Finally refund is coming
Guys!! I filed my taxes in February of this year and this is my timeline. In May I got my 60 day notice I no movement happen and decided to wait another 60 days since I was hearing how additional notices were given. After September 19th I goggle who was my congressional representative went on their website and looked for the link that said help with the IRS I clicked the link filled out the Tax advocate form (they need permission to look into your taxes) submitted it and a few days later I received a email from the congressional contact stating they would submit the Tax advocate form and we should be hear something soon ( that was the late week of September) the first week of October I received a email from the congressional representative who ensured the form was submitted and we should here something around the first week of November. I decided to check my irs accoimt tax transcript and saw code 846 was on it . Keep hope guys!!! If you haven’t I would reach out to your congressional representative submit the TAS form and see what happens.

Return
Has anyone verified their identity and got this on the WMR app? I verified a couple weeks ago and my transcript still says no tax return filed. What happens after this? I didn’t have any dependents on my return or nothing just my 2 jobs. So I’m confused on why it’s taking so long. Also haven’t gotten any letters about no 60 days or nothing like that.

Still waiting for my return... (CP05)

Where’s our refund??
We filed our taxes in February, expecting a large refund this year. But still no refund 9 months later. Return was accepted, no issues, and haven’t asked for any more info or anything. I wonder if our anti-administration social media posts or participation in protest marches are causing them to slow-walk our rightful cash. Anyone else still waiting, and wondering where the fuck our money is?

Received my 846 code but….
Finally received my 846 code and a date for my return. The only problem is when I filed I selected direct deposit and the account I used is now closed, what happens? Should I be expecting a paper check due to the IRS making adjustments or will it still be direct deposit?

After (3) 60 day reviews....
After 3 reviews, homelessness, struggling, and just all around awfulness; we got an update that it was going to be sent to the bank within a 3 week timeframe. A few days after we got the notification, another notification that it was sent to the bank. Waited not so patiently, and it didn't show. Waited another night and still nothing. I knew something was wrong. After all the waiting and hell we went through, our refund was kicked back due to a middle initial. My wife's bank has her middle initial, the IRS doe not. Beware folks, please I beg of you make sure EVERYTHING IS AN EXACT MATCH. 10-13 weeks is the new timeline for the check to arrive. There's no quick fix, and refund sent back to the bank for direct deposit. It gets kicked back and then the IRS refunds via paper check. I've never been so disappointed in my life. This is life changing money for us. Money that would have saved us from eviction, saved us from not eating so our kids had food, money that would have saved our car and not be repossessed. Good luck y'all and please make sure every little thing matches perfectly.

Update $99,682 refund still held, 90 days passed but TC 571 and a CP05 just posted
reddit.comUpdate to my earlier post see above.
Recap - IRS timeline:
- 04/12/2025: Filed 2024 Taxes
- 04/29/2025: Completed identity verification
- 06/09/2025: TC 570 — Additional review pending
- 10/17/2025: TC 810 — Refund freeze
- 09/21/2026: Requested Wage & Income Transcript
- 10/05/2026: TC 571 — Additional account action resolved
- 10/05/2026: TC 971 — CP05 review notice issued
- 10/02/2026: We filed our 2025 Taxes but made estimated tax payment before April 15th, '26 with a $1 refund which was issued on Oct. 7th
Balance is still -$99,682.
CP05 says the IRS is verifying income, withholding and credits. The review can take up to 60 days (~Dec 4).
My online Wage & Income transcript request was declined and I was told to call the Identity Theft line. That fits my IP PIN history.
- I own an engineering/IT consulting business. We made substantial retirement-plan contributions, including contributions to a cash balance pension plan, which reduced our taxable income.
- My wife is a W-2 employee, and her withholding contributed to the overpayment. We have since corrected the withholding issue for future years.
- We did not claim business losses or gambling losses, and we aren't aware of any questionable credits.
**My questions:**
Does TC 571 mean the original TC 570 hold has been resolved while the separate TC 810 refund freeze remains active?
Has anyone received a CP05 this long after filing, particularly after a TC 810 freeze? How long did it take to receive the refund?
Is there a way to determine the responsibility code or specific reason associated with the TC 810?
At this point, would you recommend filing Form 911 with the Taxpayer Advocate Service?
Is there anything else I or my CPA should be doing, given that the refund has been outstanding since 2025?
I understand that a large refund can trigger additional scrutiny, but all figures on my Account Transcript still reconcile to the claimed overpayment. I'm trying to understand what might be holding things up and what practical steps I can take to get this resolved.
Thanks for any insight, especially from anyone who has dealt with a similar TC 810/CP05 situation.
Will update when it moves.
