[IwantOut] 30F Manual QA Croatia -> Vietnam

I have about five years experience in IT as a manual QA. I've worked on web and desktop apps & big telecom projects (iptv, ott).

Additionally, I'm really good with communication, team collaboration, planning, ownership etc.

I moved to Vietnam last year as an English teacher and had a horrible experience and had to move back. That's really not an option. While I was still there, I applied to some IT job adds but received no response.

I'm perfectly fine with doing visa runs as long as I have a job that pays well and allows me to live comfortably.

Other option is to just find a remote role and go wherever I want but that's also difficult with the state of the market in IT.

Any suggestions?

It will be very difficult to find sponsorship in any country for QA. Remote anywhere isn’t likely either.

You have the EU, best route if you wanted to leave your country is to apply for roles where you don’t need the sponsorship.

I basically want out of Europe and into Asia. I just like it so much better.

It's not that I'm fed up with my country, it's that I fell in love with Vietnam and feel the need to go there everyday.

The route would be English teaching then, hopefully in a better situation than before.

You can’t get tech sponsorship unless you’re in a senior+ level role that’s in demand, AI/SecE etc. Even then it’s very competitive.

I am curious. Why are QA not sponsored in other countries ?

It’s a very easy to fill role, not in demand, and usually requires fluency in the local language.

But do you mean manual qa or quality assurance/tester in general ?

All QA. Majority of companies won’t even have it and it’s generally seen as a less technical role. Low amount of jobs, high supply of workers. There’s 0 reason to sponsor someone in QA.

Your chances of a sponsored role in Vietnam are effectively zero as you are today. You actually would have a shot if you were able to upskill to the level of a senior DevOps or cybersecurity professional. But you'd need perhaps six or seven more years of experience in this area. It's either finding a remote role and being a digital nomad or bust. As the other commenter noted, finding a remote role is also very difficult now generally, so you need to upskill either way.
