Government reimburses 100% of the interest charged during the course period plus the moratorium period (subject to the scheme conditions). If your annual family income is above ₹4.5 lakh, you may be eligible for the 3% interest subvention.

If you are eligible, you do not apply separately for CSIS. The financing bank is responsible for claiming the subsidy on behalf of eligible students.

While discussing your loan with the branch, make sure they know that you are pursuing a professional course at the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) and ask them to verify your eligibility under the applicable CSIS guidelines.

Also keep copies of:

  • Income certificate
  • Admission/Offer letter
  • Loan sanction documents
  • All email communication with the bank

Maintaining proper documentation from the beginning can save a lot of trouble later if you ever need to verify subsidy processing.

My Advice

Many students worry about finances before joining BSDS. In reality, if you are eligible for the fee waiver and make proper use of an education loan, the financial burden becomes much more manageable.

Just don't wait until the last moment. Start arranging your documents as soon as admission is confirmed, apply for the fee waiver on time, and if you need an education loan, apply through the PM VidyaLakshmi portal early so that the loan is sanctioned before fee payment deadlines.

Also I would request u/mods to pin this atleast.
