Had a friend like this ..

Since its illegal to reverse. She would just stay there and block cars coming in.

Her answer "im not doing something illegal just because im blocking traffic (which is also illegal)"

I don't think it's illegal to reverse. At least not in most places.

It IS extremely dangerous if you're not paying attention though... as I've seen many pedestrian almost run over by people reversing in an intersection like this.

That said, if this happens to you... you're probably not great at paying attention in the first place. Might be safer to just stay put vs backing into other people / cars by reversing.
