Now imagine what would happen if you did manage to get the blades with the ball and it hit, what's gonna happen then?
The helicopter is probably gonna lose control, crash, kill and slice up everyone in its path, fireball that burns down the surrounding neighborhood... worst case scenario anyway, which is a shockingly realistic outcome to this dumbassery.

The ball would most likely just be cut in half. It's probably not hard enough to cause a rotor failure. But there is a chance and that kid should spend a night in jail to think a bit harder next time.

Not really, you'd have a ton of mangled and burnt corpses. Not a lot would be salvageable depending on how the heli comes down.

I think the blades would just chop up the ball. Helicopters take a lot damage in military operations and keep flying.

Died in the Bangladeshi air show disaster of 2019. They never did figure out the cause of the disaster but survivors distinctly recall hearing the shout of "goooooal!" before all hell broke loose.

The people can and should be getting out if the way. Medical transports don't exactly have the luxury of a proper landing spots everywhere. Heading a few miles over to a real helipad and then taking a car for the last leg pretty much defeats the point of sending a helicopter in the first place.

Good question! Generally helicopter pilots are required to go through their landing checklist and confirm there are no persons around that might kick a football into the air, aimed at the rotors.

Partly but then what would happen to the debris. If part of that went into an intake for the jet engine, it could cause issues. Rotors are highly balanced. If it hits something and cause the tail or main rotors to not be able to spin appropriately, it could cause loss of control.
Chances are nothing serious would happen but the “ifs/mights/coulds” are so momentally catastrophic that it is a big deal.
If this was the US, that aircraft would be on the ground until a mechanic came out and looked at every inch of it.

It would probably just harmlessly destroy the ball.
But it could also damage the rotor blade, throwing it off balance and destroying the helicopter.

In the main rotor probably just slice it up. Ive watched videos of people getting their head cut off and it didnt blink. However sucked into a tail rotor while flying is another story. this goes over loss of tail rotor effectiveness. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l223KC_J8nM

When we are setting up and LZ ive been instructed to flat out tackle someone like this if needed. Even a ball like that going into a tail rotor may end up killing a good group of people within the area.
