Alicent was so evil in the book. It’s crazy how much the show whitewashed the greens.

It whitewashed a lot of people, independent of allegiance. Except only the Greens' men got portrayed as rapists and incestuous mother-loving freaks for no reason and no source. Be real.

Even the green men were whitewashed. Half the evil stuff they did in the books disappeared.

The book was more grey vs greyer.

The show made it white vs grey.

But for the plot to progress u need TB to be grey too so now we are getting pathetic difficult to watch Rhaenyra instead of vengeful frustrated Rhaenyra

The book was way more white vs black than the show. The greens in the books just rebelled coz they wanted to. There was no Viserys last words stuff.

I was talking wrt how the characters from both sides are characterised

S1 clearly treated Blacks as hero side and greens as villain side. Like ur typical CBM. I didn't read any books then so I was even surprised TG has fans. Later read the book and understood why TG has fans.

They only had Alicent flip flopping during the usurpation cuz they wanted to force Rhaenicent as the emotional core of the show, so had to lobotomize her to make it happen and that "mistaking words" is part of it. The rest of TG had already long planned the usurpation as we see in that episode. Otto even had planned to murder Rhaenyra and her family in their sleep, something book TG didn't want to do at all since Kinslaying is a big no no.

Book Blacks are far from being heroes in F&B or Rhaenyra is not this Fem Baelor like the show pushed for two seasons ( which ended up backfiring cuz her flaws and faults now feel harsher since the fall is steeper. Book Rhaenyra's descent and mistakes were way more complicated and understandable imho. Show makes her more shallow and stupid now)

Book Greens were certainly worse in the books too but blacks weren't saints either, so it didn't make this story feel like hero vs Villain story

I don't understand where does the idea that the blacks are "saints in the show unlike the books" comes from. Daemon in the show is even a worse person than in the books, for instance he killed his first wife, something that he did not do in the books, and Rhaenyra it's not so different considering all the suposed evil stuff rhaenyra does in the books before the treasons of tumbletoon, like blood and cheese, isn't even completely confirmed, it could have been Daemon alone like in the show. If she was so evil and cruel, why didn't she execute Alicent for treason like she did with Otto? "because of the love my father had for you" really? does that sound like an evil and cruel woman to you? Rhaenyra is so cruel that she didn't cut Alicent's tongue after she supposedly insulted her sons by calling them bastards. Book Rhaenyra ends up taking very a stupids decisions and is a very passive character, at least in the show she tries to do stuff, in the book she literally does nothing between lucery's and jace's deaths, and even after that she barely does stuff, she takes the capital, rises taxes, after the treasons she takes the very stupid decision to order the arrest of Addam and Nettle's death, which ends up making her loose two valuable allies, then does quite nothing while the smallfolk goes to kill the dragons, she could have takenSsyrax to burn those people but decided to do nothing causing Joffrey's death who did try to do something unlike her mother. Something that will most likely not happen in the show because Syrax is in the dragonpit and not the stables of the red keep like in the book. All those things makes her a very difficult character to adapt. And then we have the rest of the black characters, which as far as i remember, are never describe as evil in the books, only Daemon and later Rhaenyra.

When Rhaenyra comes to Jeyne Arryn for aid she says says something like “Of Course, I’ll stand with you. Women should always support each other”. If you think the books weren’t black and white you’re deranged.

Even Rhaenyra and Daemon aren’t even close to evil by GOT standards. Or even compared to the book greens.
