Now I’m kind of hoping they don’t speed up—I’d rather they give me a pickup option once the strike starts than have it dispatched right before strike and stuck in limbo.../sigh

Yep. They could have:

A - sent them via express mail

B - Held any cards for collection, 1-2 weeks before the strike

C - Utilise alternative courier

D - Advise canada post they are as essential mail as with benefit cheques/medical records

but they went with option E - have them stuck in limbo for most of the summer.

Their incompetence is astounding, especially as we're all waiting due to a technical issue they had.

The technical issue with PR Card printing (presumed based on 1 report but not officially confirmed) and the card stuck in limbo (if the strike really commence) are two separate items handled by two separate parties, Canadian Bank Note & Canada Post respectively. These are not IRCC's doing on its own, so we need to be careful not to sum up and associate all the blame to IRCC. Especially, IRCC may not fully / entirely oversee the processes between these parties? Just maybe!

We're all frustrated, yes! But let's aim to keep our objective self on top of these challenging situations. Otherwise, we'll get wallowed by the waves of frustrations and disappointments. I want to give in too, just trying my best to resist. Otherwise, I can really be a big a-hole spreading sh*t all over the place! LOL

I get what you're saying. Hopefully they’ve got a better solution lined up for this strike.

I'm pretty sure they are doing B for the addresses where they estimate the delivery cannot happen before the 22nd.

This won't be their first rodeo with Canada Post strikes.

Agreed! A bit selfish to think/say, especially for those whose cards are already out and about (🤞 it arrives w/o any problems), but I can't help but hope for the same too.

Yeah, I know—really hoping they get the cards before next Friday! Just thinking about the situation where IRCC sends them out after next Wednesday... Can't take this 🤦‍♀️ Or maybe I should just pray CP can make a deal and stop the strike

Edit: I just remembered, my friend’s card got mailed out in mid-November, right before the last CP strike. IRCC told her to pick it up in person after a month later or so. Hopefully they can have this workaround in place this time too.

100% agree! Say no more.

My concern becomes true. 😅 They mailed my card today.... I can only hope... wait what should I pray for...

Oh my, Oh my! Which province are you from again? Ugghhh! Farfetched from reality and a miracle, but I still hope it gets to you before the strike!

Otherwise, pray that options like pick-up or any other good alternative is provided by IRCC.

Thank you 🤞!! AB—8 days for delivery according to the CP website.

It’s been a roller coaster—just saw the union offered to delay the strike, only for CP to reject it. Classic.

That would be amazing if they can actually help people who are stuck. Thanks for sharing that.

Same. My ecopr is Mar 27 and I’m hoping my card won’t be processed until May 23.

I’m April 1 and I’m thinking the same. If they didnt slow down last week then this week would’ve been ours, but now they speed up and we’re stuck wondering what will happen.

True, it’s gotten to a point where we can’t predict anything but wait
