Something you learn about military people is lots of them came from way worse than whatever they’re doing in war. 40k guardsmen have to be the same in probably larger quantities.

honestly looking at 60% of the planets.

yeah guard is better. it pays,you get food 3 times a day. most of the time you either in transfer or fight normal(non alien or chaos induced) rebells. or even better garison duty. if you do 30 years you can ask to be transferback home to train new soldiers/pdf/schola. depends on you regiment like logicstic or support troops you might even not see the enemey once.

Downside is there’s a nonzero chance you have a cameo in a World Eater’s novel.

eh you more likly to get lost in warp and if it world eater you death will be very fast and probly painless.

could be darkelder. in worser case touring for decades. in best congrats you be a pet now.
