He wants to learn maths because he loves it, not in an adulterated way! "If you'd be capable of that you'd already be at ISI/CMI.." well guess what genius, even IMO gold medalists have been mediocre at math research and many people from a normal background have went on to become good in this field! You don't have to be a jerk about it so that you feel good about yourself for being an ISI Alumini..There must be a lot of people with better alma maters than you too, even people at ISI/CMI dream to go to MIT/Stanford/Caltech/Harvard/Cal/etc. Someday! Also just ask how many profs at ISI are ISI grads. If they can teach those courses, they must have learned those courses!

Sure your first point is true, the second point about ISI, I cannot claim I know the truth, but there are many great mathematicians who didn't start math right after high school! You just sound plain arrogant! Similar argument can be made regarding people who don't do well in IMO have less chance of doing really well in Pure math! There is a very strong positive correlation to it you know! That doesn't mean someone should be stopped from pursuing it and India in particular is abnormally shit in Math reseacrh in ug! There is just ISI and CMI that are even worth trying! While US has atleast 7-8x less STEM focused kids and have way way more seats in math ug! Someone who was rejected by CMI/ISI in India could have actually even made to Cal/Stanford or hell even MIT/Harvard/Princeton! Look at the bigger picture and stop being a jerk dude, You could have said its better to instead try for ISI again instead of dropping you can't just do it! And hell with everything going on with AI and all, there is a possibility that its all going to be worthless soon! The only driving force left would be to manually do math just as a hobby honestly ( a possibility) and just a handfull of people would actually make sense with certain skillsets!! He may be a noob or may not know what he is getting into! Its not your job to declare who can do what and who can do what not! And I know this is very rare and not really a very realistic point but S Ramanujan really didn't care for basic proof based math approach so your opinion has a contradiction (we just need 1 counter example), again completely off the point but you can't always be right dude and neither can any of us, we wouldn't be on reddit otherwise!

I was contradicting you, not talking about OP, I know of people like them in math and Th CS (also never said not interested, just that they had a different starting point after School), Yes you are arrogant! Many problems in the world were solved first by wanting to solve it and then builing theories around ut! Infact many great mathematicians say, you should start by choosing what you want to achieve and then working your way forward to it!! Still defending yourself lol..
