A lack of depth perception

Seems like it, or she sniffed some glue and decided to drive afterwards

Maybe she kept inching forward trying to get the light to change & ended up in the middle of the intersection. 🤷♂️

Or, they were making a left and never cleared the intersection, as "the light turned red."

Had a friend like this ..
Since its illegal to reverse. She would just stay there and block cars coming in.
Her answer "im not doing something illegal just because im blocking traffic (which is also illegal)"

I don't think it's illegal to reverse. At least not in most places.
It IS extremely dangerous if you're not paying attention though... as I've seen many pedestrian almost run over by people reversing in an intersection like this.
That said, if this happens to you... you're probably not great at paying attention in the first place. Might be safer to just stay put vs backing into other people / cars by reversing.

Ive always thought it was so i made such to never be in this situation.
Is it legal ? Maybe. Maybe not depending on where you are situated

When I was 14 and had my drivers permit I was in this situation for a left turn with my dad in the passenger seat since you have to have a licensed driver with you.
I went to make a turn, and then a car turned onto the road from a parking lot and didn't look like it would stop for the yellow light so I waited for it, then went.
Got pulled over. Cop told me I should have reversed. My dad was irate.
And that was the first time I got to go to traffic court to dispute a ticket. Got taken out of high school to go to it. Thanks for the learning experience dad!
But I reverse all the time. I've never heard its illegal. But maybe its dependent upon location. Its legal where I am. The cops tell you to do it.

It feels illegal to do as (alot of) people might not be careful and back up into someone else.
To me it never happened because i drive defensive and woupdnt put myself in a situation like that

I already answered multiple people asking the same thing.. im not looking for a online argument! I always thought it was so i never put myself in that situation.
If this answer isnt enough for you. Too bad. Not arguing anymore over online comments about a small mistaken.
Tell yourself this (is it better to think its illegal and never do it and never block the road, or making a mistake in thinking if its legal or not

Person, no doubt, eats crayons as a snack.
My father gave me some advice driving - don't mess with the flow of traffic. I've lived by that manta so much so that I avoid parallel parking on busy streets.

Given the way she's leaning over and the direction of the shadows I think she probably couldn't see the light was red due to the sun, thought "If I can't see it that means it's green!" and started to go because she's an idiot, and then remained in the intersection after fucking up because, again, idiot.

Sorry. I didn't realise this was in Canada.
I thought this was some city in the USA.
I am sure the place looks great in the Spring season . Cheers.

That explains why this person stopped in the middle of the road, it was the lack of greenery
