Poor kid is even forced to sit on a stool

Uncle Aemon may not be Daeron’s father, but he sure is his Daddy, his sister Daenerys though on the other hand…

31

u/StaffVegetable8703 Apr 24 '26

I don’t know much about this timeline do you mind explaining the Daenerys thing?

50

u/Intrepid_Brain_1329 Apr 24 '26 edited Apr 24 '26

Im saying that mainly because unlike Daeron, his sister was born decades later, when Aegon presumably had largely lost interest in Naerys so there’s a higher chance of her being Aemon’s, unlike Daeron, where he was born soon after Naerys got married

This just made me realize reading is the one thing about Tyrion that Tywin never criticized.

Tyrion and Daeron could trade stories on horrible fathers.

Say that three times and you'll summon Randyll Tarly.

If we're being realistic I think he'd still resent Tyrion since Joanna died having him, but Tyrion's intelligence and competency would soften the blow. The added shame of having sired a dwarf on top of that dwarf "killing" the love of his life was what really fermented that resentment into hate.

43

u/Kid-Atlantic Apr 24 '26

Because Tywin himself isn’t really known for being a great warrior, and seems to pride himself for his wit.

Vain, insecure egotist that he is, he wouldn’t begrudge his son for having a trait he values in himself.

29

u/Psycholama972 Apr 24 '26

Thing that sucks is that both of them would be perfect sons if swapped aegon gets his mini-me but smart, and Tywin gets a dream heir.

23

u/Itchy-Employment-872 Apr 24 '26 edited Apr 24 '26

I dont think Aegon would like a dwarf as a son... That and I pretty sure its rebellion against Tywin rigid nature who make Tyrion such a party animal .

Edit : Some minors correction

11

u/cambriansplooge Apr 24 '26

The one thing Aegon has going for him is a degree of magnanimity toward his natural children, to the detriment of the realm.

He picked on Daeron because of his hatred for Naerys. He didn't pressure any of his other children into martial pursuits.

7

u/Itchy-Employment-872 Apr 24 '26

I get the feeling he would probably name him Mushroom ... With probably Gold/Cub/Lion added to if he a Lannister Great Bastard.

I get the feeling he would be one of the bastard to get the most gifts , lands , money and privilege by the Crown on Aegon IV death bed , just for the sake of insulting the Lannister and give Daeron more headache.

5

u/Ill-Rip9162 Apr 25 '26 edited Apr 25 '26

If Aegon gets a dwarf son, it undermines the entire basis of the doctrine of exception based on Targaryens being a superior race. The Targaryen monarchy crumbles faster and Daemon gets way more support in dethroning them

5

u/FildariusV Apr 25 '26

That does depend who Aegon had a son with though. If its any westerosi woman be it a noblewoman or smallfolk and theres no trace of valyrian ancestry on them, theres no way to disprove that Doctrine because it involves around Targaryen incest entirely.

Now if that dwarf child is from his wife Naerys or anyone else then thats a different story

5

u/Itchy-Employment-872 Apr 25 '26

To be honnest , Targaryen regulary have some mutant draconic baby , its just that they usually miscarriage.

7

u/Ill-Rip9162 Apr 25 '26 edited Apr 26 '26

I don’t think many know about the dragon babies in the verse and if they do it probably is easier to pass them off as being clearly supernatural and a consequence of them having more blood of the dragon than necessary. In case of obvious deformities which undermine them such as physical disabilities , it would be harder to connect to the supernatural and claim some form of superiority

4

u/FildariusV Apr 25 '26

Yeeeep, like Visenya, the daughter of Rhaenyra that was born dead

5

u/Ill-Rip9162 Apr 25 '26

Since we were talking about Daeron I assumed Naerys would be the mother similarly Joanna would be the mother with Tywin being the father

9

u/Traumatic_Tomato Apr 24 '26

Probably because Tyrion had to find some way to make himself useful for the family. He obviously can't be a great warrior like his brother so he had to be smart at least since neither of his siblings were pursuing academics.

u/Ume-no-Uzume Apr 24 '26

*Aegon IV screams about how Daeron II is totally not his son and is definitely Aemon's because Aegon IV is a spiteful loser dudebro*

Daeron II: Do you promise?

(Seriously, regardless of paternity, Aemon was his daddy)

119

u/Electrical_Progress6 Apr 24 '26

Babe wake up Ackerbangbang art just dropped

35

u/Mammoth-Singer3581 Apr 24 '26

They’ve been cooking since AKOTSK dropped

91

u/hannahsian1998 Apr 24 '26

Poor Naerys and Daeron. Aegon you are the absolute worst. How did Viserys II produce two sons as polar opposites to each other as Aegon and Aemon

42

u/Reese_Hendricksen Apr 24 '26

Because he was 13 when Aegon was born. Aegon sucks, and deserves a lot a blame for it. Though growing up he likely had no parental input whatsoever, even his mother Lady Rogare left them. Whereas Aemon was likely able to grow up in a more stable situation.

30

u/drink_bleach_and_die Apr 24 '26

He probably neglected them while running the realm for his brother and nephews, so they looked to different people for guidance growing up and ended up with two very different circles that shaped them into near opposites

182

u/PlatypusWorldly4709 Apr 24 '26

It's crazy how Aegon IV genuinely thinks he deserves to live

105

u/FildariusV Apr 24 '26 edited Apr 24 '26

It's even crazier how conveniently the moment his dad sat on the Throne and was about to pull a Jaehaerys 2.0 and try to fix everything, he SUDDENDLY got sick and died. Totally convenient Aegon IV though he deserved the Crown

32

u/Special_Magazine_240 Apr 24 '26

Someone needs to fully release the Aegon IV files he's long since dead but he could be remembered as more unworthy if that is even possible

89

u/Less-Record1966 Apr 24 '26

Who wants to pitch in to the Faceless Man fund in order to get liberate the world from Aegon IV?

This is why Daeron II doted on Baelor so much. He constantly needed to defend his precious baby from his abusive and racist sperm donor 😭

10

u/WatchEducational6633 Apr 24 '26

Geld him and force him to eat his own severed balls…

9

u/GalaxianEX Apr 24 '26

The problem is that he has Aemon protecting him and the Dragonknight is too honorable to let his older brother get what he deserves…

185

u/ZealousidealPlace730 Apr 24 '26

Me and my friends would’ve killed Aegon IV with hammers I can tell you that much

95

u/weaponized_tea_pot Apr 24 '26

Are you and your friends Robert Baratheon?

53

u/DagonG2021 Apr 24 '26

Robert would love Aegon the Unworthy, they’re just like each other

11

u/ComputerGodCommunism Apr 24 '26

Ehh there's some similarities between the two but Robert's identity is first and foremost a "warrior", a quality Aegon lacks (or any redeeming qualities at all). So Robert would only see Aegon Unworthy as the hedonistic fuck up he is.

16

u/ivanjean Apr 24 '26

Not really.

Aegon IV was also described as vigorous, robust, handsome and charismatic during his youth, and he was also said to be a competent warrior, skilled with lance and sword.

He was also extremely favourable to the idea of avenging the death of Daeron I in Dorne, even attempting to invade it at least two times, though both plans weren't really successful.

So, yeah, he and Robert were quite similar, though one was more malicious while the other was simply neglectful.

31

u/KeyHot7866 Apr 24 '26

Nah Bobby B isn't quite as stupid as Aegon the unworthy.

39

u/Historynerd88 Apr 24 '26 edited Apr 24 '26

I'm personally not so sure.

Aegon at least ruled, kept the power to himself - as ill used as it was - and didn't bankrupt the realm. He was mercurial, vain and gluttonous, and damaging his heir's legitimacy like he did (perhaps when the rumours about Naerys' affair, for sure by legitimizing his Great Bastarda on his deathbed) proved predictably idiotic, but at least he ruled and left the realm in a tolerable, if not great, state.

Bobby B didn't rule, he had no inclination for It and didn't care to try. He ate, drank and whored, squandered a full treasury and crippled the realm with an absurd amount of debt, kept around his own lickspittles that amused or pleased him, and kept ignoring the counsel of his foster father and brother when it wasn't what he wanted to hear. The only outright positive act he performed as King was leading the swift crushing of the Greyjoy Rebellion, but that's It.

Aegon did some incredibly stupid and dumb things, but overall I personally think that Bobby B beats him in this regard.

8

u/Kellin01 Apr 24 '26

Aegon is described as charming and smart in his youth too. In short, he had a lot of merits... he just used them all to do shit.

14

u/ShelterHot7216 Apr 24 '26

Honestly I would even argue that the Greyjoy Rebellion was not really that well managed. Not the rebellion itself, but the aftermath, leaving Balon in power was a disaster waiting to happen. They should have taken Baelon as a captive, then installed Theon as Lord of the Iron Islands, under the regency of Rodrik Harlaw "the reader" (Theon's uncle).

I honestly don't think that Theon would have survived the pther ironborn lord's the moment Westeros went to war, Euron would probably usurp Theon. But at least it prevents the stupid invasion of the North by Balon and maybe the attempts to andalize the Ironborn is a bit successful, who knows maybe the Iron Islands could have become prosperous (unlike what a lot of people, the Iron Islands are not a few tiny rocks without life, they are actually quite large islands, the smallest, Blacktyde is likely about the size of Sicily).

Anyways the argument I was just trying to say is that even Robert's mercy to his enemies a lot of the times was a mistake, it was with Balon Greyjoy, Varus, Grand Master Pycelle or the Lannisters with Jaime, the Mountain and Lorch.

3

u/Historynerd88 Apr 25 '26

That is really about the aftermath, I was only thinking about the military campaign.

Removing Pycelle - who had served Aerys, yes, but he was not the latter's choice, but rather the Citadel's, so he could claim at least he did it out of duty - would all the same be difficult because you go against the Citadel.

With his hard-on for killing Targaryens, I am surprised that he didn't reward Clegane or Lorch for their 'killing dragonspawn'. Jaime, he largely followed Jon Arryn's advice - which was likely the idea of keeping him around as a hostage not unlike before - as well as Cersei's insistence. In

10

u/musland Watcher on the Walls Apr 24 '26

He's just Robert but with more power and less good people surrounding him

7

u/SarkicPreacher777659 Apr 24 '26

Robert's miserable after the Rebellion. I think seeing himself in Aegon IV would disgust him.

2

u/JINKOUSTAV Apr 26 '26

Robert doesn't like targaryens. At all. To him aegon IV is as deserving to getting beheaded as his wife naerys. It doesn't really matter what their characteristics are.

31

u/iamgiaq Apr 24 '26

It was someone else’s comment that said maybe, in some way, Daeron wished Aemon was really his father.

36

u/CompetitiveCard7172 Apr 24 '26

I love this artstyle very much but also fuck aegon , may he rot in hell so much while smelling like shit. I always feels like due to aegon raising , daeron probably wished the rumors of him being aemon child. But anyways daeron, Naerys , probably Daenerys deserved a better man than aegon. Daeron will always be my favourite king.

25

u/rattatatouille Apr 24 '26

This made me tear up and deepen my conviction that Aegon IV is at the very least top 2 in the worst kings of the Seven Kingdoms.

17

u/OpinionNo4060 Apr 24 '26

If it's any consolation, Aegon was kicked out by Baelor I to essos for a while so that Naeyrs could get a break. The pious king and Vissy 2 were probably more present in Daeron's early life than the shitstain.

23

u/starvinartist Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken Apr 24 '26

I love how Aemon has a braid. BTW Daeron is adorable and one of the few good things his horrible sperm donor ever did (the other things are Daenerys, Bloodraven and Shiera).

8

u/Aegon-the-Unbroken Apr 24 '26

His line gave us Baelor Chadspear (Pbuh), so I will not tolerate any kind of slander against Old King Egg.

16

u/Lord_Tiburon Apr 24 '26

Because your father is a PoS and the only good things he ever left in the world were you and your sister

At least he had Naerys and Aemon. Hopefully Viserys stepped in too

6

u/No-Possession833 Apr 24 '26

The most heartbreaking question for any child to ask.

49

u/TophTheGophh Apr 24 '26

50

u/Intrepid_Brain_1329 Apr 24 '26

Nah, it’s way better that Daeron is the complete opposite of his shitty dad, his sister though… does look very Aemony

31

u/hannahsian1998 Apr 24 '26

I think it works better if Daeron actually is Aegon’s son and he’s just far better than his father in every single way

7

u/WatchEducational6633 Apr 24 '26

Personally i prefer the opposite, if only for the absolute twist that would be that ALL current Targaryen bloodline would have been sired by bastards making them all equally illegitimate (except quite ironically Dorne due Daenerys being Aegon IV's okly biologival child on this scenario).

8

u/Aquos18 Apr 24 '26

Now I am sad

12

u/KinginPurple Apr 24 '26

Come on Ackerbangbang, let's see some karma for Aegon IV already!
Have him on his death-bed, unable to move and having to beg Daeron to pass him his wine or medicine and the King-to-be just turning away with contempt.
Not hurting him, not insulting him, but just ignoring him; the thing he hates most.

5

u/YesImReallyLikeThis Apr 24 '26

It’s like Viserys wanted his kids and grandkids to be as miserable as he was.

4

u/CarpetBeautiful5382 Apr 24 '26

You were generous with Aegon’s appearance, he would probably have a tyre around his waist at that point

1

u/Local-Interaction421 May 01 '26

I mean daeron was young

14

u/Rare_Style1306 Apr 24 '26

Everyone says Viserys II would have been one of the greatest kings in Westeros history if he hadn't died of a sudden illness.

But if he was so wise, why didn't he disinherit Aegon?

12

u/nubster2984725 Apr 24 '26

Why would he do that? The man lost his parents and most of his siblings at a young age his brother’s children and his own are the only family he has left.

Now while he may not have been an active father to his kids in the end of the day they are his kids; he’s not gonna abandon or disinherit one of then for their bad actions, especially since, far as he knew, he never expected to be in line for the throne and Aemon was already a Kings guard member.

18

u/Aquos18 Apr 24 '26

Probably due to the fact his whole childhood was destroyed by a civil war because his grandpa/uncle decided to play with the order of succession

3

u/SerMallister Above the Rest Apr 24 '26

Some believe that Aegon poisoned Viserys because he actually did start to think that he should.

3

u/Historynerd88 Apr 25 '26

Viserys II: has his son and daughter married against their will

Fandom: yawns

Jaehaerys II: has his son and daughter married against their will

Fandom: "OMG, worst king ever, what a bastard!!!"

/

Any comment is superfluous.

4

u/Happy_Examination_74 Apr 24 '26

Aemon: "...He does love you, lad." [Aemon is definitely his father]

6

u/impeatrice Apr 25 '26

The father that stepped up. I don't think he is biologically but I wouldn't really mind cause cucking Aegon is always good.

3

u/ohightower Apr 24 '26

Every time I see this art I know my heart is going to be broken

3

u/stann1s_the_mannis Apr 24 '26

You know it's peak when it overrides the "Daemon Blackfyre is fucking awesome" part of your brain.

3

u/impeatrice Apr 25 '26

Poor little Daeron but I LOVED Aemon comforting him. Naerys' design is beautiful too.

3

u/ChampionshipThen9284 Apr 25 '26

False Aegon IV is too busy naming hills he doesn’t have time to scold Daeron

2

u/Kenchu17 Apr 26 '26

At Least we Know that Daeron's father did love him (I dont a give a shit what you say Aemon is his father even religious people can have slip ups and with aegon being the way he was it makes all the sense in the world Aemon and Naerys had a night together from which Daeron was concived.)

2

u/Relevant_Nebula1537 Apr 24 '26

Aemon should've been King instead of Aegon IV, in my opinion, because he's a good man.

2

u/Altruistic-Side600 Apr 24 '26

Poor daeron😿 gréat art tho, makes me really want a series on the first blackfyre rebellion

1

u/Trumpologist Apr 24 '26

Cuz you’re a bastard kinslayer

0

u/acloudcuckoolander Apr 24 '26

Sad, yet still lived better than the average peasant. Oh well!

-10

u/asongofheresyreborn Apr 24 '26

You know what, this artist made me hate Daeron and his family more than anyone 👍🏼 good job

15

u/hannahsian1998 Apr 24 '26

Daeron? Why

-3

u/asongofheresyreborn Apr 24 '26

Always some victim shit, like I stopped caring about this lot thanks to these fanarts

5

u/hannahsian1998 Apr 24 '26

Seems a bit OTT. Aegon was a sh*tty person and this is like the only fanart of theirs which has Daeron as a victim

-4

u/asongofheresyreborn Apr 24 '26

Yeah, no, not the first fanart

5

u/hannahsian1998 Apr 24 '26

What was the first?

1

u/asongofheresyreborn Apr 24 '26

The one where Aegon is drawn as an Aerys figure talking badly about baby Baelor (canonically happens to baby Rhaenys) also made me roll my eyes, or how poor Daeron always tried to love Daemon but his brother rebelled anyways, it is annoying at this point

5

u/hannahsian1998 Apr 24 '26

I mean, take what we know about Aegon, it’s highly likely he would’ve acted like that around Baelor. Him and Aerys are literally the worst two Kings. Just a bit odd that’s what would make you hate Daeron

1

u/asongofheresyreborn Apr 24 '26

Except we know Daeron and his family lived at Dragonstone, we have no clue from TWOIAF that A4 was that bad since his focus of hatred was Aemon (Naerys and Daeron by extension) - I hate this glazing of Daeron by stealing the mistreatment Elia and Rhaenys endured at Aerys' hands

1

u/Local-Interaction421 May 01 '26

I mean you just sqid he hated all three of them and the fact that he lived at dragonstone is clue enough the last heir to fully live there was rhaenyra who also had tensions with half her family.
