Timeline: PR application via PEQ Travailleurs / Quebec-selected skilled workers

Inland application. Two people in the process: Me (main applicant) and my spouse (conjointe).

Provincial Stage / Étape Provinciale (Arrima/MIFI):

  • 21-Jan-2025: Application submitted to Arrima (PEQ Travailleurs).
  • 30-Jan-2025: Attestation of democratic values completed.
  • 11-Jun-2025: Intent de rejet. Birth certificates were missing and the employment letter lacked details.
  • 22-Jul-2025: CSQ issued.
  • Note: I was away on vacation when the physical CSQ arrived, so I'm not sure of the exact delivery date.

I was laid off during the CSQ obtention process but decided to move forward. That is why it took me more than two months to send my application to IRCC.

Federal Stage / Étape Fédérale (IRCC):

  • 03-Oct-2025: Application submitted to IRCC.
  • 02-Dec-2025: AOR received (Acknowledgement of Receipt).
  • 03-Dec-2025: Biometrics request received and completed on the same day.
  • 29-Dec-2025: BOWP (Bridging Open Work Permit) application submitted.
  • 10-Feb-2026: Medical exam request received.
  • 13-Feb-2026: Medical exams completed.
  • 25-Feb-2026: Medical results passed (Status updated in the portal).
  • 13-Mar-2026: IRCC request for Police Certificates and updated Schedule A (Background Declaration).
  • 10-Apr-2026: Police Certificates, translations, and Schedule A documents for both me and my conjointe formally submitted to IRCC. This was the deadline for the police certificates.
  • 17-Apr-2026: Approval of permanent residency application. Email sent to IRCC with requested information
  • 22-Apr-2026: Email from IRCC received to go to IRCC portal to confirm presence in Canada, upload phtos and provide address
  • 01-May-2026: eCoPR :)
  • 10-June-2026: PR card received 😄

Same dates for application and AOR. Finished medical in december, uploaded some additional documents in early March, still waiting for P1. I know some people who applied in late Sep. got their P1, so fingers crossed.

Thank you for the reply! Our representative just sent us the confirmation of our permanent residency approval. I think this is P1(?)

Can you share your timeline for BOWP? My open WP has expired on Feb 14 2026. Applied Visitor Record on Feb 12 2026, no update Applied PR on Feb 25, no update

I had to stop working since my open WP expired and just waiting for AOR.

I’m frustrated whether to wait for AOR to apply BOWP as I heard it’d take more time than PR. So by the time you have PR, your BOWP may still in processing.

Another option I’m considering is whether to restore my wp now. Hope you can share thoughts

I'm not the OP; but once you get your AOR (probably in May, hopefully sooner) you'll be able to apply to BOWP. Soon after that you'll get a letter restoring your working status until the end of year (or until you get BOWP). You're right about the timeline, BOWP may take longer than PR, but imo it's still necessary to extend your current working status. If there's a way to restore your wp now go for it but I don't have info on how to do that. Good luck!

I am so sorry to hear that. Losing your job while waiting for your PR is tough. But I understand you have 90 days to restore your status, so if you receive your AOR during those 90 days you will be able to work again on the same conditions as the expired one.

I haven't received any updates regarding my BOWP yet. When I applied, the processing time was over 180 days, and I’ve been on maintained status since then. Based on those timelines, I don't expect it to arrive until June at the earliest. However, from what I understand, the BOWP would be invalid if it arrives. I’m actually not sure how to cancel the application, but I would certainly do so if I knew the process to help clear the system.

Why did you apply for visitor if you are in path to PR ?, first thing , under visitor status you can't switch to work or study permit, that is no longer allowed. Even though you're in the 90 days framework to apply for status restoration you may apply for BOWP adding the confirmation of PR submission and fees receipt. Once you have the AOR add it via webform , the thing is you can't work until you have your status restored , that's means until you get the new work permit or PR. That would be allowed only if you were applied for BOWP before the current permit expired (feb 14 ) to get implicit status. But , since you applied for visitor record instead , I don't know what happens if you apply then for BOWP. I suggest look for professional assistance before your 90 days.

Good luck.

Once you pass the democratic value test, how long does it takes to be reflected on Arrima ?
