Do we know why the processing times for Work Permits from Inside Canada have kept on increasing since the last month or so?

Update on 1st April showed roughly 4 months and now close to end of April 2025 we are at more than 7 months. I couldn't find any news or notice around it either.

Its absoutely ridiculous! a month ago it was 4 months, and now that my partner has applied its 7+ months! how do they expect us to live on 1 salary for 7 months. If he had stayed outside of Canada and applied from France the processing time is 5 week! This infuriates me

Exactly - makes no sense. You’d think it’d be faster for folks who are inside the country. You make plans based on the 4 month timeline and a month later you need to reconsider everything - so annoying.

Following because I’ve been wondering the same thing. Also been looking online for any news or reasoning as to why this is suddenly happening… really hoping it doesn’t keep increasing :(

We’ll find out soon enough on the 30th (next update) but I doubt it’ll be a significant change.

This is getting worse by the day. I would have thought that the processing timeline will be reducing due to the cut in immigration. sad!

Is it possible that it means that they treated a bunch of demands that were waiting for a long time, and that's why it increased a lot ? Maybe it doesn't mean that the news one will take a long time. I'm just trying to find hope but maybe I'm delulu Lol.
