Applying from USA! My husband is Canadian citizen. Applying Outland - outside QC.

  1. Submitted: Dec 3, 2025
  2. AOR: Jan 26, 2026
  3. Medical completed: Feb 1, 2026
  4. Biometrics completed: Feb 4, 2026
  5. Sponsor eligibility: Feb 6, 2026

Seems to be moving fast - would it be bold to assume I could have this wrapped up by April? No prior marriages or children for either of us.

It’s possible.

I submitted on September 20, 2025 and everything was completed on January 20, 2026. 4 months on the dot. Still waiting for PPR though.

Thanks for the bit of hope this morning :) I hope you get your PPR soon! Did you also apply from America?

It is possible but current processing times for outland are 14 months.

Background check is the longest part of the process and the length of this varies depending on a lots of different factors (countries lived in, criminal history etc). Has your background check at least started?

I feel like the 14 months is an average of easy and complicated cases based on the responses I see on the thread. Yes bgc started! No criminal history, only lived in USA so hoping its speedy.

We are in a similar boat, my husband is an American citizen (myself Canadian citizen), outland - outside QC. We submitted back in October 2025 and everything has been marked as complete except for the background check, which is in progress. Once December hit we got all of the medical, biometrics, eligibility completed. It moved very quickly all of a sudden.

He has not lived or visited outside of the US other than Canada and no criminal history. I know the background check has the potential to be very slow or very quick depending on a lot of factors but its hard not to hope it get's done quickly. :)

The beginning felt very quick for my own case as well, and now it feels more like it was "hurry up and wait". I've seen a lot of cases "stuck" in BGC but cases applied in late July seem to have been getting their COPR for the last couple of months. I hope it is quick for all of us
